Abstract

Nicotiana tabacum, recognized as tobacco, has been reported its secondary metabolites and biological activities in the past decade. Madura is one of the islands in Indonesia that produces N. tabacum rapidly. In Madura, N. tabacum is called as bhekoh. Previously, antioxidant activity of N. tabacum leaves extracts has been reported. However, the extracts showed very low antioxidant activity due to low of the stock concentration. Accordingly, this research was aimed at the antibacterial and antioxidant evaluation of N. tabacum leaves from Madura with improvement of the concentration. Furthermore, N. tabacum leaves were extracted by using different solvents including n-hexane, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate, acetone, and methanol. The extracts have been evaluated their antibacterial activities by using colorimetric resazurin microtiter assay (REMA) method. The extracts have been assayed their antibacterial activities against both gram-positive and negative bacteria. While, the antioxidant evaluation has been determined by using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picryl-hydrazyl (DPPH) method. The result showed that the extracts have fine antibacterial and antioxidant activities. The methanol extract presented antioxidant activity with IC50 of 12.12 ppm compared to gallic acid as a standard. Furthermore, the acetone extract showed the highest antibacterial activity against Bacillus subtilis, Propionibacterium acnes, and Salmonella typhi with MIC of 0.31, 0.63, and 0.63 mg/mL, respectively, compared to ampicillin as a standard. In conclusion, the acetone and methanol extracts have the highest antibacterial and antioxidant activities. Therefore, our result suggested acetone and methanol extracts of N. tabacum leaves as antibacterial and antioxidant agents.

Abstract

Desa Kesek merupakan desa dengan keadaan lingkungan masih sangat asri dengan banyak tumbuhan sehingga banyak ditemukan sampah hingga seresah daun di jalan utama maupun gang kecil rumah penduduk dan dibiarkan begitu saja tanpa penanganan lanjut. Seresah yang ada di lingkungan desa kesek biasanya akan dibakar, padahal seresah bisa dimanfaatkan salah satunya sebagai pengusir nyamuk atau repellent.  Daun mimba merupakan tumbuhan yang paling sering ditemukan di desa kesek. Banyaknya tumbuhan di desa ini, membuat seserah daun khususnya daun mimba berserakan di jalan utama maupun gang rumah penduduk. Pemanfaatan seresah daun mimba (Azadirachta indica) dan teh hijau (Camellia Sinensis) untuk repellent sangat sesuai dengan kondisi lingkungan dan kandungan kimia daun yang mampu mengganggu pertumbuhan, reproduksi, dan metamorfosis serangga hingga penolak serangga. Tujuan dari pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah untuk memberikan (1) pemanfaatan limbah seresah daun mimba dan teh hijau sebagai penolak serangga (2) mentransformasi pengetahuan dan teknologi pemberantasan nyamuk dengan membuat obat nyamuk dari bahan-bahan alami yang mudah didapat di desa; (3) mendampingi ibu-ibu desa membuat repelan secara mandiri. Metode yang digunakan adalah orientasi desa, penyiapan alat dan bahan, perencanaan teknis, pelaksanaan sosialisasi, dan pelatihan pembuatan repelan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 19 peserta (100%) menunjukkan suatu peningkatan pemahaman terkait pemanfaatan seresah daun mimba dan teh hijau sebagai repellent.   Abstract. Kesek Village is a village where the environment is still very beautiful with lots of plants, so there is a lot of rubbish and leaf litter found on the main road and small alleys of people's houses and left like that without further handling. Litter in the Kesek village environment is usually burned, even though the litter can be used as a mosquito repellent or repellent. Neem leaves are the plant most often found in the village of Kesek. There are so many plants in this village that leaves, especially neem leaves, are scattered on the main roads and alleys of people's houses.Neem leaf litter (Azadirachta indica) and green tea (Camellia Sinensis) for repellents is very suitable for environmental conditions and the chemical content of leaves that can interfere growth, reproduction and metamorphosis of insects to repel insects. The purpose of this community service is to provide (1) utilization of neem leaf litter waste and green tea as insect repellent (2) transform knowledge and technology for eradicating mosquitoes by making mosquito repellent from natural ingredients that are easily available in the village; (3) accompany village women to make repellent independently. The methods are village orientation, preparation of tools and materials, technical planning, implementation of socialization, and training in making repellent. The results showed that 19 participants (100%) produced an increased understanding of the use neem leaf litter and green tea as repellents.

Abstract

One of the three implementations of the Tridharma of Higher Education is Community Service (PKM/Abdimas), which aims to offer solutions for accelerating business growth. One of the related topics is business strategy management, both for MSMEs and large-scale enterprises. This Abdimas activity is an analysis and synthesis of observations and studies regarding the business strategy of Pie Susu Dewata, Bali. Pie Susu Dewata is a cake product developed by PT Angga Cahaya Dewata and has become one of the leading pie susu products in Bali. The strategic management method we recommend uses the principles of the Business Model Canvas (BMC) and SWOT Analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) to describe the business model implemented by Pie Susu Dewata. In the BMC analysis, elements such as Customer Segments, Value Propositions, Channels, Revenue Streams, Key Resources, Customer Relationships, Key Activities, Key Partnerships, and Cost Structure are considered. This activity is expected to improve literacy on strategic management and raise awareness of the urgency and relevance of this field. The findings have a positive impact on the business development of Pie Susu Dewata, particularly in equipping management with up-to-date managerial insights. Abstrak. Satu dari tiga implementasi Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi adalah kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM/Abdimas) yang bertujuan untuk menawarkan solusi bagi akselerasi pertumbuhan usaha, di mana salah satu topik terkait adalah mengenai manajemen strategi dari usaha, baik berskala UMKM, maupun di skala besar. Kegiatan Abdimas ini merupakan analisis dan sintesis dari hasil pengamatan dan kajian mengenai strategi bisnis dari Pie Susu Dewata, Bali. Pie Susu Dewata adalah produk kue yang dikembangkan oleh PT Angga Cahaya Dewata dan menjadi salah satu produk pie susu terkemuka di Bali. Metode manajemen strategi yang kami rekomendasikan menggunakan prinsip Bisnis Model Canvas (BMC) dan Analisis SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Threat) dalam mendeskripsikan model bisnis yang yang dijalankan oleh Pie Susu Dewata. Dalam analisis BMC, dipertimbangkan unsur-unsur seperti Customer Segments, Value Propositions, Channels, Revenue Streams, Key Resources, Customer Relationships, Key Activities, Key Partnership, dan Cost Structure. Kegiatan diharapkan meningkatkan literasi mengenai manajemen strategi dan menumbuhkan kesadaran akan urgensi dan relevansi dari bidang manajemen strategi ini. Temuan memberikan dampak positif bagi pengembangan usaha bagi Pie Susu Dewata, khususnya dalam membekali pengelola dengan informasi wawasan terkini di topik manajerial.

Abstract

The fermentation of pineapple peel waste can yield a product in bioactive compounds, including an eco-enzyme that serves as both an antibacterial and antioxidant agent. By utilizing the fermentation process, the extraction of phenolic compounds is enhanced through the action of degrading enzymes produced by microorganisms. This study aims to explore the potential of fermenting pineapple peel waste from with varying fermentation durations of one month (designated as EE-1) and three months (designated as EE-3) to assess their antibacterial and antioxidant properties. The method research is purely experimental methodology with several testing phases: the preparation of the eco-enzyme, a disc diffusion test for antibacterial activity, the determination of the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) using the resazurin microtiter assay (REMA), and the assessment of antioxidant activity through the DPPH test. The result showed that the eco-enzyme fermentation has a dark brown color for EE-1 and a light brown color for EE-3, with a pH range of 3 to 3.2 and a sour pineapple aroma. EE-3 exhibited the highest antibacterial and antioxidant activity. It demonstrated strong inhibition against Propionibacterium acnes at concentrations of 100and 102, with MIC values of 3.13 mg/mL for Staphylococcus aureus, 12.5 mg/mL for Staphylococcus epidermidis, and 6.25 mg/mL for P. acnes. The minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) was found to be 25 mg/mL for all tested bacteria, while the antioxidant activity of EE-3 was indicated by an IC50 value of 1.95 mg/mL.

Abstract

TOGA diversification is to increase variety of herbal products for their quality, acceptance, and economic value. In Indonesia, TOGA, known as herbs or jamu, is not only used as traditional medicine, but also used as a health supplement to maintain body immunity. Therefore, the community service team strives to improve public health through TOGA diversification training. The targets are high school students who are members of the MPS Botany group of SMAN 1 Bangkalan. The aim of this program is to increase the health independence of targets through TOGA diversification training. The methods are divided into several steps including the preparation, implementation, namely training and workshop, and evaluation through pre- and post-tests and satisfaction surveys. The implemented diversification training has been able to improve the knowledge and skills of targets to produce TOGA made from turmeric into a variety of products including fresh drinks, instant powders, and contemporary drinks. Based on the results of data analysis, 77% of participants experienced an increase in knowledge based on an increase in post-test scores. Then, 68 and 58% of participants respectively assessed the benefits and sustainability of the program as very good. Thus, TOGA diversification training activities are recommended to be continued and developed. This program is expected to be able to improve the health independence of high school students in the future.

Abstract

Candida albicans is an opportunistic fungal pathogen that lives in 70% of the human body, such as the gastrointestinal, genital and urinary tracts. Activities in Kindergarten (TK) like eating and drinking sweets, tasting friends' food and drinks in one container can allow the transmission and growth of candida in the mouth area. The pathogenic C. albicans can grow at 39°C and form a biofilm. This research aimed to determine the effect of temperature on the growth of C. albicans and Prevalence of Candidiasis in Early Childhood at Muslimat Tanjung Bumi Kindergarten, Bangkalan. The research method uses a cross-sectional design. The sample was saliva and oral swabs. The number of samples used was 40 samples. Based on research results, C. albicans can grow at an incubation temperature of 39°C is 5 samples out of a total of 16 C. albicans samples and the prevalence rate of candidiasis is 31.25%. Aktivitas yang ada di Taman Kanak-Kanak (TK) seperti kebiasaan makan dan minum yang manis, mencicipi makanan dan minuman teman dalam satu wadah dapat memungkinkan terjadi penularan dan pertumbuhan candida pada daerah mulut. C. albicans patogen mampu tumbuh pada suhu 39°C dan membentuk biofilm. Tujuan penelitian ini mengetahui pengaruh suhu terhadap pertumbuhan C. albicans dan kejadian Kandidiasis pada Anak Usia Dini di TK Muslimat Tanjung Bumi, Bangkalan. Metode penelitian menggunakan desain cross sectional. Sumber sampel adalah saliva dan swab daerah mulut anak usia dini dengan rentang usia 4-5 tahun di TK Muslimat Tanjang Bumi Bangkalan. Jumlah sampel yang digunakan sebanyak 40 sampel. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian C. albicans yang dapat tumbuh pada suhu inkubasi 39°C adalah 5 sampel dari total 16 sampel C. albicans dan Angka prevalensi kandidiasis adalah 31,25%. Abstract

Pengabdian masyarakat merupakan bagian integral dari tridharma perguruan tinggi, di mana dosen berperan aktif dalam mendukung dan membangun masyarakat melalui berbagai kegiatan. Program Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) yang dilakukan di Bangkalan, Jawa Timur, bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan manajemen keuangan di kalangan generasi muda, khususnya pelajar. Kegiatan terdiri dari pelatihan dan penyuluhan yang menyasar sektor pertanian, peternakan, perdagangan dan UMKM. Selain itu, program ini diintegrasikan dengan konsep Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) untuk memberikan pengalaman langsung kepada mahasiswa sebagai fasilitator. Metode pelaksanaan PKM meliputi survei kebutuhan, pengembangan materi pelatihan, pelaksanaan pelatihan di SMA 1 Bangkalan, serta evaluasi dan pendampingan pasca-pelatihan. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui kuisioner, sesi tanya jawab, dan pemantauan berkelanjutan terhadap penerapan praktik manajemen keuangan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman dan keterampilan peserta dalam pengelolaan keuangan usaha desa. Topik pelatihan mencakup perencanaan dan penganggaran keuangan, pelaporan keuangan, analisis keuangan, pengendalian internal, transparansi dan akuntabilitas, serta strategi pendanaan dan pembiayaan. Metode pengajaran interaktif seperti kuliah, studi kasus, diskusi kelompok, dan latihan praktis digunakan untuk memperkuat pemahaman peserta. Tantangan yang dihadapi selama lokakarya termasuk literasi keuangan yang rendah dan keterbatasan waktu. Untuk mengatasi ini, fasilitator menggunakan bahasa sederhana dan memberikan dukungan tindak lanjut melalui sumber daya tambahan dan program mentoring. Program PKM mendukung indikator kinerja utama perguruan tinggi dalam pengabdian kepada masyarakat dan pembelajaran mahasiswa yang relevan dengan kebutuhan nyata di lapangan. Rekomendasi untuk penelitian lebih lanjut dan kolaborasi dengan pemangku kepentingan terkait diharapkan dapat meningkatkan keberlanjutan dan efektivitas pengelolaan keuangan usaha desa di masa mendatang.
