Abstract

Mathematical self-efficacy is a person's self-confidence in mathematics. The perceived ability of students towards mathematics lessons provides the right action in solving any math problems or real life in general. Diagnosing the level of self-efficacy can be done using the help of an application. Using a self-efficacy diagnostic application is the same as consulting an expert. The type of research conducted is Research and Development (R&D). The research method uses the ADDIE stages which include the analysis, design, development and implementation stages. The results of the study revealed that the media expert's average score was 4.05 (decent). Students' positive response to the self- efficacy diagnostic application developed was 3.5 or 85% which was classified as very good. So the self-efficacy diagnostic application can be used as an alternative to determine the level of students' self-efficacy towards mathematics

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to build a category of vector field material in Multivariable Calculus learning into the values of Al Islam and Muhammadiyah. The content analysis method uses MaxQDA to code the terms that emerge from the interview texts generated by the participants related to the intersection of the two subjects. The selection of participants is important in order to avoid bias in the description of the interview. Participants were selected 5 out of 31 students based on their knowledge of Multivariable Calculus material and experience in participating in organizational activities of the Muhammadiyah Student Association and the Orientation of Islamic Fundamentals. The results showed that there were three key categories, namely, death, hard work, and brotherhood. Since the vector principle is the same as the beginning of life and the final destination of a person, vector material is closely related to death. Likewise, integral material has a connection with hard work because the principle of line integral can be seen in line with the efforts made by someone. The vector field material is related to the theme of brotherhood because the principle of the vector field is in groups that can be seen as a collection of people. Keywords: vector field, islam, muhammadiyah, multivariable calculus. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i3.pp751-764

Abstract

Mathematics is an abstract subject so it is considered a difficult subject for some students and students. Language is a human communication tool. The use of language that is well structured and precise will make it easier for the interlocutor to understand what is being conveyed, this also applies in learning. The level of students' understanding of the material presented by educators is the main factor that can affect student learning outcomes. The method used in this research is bibliometric analysis method. Bibliometric analysis is a research method used by researchers to find the widest possible information related to keywords in the research to be carried out. The objectives of this research are, among others: (1) To find out trends regarding language research in mathematics learning communication. (2) To find out the great opportunities for further research on the topic of language in mathematics learning communication. The researcher found that there have been many studies with the keyword “mathematics”, but there is still little research related to mathematics learning, mathematics outcomes and quality. This can be an opportunity for further research to conduct research on these three keywords.

Abstract

Ethnomathematics integrates cultural elements into mathematics learning, fostering students' conceptual understanding while preserving cultural heritage. Ethnomathematics in religious architecture offers a unique perspective on the relationship between mathematical concepts and cultural values. This study aims to explore the ethnomathematical aspects of the Al-Barkah Great Mosque in Bekasi by analyzing its symbolic and geometric elements. A qualitative research approach with a realist ethnographic method was employed, incorporating interviews, observations, documentation, and literature reviews to examine the mathematical structures embedded in the mosque’s architectural design. The findings reveal that the Al-Barkah Great Mosque exhibits various geometric shapes and transformation elements, including reflection, rotation, and translation, which hold both cultural and spiritual significance. These mathematical features serve as concrete representations that enhance students' comprehension of geometric concepts. The study concludes that integrating ethnomathematics into geometry learning provides an engaging and meaningful context for students, connecting mathematical theories with real-world cultural artifacts. The implications of this study include enriching geometry instruction through cultural perspectives and providing educators with culturally relevant resources to enhance student learning and appreciation of mathematical concepts.

Abstract

Analyzing the efficiency of using flashcard media on students' thinking skills related to the topic of polygons using the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in class IV SDIT Global Insan Madani. The basis of this study began with the low learning achievement of students in mathematics, especially in geometry material, due to monotonous teaching methods and minimal variation in learning media. The method applied in this study is the One Group Pretest-Posttest Design, involving 24 students as samples. The findings of the study indicate that the use of flashcard media in mathematics learning with the PBL approach can significantly improve students' cognitive abilities. Flashcards play a role in visualizing concepts and facilitating understanding of the material, while PBL increases students' active participation in solving problems. The combination of these two methods has proven effective in deepening understanding of the concept of polygons and increasing students' learning motivation. This study recommends the use of flashcard media as an innovation in teaching to improve mathematics learning outcomes at the elementary school level.

Abstract

Preschool education is important for developing children’s social and cognitive skills, with early mathematical ability being a strong predictor of future success. This study evaluated the psychometric properties of the Preschool Home Mathematics Questionnaire (PHMQ) using Rasch Model Analysis. A total of 95 parents and guardians of preschool-aged children participated in the study. A total of 37 Likert-scale items were analysed. The results showed excellent person reliability (0.93) and item reliability (0.96), indicating strong consistency and well-targeted item difficulty. Of the 37 items, 32 were valid according to the Rasch fit criteria, while five items (Q13, Q15, Q22, Q24, and Q26) showed misfit based on the Outfit mean square (MNSQ), Z-standard (ZSTD), and PTMEA-CORR. The Likert scale functioned well with ordered thresholds and smooth transitions between categories. The unidimensionality test confirmed that the PHMQ measures a single construct, with 44.1% of the variance explained and only 12.8% unexplained in the first contrast. While the PHMQ shows good validity and reliability, this study focused only on basic Rasch validation. Future research should explore differential item functioning (DIF), item bias, and long-term stability to further improve this instrument and support its use in different settings.
