Abstract

Indonesia is a pluralistic and tolerant country with the largest Muslim population in the world. Various ethnicities, cultures, and religions thrive in Indonesia. This diversity is, on the one hand, a noble value, but on the other hand, it has led to conflicts among fellow citizens due to the misuse of the true meaning of tolerance. Therefore, it is crucial to have an understanding of the concept of tolerance along with its rules to create a harmonious and respectful coexistence among religious communities in Indonesia. This research was conducted to find out the meaning of tolerance according to Indonesian ulama who are active in crucial activities for religious relations in Indonesia by referring to the QS. Al-Mumlahanah in the interpretation of Bun-Yanun Marshush. The research employs a literature review using qualitative analysis techniques and a thematic (maudhui) method. Data collection is based on documentation techniques, where primary data is sourced from the Qur’an and the book “Tafsir Al-Qur’an Juz XXVIII Juz Qad Sami’ Allah Bun-Yanun Marshush” (A Solid Building). Secondary data is drawn from various relevant tafsir books, publications, and journals related to the subject, which are then comprehensively studied. In conclusion, this research finds that: 1) Allah does not prohibit Muslims from aiding non-Muslims with the condition that they do not act hostile towards and expel Muslims from their homeland, and 2) the prohibition forming friendships with those who assist non-Muslims in their hostility against Muslims, with a clear distinction between right and wrong

This is one of the reasons for raising the theme in this thematic study. Research that aims to reveal more deeply the meaning of al-raja' in the Qur'an so that it is expected to be applied in everyday life, and make the concept of al-raja' as a motivation in facing every phase of life that will be lived. This study uses thematic method of interpretation (mauḍū’i) by collecting verses about al-raja' in the Qur'an along with data related to the study of the meaning of al-raja'. There are 7 concepts of al-raja' in the Qur'an that are more applicable in contrast to previous studies that tend to be overshadowed by Sufism studies, namely: hope for Allah Swt., prayer, tawakkal, hope for forgiveness, hope for just retribution, hope for obedience, and hope for guidance. This concept is expected to be applied easily in every situation, so that it becomes a source of strength, peace, and comfort for individuals in facing life's challenges and tests.

Abstract

The ishārī interpretation is one of the style or form in the tafsir studies. On the one hand, ishāri was considered to have a positive impact on the interpretation of the al-Qur’an and on the other hand, it was considered a deviant kind of interpretation from al-maqāsid al-shar’iyyah or even contrary to the al-Qur’an and hadīth as the main source in interpreting the al-Qur’an. Therefore, scholars make provisions, criteria, and requirement in interpretation. The mufassir classifies what is considered the main (al-asīl) or basis in an interpretation, and which is considered as abuses (al-dakhīl) in an interpretation. From this academic problem, the discipline of al-asīl wa al-dakhīl fi al-tafsīr was emergent. This research aims to aim to discovere out meeting point the ishāri interpretation, whether it is true or worthy of being considered as al-dakhīl in interpretation or is it necessary to reconstruct the definition, type, or division in the knowledge of al-asīl and al-dakhīl? This study uses the content analysis method so that discussions and conclusions can be traced so that it can produce a neat and orderly conclusion, which in turn results in a conclusion that the ishārī interpretation will be considered and categorized as al-asīl if it meets several conditions: a) the interpretation does not contradict the meaning of z}ahir the end of the verse, b) the interpretation must not contradict reason and sharī'ah, and c) between the interpretation and the interpretation interpreted there is a relationship and correlation.

Abstract

Patriarchy is a viewpoint that positions men as superior to women. This perspective is considered legal by many Muslims, using QS. An-Nisa’ verse 34 as its main foundation. This study discusses the word qawwam in that verse to find the correlation between Quraish Shihab's interpretation in Tafsir al-Mishbah and neuroscience, answering whether a husband being qawwam in a household is a privilege that justifies patriarchy and whether, from a neuroscience perspective, he is fit to be a leader. This research is a thematic study using library research methods with data analysis techniques in the form of content analysis. From this research, it can be concluded that, in terms of neuroscience, the responsibility of a man to be qawwam—having an instinct to protect as he is responsible—is a gift directly given by Allah. Men are endowed by Allah with a hypothalamus that is two and a half times larger than that of women. Thus, from a neuroscience perspective, men are more suited to be leaders in the household, which in the Qur’an is referred to as qawwam. However, women are also given advantages by Allah with a corpus callosum that is thicker than that of men. In Tafsir al-Mishbah, the word qawwam is interpreted as a leader and guardian in the sense of fulfilling needs, attention, care, defense, and nurturing. Therefore, the leadership given to the husband is not a privilege but a responsibility that must be carried out properly. The patriarchal culture that views men as superior to women, leading to the neglect of women's rights in the household, is not the leadership desired by the Qur'an and is supported by neuroscience.

Abstract

The Qur’an, as a guide for every Muslim, is understood as a sentiment that is able to manifest the cultural behavior of society. In one study, understanding and meaning between the Al-Qur’an and life is called “living Qur’an”. This living Qur’an research discusses the use of Surah Al-Qadr as a talisman in farming in the rokat sabe tradition of the Dawuhan community, Probolinggo, which aims to describe how society emulates the function of the Al-Qur’an in everyday life. This type of research is qualitative research using descriptive-analytical inductive patterns. The research results show that this tradition is a tradition left by previous ancestors. In this tradition, people believe that Surah Al-Qadr is a reading that can bring glory and prosperity and can fertilize plants, based on Surah Al-Qadr, which means “glory”. This is consistent with Quraish Sihab’s argument in Tafsir Al-Misbah, which explains that the Al-Qur’an is noble; it was revealed to a nobleman (the prophet Muhammad), and its glory increased by being revealed on a noble night, too. Apart from that, local people are also famous for the term “santri nderek Kiai” because they have a santri spirit and are very obedient to kiai, who are considered religious figures and local regional leaders. This is proven by the existence of several religious rituals in the Rokat Sabe tradition, namely making the Surah Al-Qadr as a talisman for farming.

Abstract

Sleep is a biological need for humans, but excessive sleep will hurt the balance of the brain, so that you will experience headaches and back pain. The Qur’an states that Ashabul Kahf sleeps long and is conscious and healthy. This is in contrast, considering that humans are generally only able to survive with a time limit of 7-8 hours each day. This study aims to understand the continuity of the Qur’an and science regarding the phenomenon of Ashabul Kahf's sleep in the Qur'an in QS. Al-Kahf verses 11, 18 and 19. If measured from habits, sleeping with a long intensity will cause many diseases, but it differs from Ashabul Kahf, who has slept for 309 years and is awake in good health. This study uses a library research study with a descriptive analysis method and uses the maudhu’i (thematic) method in interpreting verses of the Qur’an. Finally, this research concludes that 1) in verse 11, Allah closes Ashabul Kahf's ears by deactivating the ascending reticular activating system so that Ashabul Kahfi does not hear any sound from outside, 2) in verse 17, Allah removes sunlight from Ashabul Kahfi's body, and Allah also does not cover the sun completely, because excessive exposure to sunlight will cause sunburn and damage the genetic material in Cancer Research UK skin cells, and 3) in verse 18 Allah turns Ashabul Kahf’s body back and forth, because turning the body back and forth can keep the skin so that undamaged by the ground Tidur menjadi kebutuhan biologis manusia, akan tetapi tidur secara berlebihan akan berdampak buruk kepada keseimbangan otak, sehingga akan mengalami sakit kepala dan nyeri punggung.

Abstract

It is well known that in Surah Yâsin, there are several discussions, one of which is the discussion on eschatology. This research was conducted to make it easier to know and review the eschatology in surah Yâsin. The researcher chose Hamâmî Zâdah as the object of his book entitled Tafsîr Surah Yâsin because he is a modern Muslim scholar (12 H.) who has talked a lot about eschatology, but not much is highlighted it. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytic approach, which in the end, the researcher can conclude that the eschatological points in the Interpretation of Surah Yâsin written by Hamâmî Zâdah include; blowing of the trumpet, resurrection after death, mahshar, hisâb, handing over of charity books, mîzân, shirath, heaven, hell and the existence (condition) of people who are in heaven or hell. This study of eschatology serves as material for reflection on the metaphysics of the afterlife and motivation and education for all of us to live a better life and adequately prepare for the next life.

Abstract

Abstract

The concept of Living Qur'an emphasizes the implementation of Qur'anic teachings in daily life, not just reading and memorizing activities, by adjusting Qur'anic values to the local cultural context. This research examines the tradition of Lolobaran Agung in Dusun Panggung, Sumenep, as one of the Living Qur'an phenomena. This tradition integrates the recitation of the Qur'an, tahlil, joint prayer, and interpretation of Surah Az-Zumar verses 71-75 with local wisdom inherited from the ancestors. Through Emile Durkheim's social fact theory and mechanical solidarity approach, this tradition is analyzed as a collective practice that strengthens social relations, builds collective awareness, and preserves local cultural identity. This research shows that Lolobaran Agung is not only a spiritual means to strengthen faith, but also a tool to face the challenges of globalization by maintaining religious values and local culture. This research uses a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach to analyze the Living Qur'an phenomenon in the context of the relationship between religion, tradition and society. In addition, this research expands the scope of Living Qur'an studies through a socio-cultural perspective that highlights the dynamics of the interaction of the three.

Abstract

In this modern era, mental health is an important aspect of human life that is often overlooked. The practice of dhikr, as a form of Islamic meditation, has been recognized in the Islamic tradition as a way to get closer to Allah and calm the soul. This study aims to identify the effect of dhikr on brain neuroplasticity and its implications for mental health. Using the thematic tafsir method, this study collects and analyzes Qur'anic verses related to dhikr and mental health, and examines books of tafsir as primary data sources, while secondary data are taken from books and scientific journal articles. The results show that the practice of dhikr can result in the formation of new neural pathways related to concentration, emotional control, and improved cognitive abilities. Regular dhikr activities are proven to strengthen the brain's synaptic connections and improve the optimization of brain function through engaged focus. These findings indicate a convergence between spiritual practices and scientific findings, making dhikr an effective way to improve mental health and overall quality of life
