Abstract

Women today must carry out their duties as housewives and must also work to help the family economy. This study aims to analyze the causes of the dual role of women in Anjir Serapat Village, and to determine the position of women who work in their families. This research uses a qualitative approach with the type of field research. The research was conducted on female laborers at PT Kayu Lima Sejahtera in Anjir Serapat Tengah Village, East Kapuas District, Kapuas Regency, Central Kalimantan. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques through the stages of data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results show that women work as laborers to help meet household needs, which has an impact on financial sufficiency and helps create household harmony. However, this does not always have a positive impact, but also has a negative impact on women because they have to feel exhausted due to having to do household chores. Family time is also reduced, which makes their children more independent and able to understand their parents' work, regardless of their young age. This research shows that the existing social construction in society about the role of a good wife only around the domestic can be broken. In the Anjir Serapat Village community, it is women who hold a more dominant public role.

Abstract

Historically, jukung has an important role for the Kuin Kacil community, and women who are commonly called acil are more dominant in using jukung than men. This study aims to describe the activities of the Kuin Kacil community who use jukung, and analyze the role of women in the preservation of jukung. This research uses a qualitative method. The research was conducted in Kuin Kacil, Mantuil Village, Banjarmasin City, from May 2022 to November 2022. Data collection techniques used observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques through the stages of data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results showed that women in Kuin Kacil predominantly use jukung as a means of transportation, so the role of women in preserving jukung is very important. Jukung is considered more practical and in accordance with the characteristics of women who are more feminist. In addition, other transportation is considered less feasible to use in Kuin Kacil due to narrow road access. The existence of women who use jukung as a means of transportation is one of the reciprocal relationships to the existence of the jukung itself as a means of transportation. However, the existence of jukung as a means of transportation has the potential to be abandoned as the times develop. The younger generation prefers to use land transportation, such as two-wheeled vehicles. The younger generation considers jukung as an outdated and less modern (fashionable) means of transportation to be used in the present. Jukung preservation efforts are important as a cultural heritage of river communities, and as a means of transportation that is friendly to women and nature.

Abstract

Salah satu tradisi suku Banjar yang masih dilaksanakan masyarakat di masa sekarang adalah tradisi piduduk. Penelitian ini mengkaji tentang proses pelaksaan piduduk yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat pada kegiatan ritual malabuh, perkawinan, baayun maulid, batajak rumah. Penelitian ini berlokasi di Kuin Utara dan menggunakan jenis penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Teori yang digunakan yaitu teori tindakan sosial dari Max Weber. Pengumpulan data yang dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Analisis data menggunakan model Miles dan Huberman. Hasil dari penelitian menemukan bahwa setiap piduduk baik itu malabuh, perkawinan, batajak rumah dan baayun maulid memiliki isian piduduk dan proses pembuatan yang berbeda. Adapun alasan masyarakat Kuin melakukan tradisi piduduk dalam sudut pandang tindakan sosial yaitu karena adanya tindakan tradisional yang dilakukan berulang dari satu generasi sampai generasi sekarang. Tindakan rasional berorientasi nilai, dalam tindakan ini mereka melakukan tradisi piduduk didasarkan pada nilai yang bisa diambil seperti nilai sosial, nilai budaya dan nilai agama yang terkandung dalam tradisi tersebut. Yang terakhir tindakan afektif, masyarakat Kuin Utara melakukan tindakan ini karena ada keterlibatan dari perasaan atau ekspresi emosional seperti adanya rasa bangga dapat melestarikan tradisi piduduk.

Abstract

Manogo fishermen are a source of livelihood for the majority of the people of Bakambat Village, who are currently facing various complexities, such as environmental factors and others. This research aims to look at the adaptation patterns made by manogo fishermen from the problems they face, both at sea and on land. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. This research uses adaptation theory from John William Bennett. The results of the research show that manogo fishermen in Bakambat Village face various problems which include environmental factors, the use of illegal fishing gear by other fishermen, coal barges passing through the fishing areas of manogo fishermen, as well as regulations related to illegal logging. The problems faced have a huge impact on the economy of manogo fishermen, as well as threatening the local knowledge and wisdom of the people in Bakambat Village about manogo. The various problems faced gave rise to adaptation patterns that were implemented, such as moving fishing locations, installing several nets, moving fishing locations, variations in processed products, seeking compensation costs from coal barges, and the emergence of resistance. The adaptation pattern implemented is nothing more than a way for the livelihood of manogo fishermen to continue to survive, as well as how local knowledge and wisdom of manogo continues to exist for generations to come. It is hoped that the adaptation patterns implemented by manogo fishermen will continue to develop, such as the use of fishing gear to the processing process and continue to maintain Manogo as an identity even though big problems lie ahead.

Abstract

This study examines the acculturation of Chinese and Banjar cultures in the culinary traditions of Banjarmasin. Using a qualitative ethnographic approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, literature studies, and documentation. John W. Berry's acculturation theory serves as the analytical framework to understand the blending of these cultures. The findings reveal that Chinese culinary elements such as Jao To and noodles have been adapted, resulting in unique Banjar dishes like Soto Banjar and Mie Habang. A notable fusion is Sup Mutiara, a dish that exemplifies cultural integration. Additionally, Banjar influences appear in Chinese rituals such as Cap Go Me and Ceng Beng, demonstrated by offerings like Lontong Cap Go Me and wadai banjar. The acculturation process is attributed to historical interactions and mutual acceptance between Chinese and Banjar communities, highlighting the openness of Banjar society. This research underscores the reciprocal impact of cultural exchange on Banjarmasin's culinary diversity, positioning the city as a multicultural hub. Abstract

This study examines A Thousand Swings Banua’s: Baayun Maulid Tradition as Sustainable Religious Tourism at the Sacred Banua Halat Mosque. With This study examines "Banua of a Thousand Swings: The Baayun Maulid Tradition as a Sustainable Religious Tourism Event at the Keramat Mosque of Banua Halat." Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation. Two theoretical frameworks were employed: Colin Michael Hall's Cultural Sustainability Theory and Robert K. Merton's Structural Functionalism Theory. The findings reveal that the Baayun Maulid tradition in Banua Halat Kiri is a well-preserved cultural heritage managed by the local community. It has unique appeal, attracting numerous participants and sparking curiosity about the tradition. Beyond being a cultural practice, it is also framed as a religious tourism event. For the sustainability of this tourism initiative, it is essential to manage both the cultural sustainability aspects and the social functions or impacts effectivelya qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through observation, interviews and documentation. Using 2 theories, namely Colin Michael Hall's Cultural Sustainability Theory and Robert K. Merton's Structural Functional Theory. The results of this study reveal that the Baayun Maulid Tradition in Banua Halat Kiri Village is one of the traditional heritages that is still well managed by its community and has its own appeal with the many participants who follow the tradition so that it makes other people's curiosity even higher with the tradition and not just the implementation of the tradition but also a tradition that is packaged as religious tourism. Aspects of sustainability and existing functions or impacts must be managed simultaneously well, so that the tourism can continue.

Abstract

The lack of economic value of local commodities in Atiran Village, Batang Alai Timur sub-district, Hulu Sungai Tengah, is the background to the problem of economic stagnation experienced by the community. The team found that non-optimal commodity management, limited distribution channels and pest attacks are the main challenges that must be overcome so that local potential can be optimized. The lack of community knowledge about the added value of local commodities also worsened the condition. In an effort to answer these problems, the service team carried out 4 service activities, namely; (1) Mapping the root of the problem and potential; (2) Community awareness efforts; (3) Conducting discussions with the Department of Industry and Trade of Hulu Sungai Tengah Regency; and (4) Establishment of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes). The goal of this program is to raise community awareness of the value and potential in local commodities and to achieve sustainable economic development. The four program activities were conducted using a people-centered development approach. People-centered development or community development is a way of development so that community involvement is more mature. The implementation of this service lasted for 57 days, starting from July 18, 2024 to September 12, 2024. The achievements of this program include increasing community awareness of the potential of local commodities and the economic value of local commodities, as well as the formation of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes). With the cooperation between the village community and village officials as well as with related agencies, it can encourage the economic welfare of the Atiran Village community to achieve sustainable economic development, so that this village can be economically independent and can be more resilient in facing future challenges.

Abstract

The Kurir Singgang Community, also known as Babuhan Kurir, in North Barito, is a social group formed based on shared profession as couriers and a mutual interest in the world of automotive culture. Along with the passage of time and the dynamics of its members’ lives, the community has undergone significant changes in both membership composition and the forms of solidarity established. This study aims to explore how social solidarity within the Kurir Singgang community is formed, maintained, and developed, shifting from profession-based solidarity to solidarity rooted in shared interests and collective values across diverse backgrounds. A qualitative case study approach was employed, with data collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation of community activities. The findings reveal a transformation from an exclusive to an inclusive character as an adaptation to the challenges of courier work and changing member identities. Social solidarity, which initially stemmed from professional commonality, has been strengthened through cooperation, mutual assistance, and emotional attachment in the community’s daily life. This process aligns with Emile Durkheim’s theory of social solidarity, illustrating the transition from mechanical to organic solidarity. While the community has managed to endure and evolve, challenges remain, including differences in commitment levels and disparities in member participation. This research contributes to the broader study of community dynamics and social change in the context of informal labor societies. Future studies are recommended to focus on aspects of community leadership, mechanisms of collective decision-making, and the role of social media in shaping and sustaining social solidarity in the digital era.

Abstract

Integrasi adat dan agama bukan lagi hal yang asing terjadi dalam masyarakat Indonesia. Begitu pula integrasi yang terjadi dalam masyarakat Desa Tewah Pupuh yang mempertemukan adat lokal Kaharingan Daya Ma’anyan dengan agama Kristen. Secara ke-Tuhanan dan budaya, kedua hal tersebut jelas bertolak belakang, akan tetapi masyaratnya mampu bekerjasama untuk mencapai integrasi tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana proses pernikahan masyarakat Dayak Ma’anyan di Desa Tewah Pupuh dan mengidentifikasi baaimana integrasi sosial bisa terjadi antara agama Kristen dan adat lokal Dayak Ma’anyan di Desa Tewah Pupuh. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus yang menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi, dan analisis dokumen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa meskipun masyarakat Dayak Ma’anyan telah memeluk agama Kristen, mereka tetap mempertahankan adat istiadat lokal, seperti dalam konteks pernikahan. Integrasi antara adat istiadat lokal dan agama Kristen terjadi karena adanya kesadaran masyarakatnya untuk mencapai harmoni dan keseimbangan sosial di Desa Tewah Pupuh. Integrasi tersebut dapat dijelaskan melalui teori fungsionalisme struktural Talcott Parsons, yaitu AGIL (Adaptation, Goal Attainment, Integration, Latency). Dengan ini, agama dan adat khususnya dalam pernikahan tidak lagi bertolak belakang. Hal ini dikarenakan adanya penyesuaian-penyesuaian budaya dalam adat lokal dan agama Kristen.

Abstract

Kampus islami tidak hanya menjadi ruang akademik, tetapi kampus islami juga sebagai lingkungan sosial yang penuh dengan simbol simbol keislaman. Seperti aturan berpakaian dan aktivitas keagamaan. Dalam konteks ini, mahasiswa berinteraksi dan menyesuaikan diri melalui simbol-simbol tersebut untuk membentuk identitasnya. Namun, tidak semua mahasiswa menjalani nilai-nilai Islami secara konsisten. Beberapa menunjukkan sikap berbeda antara di dalam dan luar kampus, yang menggambarkan adanya ambivalensi. Penelitian ini mengkaji tentang interaksi simbolik yang dilakukan oleh mahasiswa ambivalen di Kampus Apung Islami. Dengan pendekatan fenomenologi kualitatif, data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Teori Interaksi Simbolik Oleh Geoge Herbert Mead digunakan sebagai kerangka analisis untuk memahami bentuk simbol yang diadaptasi oleh mahasiswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa mahasiswa ambivalen mengalami konflik dalam dirinya karena memiliki identitas berbeda menyesuaikan dengan lingkungan. Selain itu juga menemukan bahwa identitas diei mahasiswa ambivalen di kampus apung islami berupad hasil adaptasi nilai dan norma kampus upaya untuk diterima di lingkungan kampus. Dengan ini, identitas diri mahasiswa ambivalen tidaklah tunggal dikarenakan mereka harus menyesuaikan identitasnya ketika berada pada lingkungan tertentu.
