Abstract

Environmental-based education at this time has a very important meaning in building students' character, with social studies learning resources that can be used as a medium to internalize the traditional values that exist in the student environment. An educator must also better understand and master the tradition. This study aims to build student character and expand environmental-based social studies learning resources by introducing the values of the rebo wekasan tradition in the learner's environment. This research method is qualitative with interview data collection techniques on community leaders in Singajaya District. The results of this study are the values contained in the rebo wekasan tradition, namely (1) religious values, attitudes closer to God, and tolerant of people with different beliefs; (2) the value of sharing or social care, in the rebo wekasan tradition, the community is required to pray or share with fellow humans even though people have different beliefs; (3) cultural values, the Rebo Wekasan tradition has culture and traditions that are believed by Muslims who carry out various traditions such as drinking isim water, eating dupi (ketupat wrapped in bamboo leaves); and (4) historical value, in the implementation of the rebo wekasan tradition, historical values are always instilled in the congregation to provide positive values from various historical deviations in the rebo wekasan situation.

Abstract

This community service aims to provide understanding and skills for the people in Neglasari-Garut Village in cultivating digital literacy and being wise in using social media. So it is hoped that through the promotion of digital literacy, the increasingly rapid use of information technology can be handled appropriately and intelligently by the community. This service activity consists of two forms, namely socialization and training. In the first stage, namely socialization, the team presented material related to the importance of digital literacy. Then proceed with training regarding the appropriate and wise use of social media. This activity was attended by around 200 people consisting of various elements, such as village officials, community leaders, teachers and students, as well as other members of the general public. The research results showed that community service went well and smoothly, participants took part in the activity very enthusiastically and they stated that this activity was very useful in opening their minds about the importance of digital literacy and being wise in using social media.

Abstract

Abstract The aim of this study is to enhance the historical and cultural awareness of students in the Social Studies Education program by creatively incorporating local wisdom values through a cultural exhibition project. The research method used was descriptive qualitative, which involved observation, interviews, and documentation of Social Studies Education students at IPI Garut. The findings of this study suggest that implementing social studies learning through cultural exhibition projects has enabled students to gain a more concrete understanding and knowledge, resulting in a more meaningful learning experience. This significance was evident in the students' increased awareness of the significance of understanding the history and culture of diverse ethnic groups in Indonesia, as well as the local wisdom values that contribute to the nation's prosperity and diversity. Furthermore, the process of creating various works for the cultural exhibition project has enabled students to develop new abilities and has inspired them to create more creative social studies learning media. It is hoped that these skills will be beneficial when the students enter the education field, both during their teaching practice and in their future careers as educators. Abstract

Kampung Adat Cireundeu, yang terletak di Kabupaten Cimahi, Jawa Barat, dikenal dengan ketahanan pangannya yang berbasis pada kearifan lokal. Salah satu ciri khas masyarakat Cireundeu adalah penggunaan singkong sebagai makanan pokok pengganti beras, yang telah menjadi bagian integral dari kehidupan sehari-hari mereka selama beberapa generasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji bagaimana praktik ketahanan pangan berbasis kearifan lokal tersebut mampu mendukung keberlanjutan hidup masyarakat, serta menjelaskan strategi-strategi yang digunakan untuk menjaga ketahanan pangan di tengah tantangan modernisasi dan perubahan lingkungan. Melalui pendekatan kualitatif, data diperoleh dari wawancara mendalam dengan para tokoh adat, observasi partisipatif, serta studi literatur terkait. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat Cireundeu tidak hanya mempertahankan pola konsumsi singkong sebagai bahan pangan utama, tetapi juga mengembangkan berbagai produk turunan singkong yang bernilai ekonomi. Selain itu, nilai-nilai kearifan lokal, seperti gotong-royong dan konservasi lingkungan, berperan penting dalam menjaga ekosistem lokal yang mendukung produksi pangan. Studi ini juga menyoroti peran tradisi dan kepercayaan adat dalam memperkuat ketahanan pangan masyarakat Cireundeu, serta bagaimana mereka mampu beradaptasi dengan perkembangan zaman tanpa meninggalkan identitas budaya. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa kearifan lokal di Kampung Adat Cireundeu memberikan kontribusi signifikan terhadap ketahanan pangan yang berkelanjutan dan dapat menjadi model bagi komunitas lainnya. The Cireundeu Traditional Village, located in Cimahi Regency, West Java, is renowned for its food security based on local wisdom. One unique characteristic of the Cireundeu community is the use of cassava as a staple food replacing rice, which has become an integral part of their daily life for generations. This research aims to examine how local wisdom-based food security practices support the community's sustainability and explain the strategies used to maintain food security amid modernization and environmental changes. Through a qualitative approach, data were collected from in-depth interviews with traditional leaders, participatory observations, and related literature studies. The research findings show that the Cireundeu community not only maintains a consumption pattern centered on cassava as the primary food source but also develops various cassava-based derivative products with economic value. Additionally, local values such as mutual cooperation and environmental conservation play a crucial role in preserving the local ecosystem that supports food production. This study also highlights the role of tradition and traditional beliefs in strengthening food security in Cireundeu and how they adapt to modern developments without abandoning cultural identity. The research concludes that local wisdom in the Cireundeu Traditional Village significantly contributes to sustainable food security and can serve as a model for other communities.

Abstract

Various sectors of life are currently being carried away by the current era of digitalization. Currently, literacy is not only limited to the ability to read and write but is developing towards digital literacy which is an important skill for every individual, including the younger generation and educators in the education sector. This service activity aims to discover strategies for integrating the digital world with education, the main components of integrating digital media with education, and the challenges in integrating digital media with the world of education. This service activity is conducted using an online seminar method for the community. Based on the results of the activities, information was obtained that: 1) implementation of digital media integration strategies with the world of education using appropriate methods and approaches from all parties such as educational institutions, the government, and the students' parents; 2) the main components in integrating digital media with the world of education must be considered and well prepared, starting from technological infrastructure, learning resources and platforms, teacher competency development, curriculum integration, and hybrid learning approaches; and 3) challenges such as unequal access equality, security and privacy in the use of technology, adaptation and resilience in the integration of digital media with the world of education are things that must be faced together so that these challenges will become motivation for all parties to achieve one final goal, namely generation young people and educators who are literate about the digital world in the education sector. Abstract

The role of the teacher in applying the skill of asking questions during learning. The teacher is an important component in the teaching and learning process. Teachers have a role to form human resources who are professional and responsible for the education of their students, but many students are embarrassed to ask questions. Therefore, to overcome these problems, the Role of the Social Sciences Teacher is needed in Growing Questioning Skills. The goal to be achieved from this research is to find out the role of the social studies teacher in cultivating questioning skills, student responses to the social studies teacher's role in cultivating questioning skills and the constraints experienced. The method used in this research is a qualitative method using a descriptive study approach. Data collection techniques in this study used observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique consists of three stages, namely (1) data reduction, (2) data presentation, and (3) drawing conclusions. The results of the study showed that the teacher's role in cultivating questioning skills in Class VII social studies learning at SMPN 2 Tarogong Kidul Garut was quite good, students also performed well regarding the importance of the teacher's role. Students who ask questions will be given answers by the teacher and appreciation in the form of additional points that encourage other students to be active in class. The obstacle faced by the teacher is that there are still students who do not understand the material but are embarrassed to ask questions.

Abstract

The use of learning resources at this time does not only depend on books, especially for social studies lessons which of course the study of the material is closely related to social issues. Global economic competition is certainly a challenge for social studies educators to be able to equip their students to have the ability to collaborate so as to create a competent golden generation, one of the movements in the field of education is by making meaningful learning through the use of contextual learning resources. The purpose of this study is for students to have social skills and to develop scientific treasures related to components in the bird cage handicraft business by making it a social studies learning resource. This study uses a qualitative approach with a qualitative descriptive method using observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the study can be summarized into three main points: 1) The transition of the bird cage handicraft business. The community of Ciloa, Mekarsari Village, Selaawi District, which is increasing, provides an overview of economic activities and entrepreneurship so that it can be used as a source of social studies learning at SMP Negeri 1 Selaawi. 2) The existence of bird cage craftsmen provides many benefits to various groups, especially in the social and economic fields so that the existence of bird cage crafts needs to be maintained. 3) The support of social studies educators for implementing bird cage crafts at SMP Negeri 1 Selaawi gives strength to students to learn how the components of bird cage handicraft business are in the hope that students have the ability to maintain bird cages as one of their regional characters so that students have economic provisions in entrepreneurship.

Abstract

Problems in the world of education at the time of the outbreak of COVID-19, which can cause students to experience obstacles in learning. The use of learning media using technology is closer to its use by students because, currently, various activities are closely related to technology. Learning with technology can be conveyed through various media or multimedia. The research approach uses quantitative research methods, such as the quasi-experimental design, and the research design uses a nonequivalent control group design. Then the purposeful or judgmental sampling technique. Research data collection techniques using tests identified through pretests and posttests and non-tests through observation, interviews, and documentation studies Data validation analysis techniques use validity tests, normality tests, homogeneity tests, hypothesis tests, and normalized gain tests. The results of the study showed that (1) there was no significant difference in pre-test results between the experimental class and the control class before learning began. (2) There is a significant difference in pre-test results between the experimental class and the control class before learning begins. (3) There is an increase in students' learning motivation when PowerPoint learning media is applied. The conclusion is that the learning PowerPoint medium plays a role in supporting students' learning motivation.

Abstract

This research aims to develop and analyze the effectiveness of learning videos that integrate local wisdom content, based on the YouTube platform as a geographic learning resource. In the current digital era, YouTube has become one of the most popular learning media among students, making it easy to access and interesting to watch. Indonesia's rich culture and local wisdom, as well as the integration of local content in geography learning, can enrich students' understanding of the local environment and culture. This research method uses a research and development (R&D) approach which begins with the process of making videos, validation tests by material and media experts, as well as trials on students as research subjects. The research results show that the learning videos developed not only increase students' interest in learning but also deepen their understanding of local wisdom-based geography material. Students responded positively to the use of this video, showing that integrating local wisdom in learning material can increase the relevance of the material to students' daily lives. YouTube-based learning videos have also proven to be an effective medium for delivering material interestingly and interactively. Thus, local wisdom-based learning videos on YouTube have great potential as an innovative and relevant learning resource in the context of geography learning in the current digital era.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui efektivitas media pembelajaran Powtoon dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar IPS. Penelitian menggunakan metode quasi eksperiment dengan desain penelitian nonequivalent control design. Populasi adalah peserta didik kelas VIII SMP Garut, dengan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling dengan menggunakan satu kelas eksperimen dan satu kelas kontrol. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes yang diidentifikasi melalui pretest dan posttest dan non tes melalui observasi, wawaancara dan studi dokumentasi. Berdasarkan hasil analisis statistik diperoleh hasil bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang cukup signifikan dengan menggunakan media pembelajaran Powtoonterhadap hasil belajar peserta didik dalam pembelajaran IPS. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan nilai Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) 0,000 dan α sebesar 0,05 menunjukan bahwa 0,000 < 0,05 maka Ho ditolak. The effectiveness of Powtoon learning media to improve social studies learning outcomesThe research objective was to determine the effectiveness of PowToon learning media in improving social studies learning outcomes. This research used a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control design. The population is students of class VIII SMP Garut, with a sample using purposive sampling using one experimental class and one control class. Data collection techniques used tests, identified through pretests, posttests, and non-tests through observation, interviews, and documentation studies. Based on the results of statistical analysis, it was found that there was a significant influence of using PowToon learning media on student learning outcomes in social studies learning. The Asymp value evidences this. Sig. (2-tailed) 0.000 and α of 0.05 indicate that 0.000 <0.05 then Ho is rejected.
