Abstract

The role of the teacher in applying the skill of asking questions during learning. The teacher is an important component in the teaching and learning process. Teachers have a role to form human resources who are professional and responsible for the education of their students, but many students are embarrassed to ask questions. Therefore, to overcome these problems, the Role of the Social Sciences Teacher is needed in Growing Questioning Skills. The goal to be achieved from this research is to find out the role of the social studies teacher in cultivating questioning skills, student responses to the social studies teacher's role in cultivating questioning skills and the constraints experienced. The method used in this research is a qualitative method using a descriptive study approach. Data collection techniques in this study used observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique consists of three stages, namely (1) data reduction, (2) data presentation, and (3) drawing conclusions. The results of the study showed that the teacher's role in cultivating questioning skills in Class VII social studies learning at SMPN 2 Tarogong Kidul Garut was quite good, students also performed well regarding the importance of the teacher's role. Students who ask questions will be given answers by the teacher and appreciation in the form of additional points that encourage other students to be active in class. The obstacle faced by the teacher is that there are still students who do not understand the material but are embarrassed to ask questions.

Abstract

The use of learning resources at this time does not only depend on books, especially for social studies lessons which of course the study of the material is closely related to social issues. Global economic competition is certainly a challenge for social studies educators to be able to equip their students to have the ability to collaborate so as to create a competent golden generation, one of the movements in the field of education is by making meaningful learning through the use of contextual learning resources. The purpose of this study is for students to have social skills and to develop scientific treasures related to components in the bird cage handicraft business by making it a social studies learning resource. This study uses a qualitative approach with a qualitative descriptive method using observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the study can be summarized into three main points: 1) The transition of the bird cage handicraft business. The community of Ciloa, Mekarsari Village, Selaawi District, which is increasing, provides an overview of economic activities and entrepreneurship so that it can be used as a source of social studies learning at SMP Negeri 1 Selaawi. 2) The existence of bird cage craftsmen provides many benefits to various groups, especially in the social and economic fields so that the existence of bird cage crafts needs to be maintained. 3) The support of social studies educators for implementing bird cage crafts at SMP Negeri 1 Selaawi gives strength to students to learn how the components of bird cage handicraft business are in the hope that students have the ability to maintain bird cages as one of their regional characters so that students have economic provisions in entrepreneurship.

Abstract

Problems in the world of education at the time of the outbreak of COVID-19, which can cause students to experience obstacles in learning. The use of learning media using technology is closer to its use by students because, currently, various activities are closely related to technology. Learning with technology can be conveyed through various media or multimedia. The research approach uses quantitative research methods, such as the quasi-experimental design, and the research design uses a nonequivalent control group design. Then the purposeful or judgmental sampling technique. Research data collection techniques using tests identified through pretests and posttests and non-tests through observation, interviews, and documentation studies Data validation analysis techniques use validity tests, normality tests, homogeneity tests, hypothesis tests, and normalized gain tests. The results of the study showed that (1) there was no significant difference in pre-test results between the experimental class and the control class before learning began. (2) There is a significant difference in pre-test results between the experimental class and the control class before learning begins. (3) There is an increase in students' learning motivation when PowerPoint learning media is applied. The conclusion is that the learning PowerPoint medium plays a role in supporting students' learning motivation.
