Abstract

The aim of the community service activity is to effectively provide technical guidance to the community, especially the farmers in Puasana Village, North Moramo Sub-district, on the creation, operation, and maintenance of the Crab Shell Waste Chopper Technology. Additionally, it aims to transfer knowledge about the procedures for manufacturing, operating, and maintaining the Crab Shell Waste Chopper Technology in Puasana Village, North Moramo Sub-district, Konawe Selatan Regency. The method employed involves field visits, technical guidance, and the evaluation of activities conducted for the community. The results of the community service activity show that the community is well-informed and understands effectively the mechanisms for manufacturing, operating, and maintaining the crab shell waste chopper device used for livestock feed production. Furthermore, the evaluation provides a comprehensive understanding of the impact and sustainability of the crab shell waste chopper technology program in Puasana Village. These results can be used to enhance the program, ensure the continuity of innovation, and provide lessons for other areas interested in adopting a similar approach.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh komposisi perekat terhadap karakteristik termal briket arang pelepah sagu. Tiga komposisi yang diuji adalah briket dengan perbandingan presentase arang pelepah sagu:perekat tepung kanji masing-masing 90:10%, 80:20%, dan 70:30%. Pembuatan briket dilakukan pada tekanan konstan 70 kgf/cm2. Pengujian termal dilakukan menggunakan tungku pembakaran silindris yang dirancang untuk aliran udara secara alami. Setiap komposisi diuji dengan tiga briket. Selama pembakaran, penurunan massa dan peningkatan suhu ruang bakar diamati setiap interval waktu 4 menit menggunakan timbangan digital dan termokopel tipe K. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa komposisi dengan perbandingan 90% arang pelepah sagu dan 10% perekat tepung kanji menunjukkan kenaikan suhu pembakaran tertinggi. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa proporsi perekat tepung kanji yang lebih rendah dalam briket dapat meningkatkan efisiensi pembakaran

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the heat that builds up and the rate of abrasion due to friction on the brake discs made of fiber composite jute, coconut shell with an epoxy resin adhesive. The tools used in this study are digital thermometer, abrasion, stopwatch, thermometer, digital scales while the materials used are ramie fibers, coconut shell charcoal, and epoxy resin. Comparison of a mixture of ramie fiber, coconut shell powder, and epoxy resin namely for canvas 1 (30:30:40 %), canvas 2 (20:40:40 %), and (40:20:40 %). The lowest abrasion rate value in the 3rd sample with a composition (40 % ramie fiber, coconut shell charcoal powder 20 %, and 40 % epoxy resin) is 0,00071 gr/ s, the thermal conductivity value of the material drops at 30 % ramie content and increases in the 40 % content of ramie.Keywords: brake lining, abrasion rate, thermal conductivity, ramie and epoxy

Abstract

Waste is a residual production material that contains substances capable of causing pollution and health disturbances. One of the waste types frequently encountered is cigarette filter waste and wood powder waste, both of which are managed minimally. This research aims to determine the influence of the composition of a mixture of cigarette filter waste and wood powder waste on sound absorption in composite materials. The method involved preparing the necessary tools and materials, then creating composites with fractions (65%, 20%: 10%, 15%), (60%, 20%: 13%, 7%), and (55%, 20%: 15%, 10%). Subsequently, sound absorption testing was conducted using the direct method following ISO 11654 standards. Results from the sound absorption testing at a frequency of 500 Hz showed the highest sound intensity value in the fraction (65%, 20%: 10%, 15%) at 104,833 dBa and the lowest in the fraction (55%, 20%: 15%, 10%) at 93,333 dBa. The highest sound absorption coefficient value was found in the fraction (55%, 20%: 15%, 10%) at 0,202, while the lowest was in the fraction (65%, 20%: 10%, 15%) at 0,104. As the volume of acoustic material from cigarette filter waste and wood powder waste increased, the sound absorption coefficient also increased. The best sound absorption coefficient value was observed in the fraction (55%, 20%: 15%, 10%) at 0,202

Abstract

The machining process is a manufacturing process where the main process is removing or removing some of the material from a basic material which can be in the form of a shaft so that it meets the desired shape and quality. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the rotational speed of the lathe spindle on the value of Unit Horse Power (UHP) in the low carbon steel turning process. The study used carbon steel material in the form of a cylinder with an initial diameter of 40 mm and a length of 150 mm. The cylindrical workpiece is turned with a depth of 1 mm at various speeds, namely 95 rpm, 130 rpm and 180 rpm. The results showed that the rotational speed of the lathe spindle affects the value of the unit horse power (UHP). The higher the spindle rotation of the lathe, the greater the UHP obtained, where the highest UHP occurs at 180 rpm with a UHP value of 0.00030 and the lowest UHP. found in round 130 with a UHP value of 0.00016. High rotation causes a large force so that the vibration of the lathe tool is even greater.Keywords: Lathe process, carbon steel, spindle rotation.

Abstract

Energy is a basic human need, which continues to increase. Fossil fuels are one of the limited fuels. The purpose of the study is the analysis of the production process and application of cashew skin oil pyrolysis as an alternative fuel. A variation in the size of the material to obtain a liquid product pyrolysis results and perform testing pyrolysis results with the flame test. Pyrolysis carried out at a temperature of 300-400 oC. Performed pyrolysis with some variation in the size of the material, namely coarse, medium and smooth. The results of the study showed the higher the pyrolysis temperature the more liquid product mass-produced. Cashew seed skin pyrolysis by using ordinary water-cooling media produces 210 ml of liquid product, ICE cooler produces a liquid product of 225 ml and use the air-cooling medium by 160 ml. Second variation using skin Cashew nut medium with ordinary water pending media of liquid generated at 170 ml, ice water 165 ml and air 172 ml. The third variation of using cashew skin smoothly with regular water cooling produces a fluid of 217 ml, ES 220 and air 167 ml. Conducted research on the analysis of the production process and application of cashew skin oil pyrolysis as an alternative fuel.Keywords: energy, cashew skin, and pyrolysis

Abstract

This study aims to determine the stress distribution on grain carriers. In this study frame construction was designed using autodesk inventor software and simulation using ansys software. Carbon stell material with a load of 175 kg is used as a frame material in this analysis. The results show that the maximum stress that occurs in the frame reaches 38,238 N/m2 from the simulation results while in manual calculations the voltage is reached 33,981 N/m.Keywords: Frames, Ansys software simulation, voltage distribution.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effective shaft diameter in the design analysis of polishing machines in the manufacture of camshaft, determine the suitability of the V-belt, determine the service life of the bearing, determine the ability to accept seat loads. The method used in this research is the literature review method, namely by analyzing the primary data of the components of the tool to get the values that occur in the tool. The results of the calculation of the shaft suitability analysis obtained a suitable shaft with a diameter of 13 mm which has a rotational deflection smaller than the deflection limit of 0.061o < 0.3o. Based on the calculation of the V belt, size of the V belt selected is on the market, namely the V belt type A No. 37 with a length of L = 940 mm. From the calculation results, bearing is having a lifespan of 2603.838 hours. The strength analysis of the camshaft holder using the DS Abaqus software was found not to exceed the allowable deflection limit, namely: 2.736e-09 mm <0.417mm considered safe to be used. Meanwhile the analysis of the sandpaper seat is still lower than the limit’s value or 1.786e-09 mm < 0.694mm. Thus, the sandpaper holder is said to be safe in resisting the working forces.Kata kunci: camshaft, modification, shaft,  v belt.

Abstract

In the industrial world, the development of material technology is growing rapidly. Various kinds of materials have been used and further research is being carried out to obtain the right materials, one of which is composite materials. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the tensile strength of the composite material reinforced with sago pulp. In this study, the manufacture of composites using the hand lay up method. then the fiber is given alkaline treatment by soaking in a solution of NaOH (Sodium Hydroxide) with a concentration of 5% for 1 hour, 2 hours and without treatment. From the results obtained, immersion for 1 hour has the highest tensile stress of 10,456 N/mm², followed by immersion for 2 hours of tensile stress of 7.189 N/mm². While without treatment has the lowest tensile stress of 4.955 N/mm². This shows that the treatment will affect the tensile stress.Kata kunci: Sago drgs,tensile strength,alkali

Abstract

The increasing public interest in the need for adequate housing, especially the boarding house business, is one of the facilities that has great opportunities every year. The need for clean water in a boarding house environment is a factor that needs to be considered because clean water is an important need in human life. The water reservoir frame design with a capacity of 1200 liters is an optimized solution to meet the daily water needs of boarding house residents. The aim of this research is to design a water reservoir frame for water loads and carry out structural calculations of the water reservoir frame in accordance with applicable safety and strength standards. The research methodology explains in detail the research method which includes time and place of research, tools and materials, research procedures and research flow diagrams.
