Abstract

This research is motivated by the low ability of students to write. This is caused by the lack of variety of learning models used by educators. The use of varied, creative and innovative learning models can make students more active and motivated during learning activities. One of the learning models that can be used is the self-directed learning model. The purpose of this research was to test the writer's ability to plan, implement, and assess learning to write poetry using the self-directed learning model, to test the ability of class X students at SMAN 9 Bandung in writing poetry, to test the effectiveness of the self-directed learning model in learning to write poetry , as well as to determine differences in writing ability between the experimental class using the self-directed learning model and the control class using the question and answer method. The research method used is a quantitative method with the type of quasi-experimental research using literature review, trial and error, observation, and test techniques. The data obtained were in the form of students' pretest and posttest from both the experimental class and the control class. The results of this study: 1) The author is able to plan, implement, and evaluate learning to write poetry using the self-directed learning model with an average planning score of 3.7 and an implementation value of 3.9. 2) The ability of students in writing poetry has increased with an average pretest score of 55.4 to a posttest with an average score of 82,9. 3) The self-directed learning model is effectively used in learning to write poetry. This is evidenced by the results of the Mann-Whitney test with sig. 0.000 <0.05 there is a significant difference between the experimental class and the control class. Based on the explanation above, the self-directed learning model is effectively used in learning to write poetry.

Abstract

The low ability of students to write persuasive texts is the background for this research. The lack of use of innovative learning models by educators is one of the causes of this. It is known that incorporating the model into the learning process helps to increase the motivation and interest of students. The purpose of this research is to improve students' ability to write persuasive texts according to the structure and rules of the language. In addition, this study also aims to describe the differences in students' ability to write persuasive texts between the experimental class using the inductive picture word model and the control class using the question and answer learning model and to test the effectiveness of the inductive picture word model in learning to write persuasive texts. The method used in this research is a quasi-experimental method with nonequivalent control group design. Data collection techniques using literature study techniques, trials, observations and tests. The data collected were the results of the pretest and posttest from the experimental class and the control class of class VIII students of SMPN 1 Nagreg. The results obtained based on the Wilcoxon test are the Asymp values. Sig. (2-tailed) shows 0.000 <0.05 meaning that the hypothesis that there is a difference in the ability to write persuasive texts between the experimental class using the inductive picture word model and the control class using question and answer learning is acceptable. The results of the mann whitney test are Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) shows 0.000 <0.05 meaning that the hypothesis that the inductive picture word model is effectively used in learning to write persuasive texts is acceptable.

Abstract

This research was conducted because of the low ability of students in writing, one of which is in producing explanatory texts by palying attention to the structure and linguistic rules. Factors that can cause this are the lack of students in imagining and the inffectiveness of the learning methods used by educators. One of the learning methods that can increase students imagination in writing explanatory texts is the nature learning method. This study used a quasi-experimental method with a pretest and final test design and a control group. The results showed that the ability of students increased in learning to produce explanatory texts by paying attention to the structure and linguistic rules. There was an increase in the average pretest score from 46,35 to 87,92 in the experimental class posttest. There is a significant difference between the learning outcomes the learning outcomes of students in the experimental and control class, with the average value of the experimental class posttest of 87,92 while in the control class it is 58,92.

Abstract

Learning literature in education is presented in an integrated manner with language learning. This has an impact on the imbalance in the presentation of the weight of the material being taught between language learning and literature learning. So that many students do not understand the teaching of Indonesian literature. The formulation of the problem to be discussed in this study is formulated as follows. (1) how are the extrinsic elements related to socio-culture contained in the drama text Panembahan Reso by W.S. Rendra? (2) can the drama text Panembahan Reso by W.S. Rendra be used as an alternative for selecting Indonesian language teaching materials in class XI according to the demands of the 2013 curriculum? Based on these problems, this study aims to describe (1) the extrinsic socio-cultural elements in drama texts; (2) the drama text Panembahan Reso by W.S.Rendra as an alternative to selecting Indonesian language teaching materials in class XI according to the demands of the 2013 curriculum. This research method uses a qualitative descriptive method. The research data is in the form of extrinsic socio-cultural elements in the drama text Panembahan Reso by W.S. Rendra. The primary data source in this study is the drama text Panembahan Reso by W.S. Rendra. Secondary data sources in the form of books, scientific journals, websites that support research.

Abstract

Model pembelajaran merupakan ujung tombak kegiatan pembelajaran. Pemilihan model yang tidak tepat kerap menimbulkan dampak pada penurunan hasil belajar peserta didik. Model problem based learning (PBL) dengan fokus pembelajaran yang berpusat pada pemecahan masalah oleh peserta didik membuat pembelajaran menjadi aktif dan atraktif. Tujuan dilaksanakannya penelitian ini untuk meninjau efektivitas model PBL dalam pembelajaran membandingkan nilai-nilai dan kebahasaan dalam cerita rakyat dan cerpen. Melalui pendekatan kuantitatif penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen dengan desain non-equivalent control group design. Penelitian ini menghasilkan peningkatan pada hasil belajar peserta didik kelas eksperimen yang menggunakan model PBL yang dibandingkan melalui prates dan pascates. Selain perbandingan sebelum dan sesudah, diketahui nilai kelas eksperimen lebih unggul dari kelas kontrol yang menggunakan model direct instruction. Dengan rata-rata nilai yang diraih oleh kelas eksperimen untuk prates sebesar 43,96 dan rata-rata nilai pascates sebesar 84,15. Sementara rat-rata nilai prates yang diperoleh kelas kontrol sebesar 32,62 dan rata-rata nilai pascates sebesar 66,38. Selanjutnya hasil uji statistik menunjukkan nilai signifikansi < 0.05 yang berarti bahwa problem based learning terbukti efektif untuk pembelajaran membandingkan nilai-nilai dan kebahasaan dalam cerita rakyat dan cerpen.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low ability of students to identify complications in short stories. The lack of variety of learning models used by educators is one of the causes. The selection of various learning models will greatly influence the process of learning activities so that they become active, creative and innovative in order to improve the quality of students. One learning model that is effectively used is Discovery Learning. In addition, the low ability to collaborate is also due to the lack of assignments given in groups by educators to students. The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of the Discovery Learning model used in increasing the ability to identify complications in short stories and to improve students' collaboration skills. In addition, this study aims to examine differences in the ability to identify complications in short stories and the ability to collaborate between the experimental class using the Discovery Learning model and the control class using the discussion method. The method used is a quasi-experimental method with nonequivalent control group design. The results obtained based on the Wilcoxon test are the Asymp values. Sig. (2-tailed) <.001 or 0.001 <0.05, it can be concluded that there is a difference between students' learning outcomes in identifying complications in short stories between the experimental class using the Discovery Learning model and the control class using the discussion method. The results obtained based on the Mann Whitney-U test are the Asymp values. Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.010 <0.05, meaning that the Discovery Learning model is effectively used in learning. The value of collaborating in the experimental class has an average (mean) of 3.61 and the control class has an average (mean) of 3.47, meaning Discovery Learning model that it is very effective in improving collaboration skills.

In addition, as a result of the lack of utilization of appropriate learning models, namely the low level of students' critical thinking skills. The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of the Discovery Learning model in learning to identify life values ​​in short story texts. This study also aims to examine the effectiveness of the Discovery Learning model in improving students' critical thinking skills. As well as examining differences in students' abilities in identifying life values ​​in short story texts and differences in students' critical thinking abilities in the experimental class using the Discovery Learning model and the control class using the discussion method. The method used in this research is a quasi-experimental method with nonequivalent control group design. The results of the research are based on the Wilcoxon test of the Asymp value. Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000 < 0.05. That is, it can be concluded that there are differences in the learning outcomes of students identifying life values ​​in short story texts between the experimental class using the Discovery Learning model and the control class using the discussion method. As for the results of the Mann-Whitney test, the Asymp value. Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000 < 0.05. That is, the Discovery Learning model is effectively used in learning to identify life values ​​in short story texts. Then the results of calculating the average value of students' critical thinking skills in the experimental class using the Discovery Learning model are 3.7 and in the control class using the discussion method namely 3.4. That is, it can be concluded that there are differences in students' critical thinking abilities. This shows that the Discovery Learning model is effective in improving students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the low ability of students in analyzing the elements of a short story builder focusing on the plot element of the short story. This is due to the lack of variety of educators in choosing teaching methods and model. The selection of varied teaching methods and model can increase motivation and interest in learning. The purpose of this study was to assess the author's ability to plan, implement, and assess learning using the discovery learning model; assess the ability of students using the discovery learning model; assess the effectiveness of the discovery learning model in learning to analyze the plot elements of short story text; and assess the difference in the ability of the experimental class using the discovery learning model with the control class that applied the discussion method. The research approach used is a pseudo-experimental quantitative approach. The research design was pretest-posttest control group design. The data obtained, namely the pretest and posttest results of the experimental and control classes at Pasundan 1 High School Class XI. The results of this study prove that:1) the author is able to plan, implement, and assess learning by obtaining an average of 4 on planning and 3.84 on implementation; 2) the ability of students increases on the pretest average of 48 to 98.50 on the posttest; 3) discovery learning is effectively used in learning to analyze the plot of short story texts, as evidenced by the results of the Mann-Whitney test showing asymp. sig. 0.002; and 4) there are differences in the ability of students in the experimental class and control class, as evidenced by the results of the Wilcoxon test showing asymp. sig. in the experimental and control classes is 0.003. Thus, the discovery learning model is effectively used in learning to analyze the plot elements of short story text.

Abstract

This research is motivated by a problem that often occurs in Indonesian language learning, namely the low critical thinking skills of students, which has an impact on learning outcomes. Having critical thinking skills is one of the learning skills that must be developed in the 21st century which must be achieved by students. Therefore, it is very important to encourage and develop students' critical thinking abilities during the learning process. One way is through learning using the Problem Based Learning model in learning to interpret the author's view of the novel text. The purpose of this research is to test the author's abilities, to test the abilities of class . The method used in the research is quantitative. The data sources in this research are students in class XII IPA 3 (discussion control model) and XII IPA 5 (problem based learning experimental model) at SMA Negeri 1 Cicalengka. Data collection was carried out by means of direct research with a series of learning activities (introductory, core and closing activities). The results of the research found that the critical thinking abilities of students in the experimental class obtained a score of 93.8 with an average value of 2.7. Meanwhile, the control class got a score of 90.7 with an average score of 2.6, meaning that the ability to think critically in learning to interpret the author's view of the novel text in class XII students at SMA Negeri 1 Cicalengka for the 2023/2024 academic year was proven to be effective.

Abstract

This study aims to describe: (1) the author's ability in planning, implementing, and disseminating learning of negotiation text analysis using digital comics in Class X of SMA Pasundan 1 Bandung; (2) the condition of learning analysis of negotiation text in Class X of SMA Pasundan 1 Bandung before using digital comics; (3) the condition of learning after using digital comics as a learning medium; (4) the difference in the ability to write explanatory text between the experimental and control classes after using digital comics. The approach used was quantitative with a pure experimental method and a pretest-posttest control group design. The results of the study showed: (1) the author succeeded in planning, implementing, and starting learning with a score of 3.9 in planning and implementation, both in the very good category; (2) the pretest score of students in the experimental class before using digital comics was still below the minimum completion criteria, with an average of 20; (3) after using digital comics, the posttest score of the experimental class reached an average of 77 and met the minimum completion criteria; (4) The experimental class showed higher scores than the control class, as proven by the results of the pretest-posttest and independent sample t-test (Sig. value = 0.001 < 0.05).
