Abstract

This study examines the intellectual and cultural transformation in the development of Islam following the Mongol invasion in the 13th century. The Mongol invasion, which destroyed many centers of Islamic civilization such as Baghdad, triggered a significant phase of reconstruction and adaptation in the Islamic world. The Mongol rulers who later embraced Islam played a crucial role in supporting the rebuilding of the destroyed cities and establishing new centers of learning. This study employs the Library Research method. It demonstrates how Islam was able to adapt and thrive despite facing great challenges. These findings highlight the ability of Islamic civilization to recover from destruction, generate innovation, and expand its intellectual and cultural heritage. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of the dynamics of adaptation and revitalization in the history of Islamic civilization.

Abstract

The mboho oi ndeu tradition is one of the threads of the Bima Community wedding process, a tradition that has long been carried out by our ancestors. The Bima people know the marriage process with the term NIKA RA NEKU, in which there is a structure of traditional processes that must be carried out by the prospective bride and groom as follows: panati, ngge'e nuru, wa'a co'i mbolo weki, tek ra ne'e, Peta Kapanca, lafa nika (marriage contract), Mboho oi ndeu. The shift in this traditional procession has shifted along with social changes such as the development of industrial and information technology and local communities who have other activities, so that the traditional process no longer uses energy (non-material). but in its implementation, it is replaced by money (material) in each implementation. Therefore, researchers here want to study one of the processes of implementing Bima Community wedding customs, namely the Mboho Oi Ndeu process. This article will explain how the Mboho Oi ndeu traditional tradition is related to the history of Islamic culture, where in general the Bima people are predominantly Muslim and every Islamic value is carried out in life, blending with local culture. This research is descriptive in nature, using qualitative methodology. This method is used to easily explain a phenomenon that occurs in the Bima community, especially by using cultural studies.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the factors that occur when Engagements and Ring Exchanges occur and how they are resolved in Karampuang Village as well as understanding more deeply the relevance of these settlements to Islamic law and KHI that apply in Indonesia. This is so that we can encourage people to realize the importance of knowing these customs in order to avoid undesirable things, both among intellectuals and among lay people. So what is used is a qualitative method which includes observation, as well as direct observation in the field. Furthermore, the results of this research show that there are several factors in the occurrence of customs of engagement and exchanging rings, and the most dominant or frequently occurring in the field is the factor when rings are worn between both parties and the factor of wearing gold rings for men. The traditional practice of engagement and exchanging rings in Karampuang Village is the procession of wearing a ring on the left ring finger using a gold ring, which is marked as a link between the two parties and is a symbol of someone's marriage proposal, with the aim of following the ring ceremony process. Islamic legal provisions regarding the tradition of exchanging rings in Karampuang Village need to be adjusted to Islamic law. Because the exchange of rings is a bond and this tradition also uses gold which is prohibited for men to wear, the solution that approaches Islamic rules for exchanging rings for the bride and groom is when the families of both parties take over. In this implementation, the bride is fitted with a ring by a woman from the man's family, for example. After reviewing several hadiths, almost all of them point to prohibitions, so the best solution is not to use a gold ring, the groom can replace it with a ring made of iron, because there is no prohibition

Abstract

This article aims to investigate local cultural problems in the era of globalization, especially in South Sulawesi, and analyze the challenges and relevant solutions to dealing with these problems in the era of globalization. One of the factors causing local culture to be forgotten nowadays is the lack of interest or desire in the next generation to learn and inherit their own culture. Apart from that, the influence of globalization in this era has had a huge impact on society, especially local culture., in South Sulawesi itself. Therefore, the aim of writing this article is to present the challenges and solutions for preserving local culture in the era of globalization. The method used is a qualitative method with descriptive analysis. According to Malinowski, a higher and more active culture will influence a lower and more passive culture through cultural contact. This theory is very visible in the shift in cultural values, which, in the era of globalization, has become a very powerful force in influencing people's thinking patterns. To overcome this, it is necessary to be aware of the importance of local culture as a characteristic of a particular region or nation. Every level of society must preserve it, where the role of the younger generation is highly expected to continue trying to inherit local culture and will be a strength for the existence of local culture itself even though it is hit by the current of globalization

Abstract

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the practice of uang pannai in Bugis marriage customs and examine the perspective of Islamic law on this local tradition. This research is important because the escalation of the value of the “uang pannai“ has created an economic burden that prevents young couples from marrying, resulting in a shift from the original philosophical meaning of the tradition that emphasizes honor and reward. This phenomenon requires harmonization between local cultural practices and Islamic values in the context of a multicultural society. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive-analytical approach through literature studies, using primary data from the Quran, hadith, and classical and contemporary fiqh literature, as well as secondary data from relevant books, scientific journals, and previous research. The results of the study show that uang pannai ' has a deep social meaning in the Bugis society as a symbol of honor, an instrument of social status affirmation, and a medium for family unification. From the perspective of Islamic law, this tradition is acceptable as long as it does not conflict with sharia principles, especially when evaluated through the framework of sharia maqasid. The research concludes that the harmonization between the tradition of uang panai' and Islamic values can be achieved through moderation in the determination of amounts, emphasis on symbolic meaning, and integration with dowry, so that cultural heritage is maintained while maintaining conformity with Islamic teachings.
