Abstract

Abstract

Tourism village development has emerged as one of Indonesia's regional economic growth strategies. Selotapak Village is one of the settlements that is utilizing Gartenhutte's natural tourism potential as its main appeal. Because the available facilities are currently limited, there is a need to increase the attractions that can attract tourists, one of which is the building of a one-of-a-kind swing. This attraction is ideal for the scenic scenery as well as the tourism environment. Certainly, the introduction of this new attraction will have a multiplier effect on tourism development and community well-being. The development of the "swing" attraction in Gartenhutte is planned to offer further economic value to the hamlet

Abstract

The study is keen to know the factors that motivate youth to read non-academic readings and the sort of readings. Subjects (N = 106) are government and private high school students in Surabaya, aged 15-19 years. Data were obtained through a questionnaire and analysed with factor analysis and cluster analysis. Results reveal eight factors (five internal and three external) that motivate youth to read non-academic readings. Subjects were then grouped according to the dominant factors, i.e. the information content, content expectation, topic, and benefit of the reading. The motivating factors, the dominant as well as the nondominant are discussed.

Abstract

The aim of this survey is to compare the adolescent criteria category which exists between mother and her daughter and between father and his son, where the daughters and sons were uni- versity students. Subjects (N = 175) were mother-daughter (n = 65) and father-son (n = 110) dyads. Data were collected through questionnaires, then described (analyzed) with frequency distribution and cluster analysis. Results show that the difference between mother-daughter duo lies in the biological transition and family capacity aspects, with minimal difference in role transition aspects. Results from the father-son duo reveal independence, interdependence, norm compliance, and role transition as very important adult criteria differences, whereas other criteria such as biological transition, family capacities, and chronological transition were assumed important. The results indicate that between father and son duo, which were in the same group have the same criteria.

Abstract

Community empowerment is a strategic effort to enhance the capacity and self-reliance of local groups, particularly women, in supporting development based on regional potential. This program aimed to empower the PKK group in Tanjungan Village, Mojokerto Regency, through the development of an innovative herbal tea product made from globe amaranth flowers (Gomphrena globosa), which are known for their functional health benefits. The activities included assistance in the cultivation, harvesting, and post-harvest handling of globe amaranth flowers; training in herbal tea processing; and support in production and packaging aspects. The results showed that the PKK group members were able to process the flowers into a consumable herbal tea product with appealing presentation and promising market potential. Moreover, the training significantly improved participants’ knowledge regarding the health benefits of globe amaranth and herbal product processing techniques. Pre- and post-training evaluations revealed a 36% increase in participants' knowledge. This initiative also fostered entrepreneurial skills in herbal-based products, offering an alternative source of income for the community. It is expected that this innovation will not only improve local welfare but also support the sustainable development of local potential.

Abstract

Tanjungan Village in Mojokerto Regency has an ecotourism area consisting of a reservoir and a forest, which has not been optimally utilized. The local community also faces limitations in managing their health independently. This community empowerment program aims to enhance health self-sufficiency through the development of a family medicinal plants (TOGA) showcase at Tanjungan Ecotourism. The program involves guidance on designing the layout of the showcase, medicinal plant cultivation techniques, and the implementation of a sprinkler irrigation system to improve water use efficiency. The results indicate a 17% increase in the community’s knowledge and improved skills in planting and maintaining medicinal plants. Additionally, the use of sprinkler irrigation has reduced water consumption by up to 30%, significantly enhancing plant growth. In addition to providing health benefits, the presence of the TOGA showcase also has the potential to boost the village’s tourism appeal. Therefore, the sustainability of this program needs to be maintained through the optimization of medicinal plant utilization and further assistance in post-harvest processing.
