Abstract

This study was intended to examine the characteristics of the HRS-WC mixture by utilizing the Makawa river stone aggregate in North Walenrang District based on laboratory testing. The methodology in this research is to conduct a series of characteristics testing in the form of coarse aggregate, fine aggregate, filler and asphalt and then design the composition of the mixture then make the specimen in the form of HRS-WC mixture and conventional Marshall test for the determination of KAO after that making KAO test specimens to obtain the Immersion Index ( IP) / Residual Strength Index (IKS). The results of research conducted at the Road and Asphalt Laboratory of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Indonesian Christian University Paulus Makassar, showed that the characteristics of the pavement material in the form of Makawa river stone aggregate in North Walenrang sub-district met the specifications of the road surface layer material. Through the Marshall test the HRS-WC mix characteristics were obtained with asphalt content of 5.9%, 6.4%, 6.9%, 7.4%, 7.9% fulfilling the requirements issued by the Directorate General of Highways of the Ministry of Public Works of the Republic of Indonesia , General Specifications2018. Marshall Immersion test results of HRS-WC mixture at optimum asphalt content of 6.4% get a Soaking Index (IP) / Residual Strength Index (IKS) / Durability of a mixture of 94.41% which means it exceeds the boundary conditions of ≥ 90% so the mixture is resistant to soaking in water.

Abstract

This research is intended to study the characteristics of a mixture of AC-BC using plastic bag waste as added material. Mixing is done by adding pieces of plastic to the asphalt mixture using a dry method. The method in this research is to conduct a series of testing the characteristics of coarse, fine, and filler aggregates then design the AC-BC mixture composition and Marshall testing to obtain mixture characteristics and Marshall Immersion testing to obtain the residual strength index (IKS). Through the Marshall test, the level of plastic bag waste used is 0%, 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, and 2%. The results of research conducted at the Road and Asphalt Laboratory of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Indonesian Christian University, Paulus Makassar, showed that the use of additives in intermediate asphalt concrete mixtures can increase stability values. The stability value due to the addition of plastic to the asphalt mixture increases compared to asphalt mixture without plastic. The level of good addition of plastic to asphalt mix is 2% because in addition to the high stability value, Marshall parameters such as VIM, Flow, VMA, and VFB have also fulfilled the 2018 Directorate General of Highways Specifications.

Abstract

The availability of stones in the Batupapan River and when examined meets the Highways Standard to be used as a mixture of pavement for paving so that the people around Telluwanua District, Luwu Regency and Palopo City can use it to improve the community's economy and support the availability of materials for the government. The purpose of this study was to determine the use of Batupapan River Stones in Telluwanua Subdistrict, Luwu Regency as a mixture of Laston Layer Foundation (AC-BC) by testing the characteristics of the material used and testing the resistance to water immersion by analyzing the remaining Marshall Stability. The method used is an experimental method that is carried out at the Road and Asphalt Laboratory of the Civil Engineering Study Program of Paulus Indonesia Christian University. The results of testing the characteristics of the Laston Lapis mixture of the foundation and the characteristics of the asphalt mixture are all in accordance with the specifications or standards used. For conventional Marshall testing the characteristics, stability, fluidity, VIM, both VMA and VFB meet all specifications issued by the Director General. The results of the Marshall Bina Marga immersion test in the general specifications of Bina Marga Bina Marga 2018 Division 6 and the remaining Marshal Stability Value (SMS) used below the optimum asphalt content (KAO) of 5.00% is 98.04%, so it can be said that the general specifications on Bina Marga 2018, because the value is not less than 90%.
