Abstract

Character values in Hinduism contain many lessons about ethics, morals and manners.  The educational system could be found, for example, in the Adiparwa text, which is a part of the Mahabharata that tells about the birth of The Garuda, how he saved his mother from slavery and eventually became Lord Vishnu's mount.  In this Adiparwa, there is an interesting part of The Garuda's story.  Through this literature study, a narrative about the Garuda was obtained which was then made into a short story in the form of a synopsis.  Based on the research, the setting could be found in the story includes time and places where the story took place.  By this literature search, the characters of and in The Garuda story could also be formulated.  Based on the writing, five characters of education are found, which are reflected in the story that tells the students (The Kadru, The Winata, the dragons, The Garuda and Lord Vishnu). As for the character education in question, its botom lines are as follows: religious, honest, disciplined, hard working and responsible.

The implementation of aci by Pitulikur Village experienced disharmony and was not satisfactory to the community of Desa Adat Duda. The method of writing is a qualitative description with primary and secondary data sources. The theories used are Structuration Theory and Functional Structural Theory. Factors causing disharmony are internal and external factors that disrupt the balance of energy in sekala and niskala. The role of Pitulikur Village based on Awig-Awig Desa Adat Duda is to organize Aci Usaba Emping, Usaba Kapat, Usaba Bangket, Aci Mendak at Ulun Siwi Temple, Metabuhin, and Aci Usaba Dalem. Pitulikur Village functions according to the concept of Catur Lawa and Prasadam Bangun Urip; namely, Pasek functions as a mass mobilizer in prasadam getting puspusan / feet. Kebayan functions to organize, manage resources. In prasadam get polo/brain. Penyarikan functions as secretary, in prasadam gets ikuh/tail. Members/Jro Desa get prasadam in addition to feet, brain, and tail. This research found that the existence of Pitulikur Village strengthens the organization of aci in Desa Adat Duda, because it gets the legality of authority both in sekala and niskala through the existence of sacred buildings of Pasek, Kebayan, and Penyarikan in the main mandala of Pura Puseh and Pura Desa (Bale Agung). The organization of aci can be harmonious with the functioning of agil.

Abstract

The determination of dewasa ayu (auspicious day) in Hindu marriage ceremonies according to the Lontar Panca Kanda is not merely a tradition, but a manifestation of spiritual teachings that emphasize the importance of human harmony with the cosmic order. By selecting a time that is astrologically and spiritually appropriate, Hindus believe that marriage will receive divine blessings, harmony, and happiness, and become part of a sacred journey toward a higher purpose in life. Many young couples may not be particularly concerned with tradition or may not fully understand the importance of choosing a traditional lunar month. They tend to prefer a time that aligns with their personal schedules and preferences. The younger generation may have different views on tradition and are more inclined to prioritize practical and personal aspects in planning a wedding. Nevertheless, determining dewasa ayu is crucial before conducting a wedding ceremony. The aims of this study are to analyze why determining dewasa ayu is important in Hindu wedding ceremonies, how dewasa ayu is determined, and what theological meanings are embodied in the determination of dewasa ayu for those performing the ceremony. The research methods used include observation, interviews, and literature study. The results show that the Lontar Panca Kanda serves as one of the main guidelines for determining dewasa ayu, as it contains the principles of wariga (Balinese astrological calendar) and cosmic balance. A good day is chosen not merely because it is free from obstacles, but when cosmic and spiritual constellations are in harmony. This makes the wedding ceremony a form of human participation in the sacred cosmic order. The selection of an auspicious day involves meticulous astrological calculations including the positions of planets, lunar phases, weekdays, astrological combinations, and the compatibility of both partners' horoscopes. All of this is intended to ensure that the marriage begins under the most favorable cosmic energy, thereby minimizing the risk of disharmony and enhancing good fortune and harmony in the household.
