Abstract

The study aimed to observe the growth and yield of sweet corn in organic and inorganic cultivation systems. The experimental design in the study used a completely randomized block design with three replications. The treatments consisted of organic and inorganic cultivation systems. Observations included variables on growth components and yield components. Observation data were analyzed statistically using the t-test (Paired Two Sample for Means at P < 0,05). The results showed that sweet corn fertilized organically and inorganically had the same effect on growth components (plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, leaf length, leaf area, and leaf greenness) and yield components (cob height, cob length, and cob diameter with husks, cob length, cob diameter, and cob weight without husks, number of rows in the cob and number of seeds per row). Farmers can use the results of this study to choose fertilizers for cultivating sweet corn.

Abstract

One of the main challenges in maximizing the potential of coffee plantations is the low productivity and substandard quality that does not meet export requirements. The low productivity of coffee can be attributed to several factors, one of which is pest infestation. Identification of coffee insects is essential for effective pest management efforts and for breeders it is essential for early information in creating coffee plants that are resistant to insects. This study aims to identify the types of pests and assess the level of damage to coffee plants caused by pest attacks in coffee plantations located in Sambirejo Village, Selupu Rejang District, Rejang Lebong Regency. The research was conducted in December 2024 in the coffee plantations of Sambirejo Village. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed by collecting data through field observations and direct inspection of pests found on-site. The study was carried out at five different locations, with additional data gathered through interviews with local farmers. The findings revealed six pest species attacking coffee plants in the Sambirejo plantations: the mealybug (Pseudococcus lilacinus), green scale insect (Coccus viridis), black ants, stem borer (Zeuzera coffeae), coffee berry borer (Hypothenemus hampei), and grasshoppers (Xyronotidae). The extent of coffee plant damage due to pest attacks was categorized as follows: 72% light damage, 20% moderate damage, and 8% severe damage.

Abstract

ABSTRACT :Curup local ambon bananas are a leading commodity in Rejang Lebong district. Therefore it is necessary to maintain its genetic resources so that they do not become extinct. Tissue culture technique is the most modern method of propagation because it can grow uniformly, is free from pests and diseases, and produces quickly. However, maintenance of tissue culture seedlings at the acclimatization stage needs attention. Therefore researchers will examine the treatment of media and local banana varieties Curup on growth. The research was carried out in the plastic house at Pat Petulai University from December 2022 to March 2023. The materials used were yellow and green Ambon banana seeds resulting from tissue culture, a fungicide with an active ingredient of 80% monkozeb. This study aims to determine the best media and varieties that grow best at the acclimatization stage. The design of this study was a completely randomized design (CRD) with two factors, namely the planting medium and the local Ambon banana variety Curup. Each treatment was repeated 3 times with 2 plant samples so that there were 36 experimental units. Observations were made at the end of the study on all observation variables. The data obtained was then analyzed using the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) with a level of 1% if there is a difference then it will be tested further with the BNT Test (Smallest Significant Difference). The results showed that good planting media treatment was seen in soil + coffee husk media because it could increase the growth of plant height by 41.02 cm, the number of leaves was 6.92 strands, the stem diameter was 12.3 mm. However, the variable leaf width and leaf length showed good growth in soil + rice husk treatment. The longest leaf width is 12.35 cm and the length of the leaf is 13.51 cm. A good variety is ambon kuning because it can increase the leaf width by 11.65cm. The soil + coffee husk planting media is more dominant in influencing several variables because of the high nutrient content in the media. It can be recommended to Ambon kuning farmers to give good results.

Abstract

One of the important plant cultivation techniques in an effort to increase optimal shallot production is fertilization. Fertilizers provide plants with nutrients that are lacking in the soil. If one of the nutrients needed is lacking, plant growth will suffer and crop yields will decrease. Fertilizer application on shallot plants can use organic fertilizers, this type of fertilizer can meet the needs of shallots for macro and micro nutrients. The materials used in this study were: Batu Hijau red onion, goat manure, cow manure. Research methods This study used a Complete Randomized Block Design (RAKL), with 6 treatment levels. K0: Cow manure 0 tons/ha (polybag) + Goat manure 0 tons/ha (0 g/polybag), K1: Cow manure 0 tons/ha (0g/polybag) + Goat manure 12.5 tons/ ha (62.5g /polybag), K2:Cow manure 0 tons/ha (0g/polybag) + Goat manure 25 tons/ha (125g /polybag), K3:Cow manure 10 tons/ha (50g/polybag) )+Goat manure 0 tons/ha (0g/polybag), K4:Cow manure 10 tons/ha (50g/polybag)+Goat manure 12.5 tons/ha (62.5g/polybag), K5:Manure cowshed 10 tons/ha (50g/polybag) + goat manure 25 tons/ha (125g/polybag). Analyzed using the Anova test, further tested with the LSD test (Less Significant Difference) at the 5% level. Based on the results of the analysis of the smallest significant difference (LSD) test, it showed that 2.5 tons/ha of goat manure produced the highest number of leaves, namely 36 leaves.
