Abstract

The population of Parepare City, South Sulawesi, has increased yearly. It causes a high need for housing. Unsurprisingly, land that is strategic for agriculture is then used as housing. The economic level of society also influences the conversion of agricultural land. People who cannot meet their daily needs through sales of agricultural activities, which are generally low, try to find other forms of business that can improve their welfare. This research aims to determine the pattern of changes in farmers' livelihoods due to the conversion of agricultural land. This research uses a quantitative descriptive approach. The samples taken were 52 farmers who had sold their agricultural land. Then, the next stage of analysis uses the Wilcoxon test analysis. The research results show that 26.92% of farmers whose land has been converted still work in the agricultural sector, 65.39% in the non-agricultural sector, and 7.69% do not. The conversion of agricultural land to non-agricultural land was expected to improve farmers' economic conditions. However, these conditions are not what is happening in society. The research results show no real influence between the farmers' income before and after the land is converted.

Abstract

Uncontrolled conversion of agricultural land remains a serious problem in agricultural development, not only in urban areas but also in rural areas. The conversion of agricultural land often impacts the socio-economic life of farmers, especially income. One form of agricultural land conversion currently widely practiced is converting agricultural land into tourist sites. This research aims to determine the impact of the existence of the Civil Camp Karangan tourist attraction on the income of farmers who change land functions. The method used in this research is quantitative descriptive analysis. The Paired sample T-test analysis was used to determine the difference in farmers' income before and after the conversion of agricultural land. The results showed a calculated T value of 7,000> 2.57 T table value. It showed a difference in farmers' income before and after converting agricultural land into a tourist attraction. Thus, efforts are needed to improve the quality of the Civil Camp Karangan tourist attraction so that it still has economic benefits for the community around the location, especially farmers.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the characteristics of slow-release fertilizer based on corncob biochar which is enriched with various nutrient sources (NPK, SP36, cow urine and Azotobacter). Research methods include making biochar through pyrolysis and nutrient impregnation. Fertilizer characterization includes analysis of nutrients, material fractions, biochar stability, and functional groups using spectra (FTIR). The results of the four analyzes carried out showed that the SRFbiochar+SP36+cow urine formulation provided the best results in retaining nutrients and water.  The nutrient content produced by SRFbiochar+SP36+cow urine, namely N(0.35%) P (0.63%), K (0.7%), Corganic (6.49%), volatile content (15%) strengthened by the ultimate results which show high nutrient content (C=10.09%, N=0.35%), which is explained by the formation of hydroxy functional groups (O-H) in tire 3444.87 and carboxy groups on the band 1635.64. These results indicate that the SRF-BiocharSP36+bovine urine formulation has the potential to be developed as a slow-release fertilizer to increase fertilization efficiency in dry land for sustainable soil fertility improvement.
