Abstract

Abstract

Endophytic fungi are microorganisms that reside within plant tissues and are known to produce secondary metabolites with antibacterial potential. This study aimed to evaluate the antibacterial activity of the fermented extract of the endophytic fungal isolate IFAZ-6, derived from the roots of Ziziphus mauritiana Lam. (bidara), against Streptococcus mutans. The isolate was fermented for 21 days and extracted using ethyl acetate. The extract was tested for antibacterial activity using Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) at concentrations ranging from 0.2% to 25.6%, Minimum Bactericidal Concentration (MBC) from 3.2% to 25.6%, and agar diffusion assay at concentrations of 8%, 12%, and 16%. Inhibition zone diameters were analyzed statistically using the Kruskal–Wallis test followed by the Mann–Whitney post hoc test to assess differences between concentration groups. The results showed an MIC value of 3.2% and an MBC of 6.4%. The agar diffusion assay revealed a maximum inhibition zone diameter of 9.86 mm at 16% concentration, with statistically significant differences between concentrations (p < 0.05). These findings suggest that the fermented extract of IFAZ-6 possesses antibacterial activity against S. mutans, although its efficacy remains lower than that of the positive control, chloramphenicol

Abstract

Cholesterol is a lipid compound needed by the body as an essential component of cell membranes, hormone synthesis, energy sources and other needs. The body needs lipids in moderate amounts, the average adult's cholesterol requirement is around 1100 mg of cholesterol/day. About 25-40% of cholesterol needs are obtained from food and the rest is obtained from synthesis by the body. High cholesterol levels can trigger atherosclerosis, hardening and narrowing of the arteries which can lead to various diseases such as ischemia, stroke, heart attack. By looking at the daily life of the people in Paddinding village, kec. Sanrobone, where the majority of farmers are farmers, allows the public to ignore information about health, so education is needed to improve public health status. This activity is carried out using lecture and discucussion methods that are focused on providing understanding to the public about cholesterol, what is the role of cholesterol in the body, sources of cholesterol, how to prevent and deal with cholesterol disorders. Community service activities carried out are one of the means to increase public knowledge about how to prevent and treat cholesterol disorders.

Abstract

Abstract

Drug management is a major factor in supporting the patient's recovery rate. Drug management can run well if supported by the ability of existing resources, both in pharmacies, health centers, and hospitals. Narcotics, psychotropic drugs and precursors can affect the nervous system and legally their circulation has been regulated in legislation. Based on the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number 3 of 2015, the management of narcotic drugs, psychotropic drugs and precursors consists of circulation, storage, destruction, and recording and reporting. This study aims to determine the drug management process at the Stella Maris Makassar Hospital Pharmacy. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach and data collection techniques through interviews and observations. The results of this study are in the process of circulation, destruction, and recording and reporting at the Stella Maris Makassar Hospital Pharmacy according to the guttman scale obtained a percentage of 100% with a very good scale. However, in the storage process there are still some discrepancies so that the percentage obtained is 85%. This has met the applicable regulatory standards in Indonesia and is in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia No. 3 of 2015.
