Abstract

The emergence of a sperm bank with its effects becomes the topics that are strictly discussed by religion and science, and there is no common ground. The religion with its text power as a justification forced of science. The conflict between the religion and science related to the sperm bank occurred since there are no clear boundaries among them. The existence of the sperm bank basically becomes a necessity for those with special needs, for instance to continue the descendant, under a certain condition, as the objective to keep human from extinction. The sperm bank as a form of representation of biotechnology advance should not be impacted with the religious values, because the sperm bank itself is not free from the values, then the religion and science is able to cooperate to bring people to the better life conception in which the knowledge is reinforced by the religious morality. The harmonious relations will be materialized if the science and religion is able to keep their egos not to overthrow; otherwise both of them have to be interrelated each other.Kemunculan bank sperma dengan berbagai efeknya menjadi diskursus yang secara ketat dibicarakan oleh agama dan sains, serta belum ada titik temu. Agama dengan kekuatan teks sebagai kekuatan justifikasi pada sains. Konflik antara agama dan sains terkait bank sperma terjadi karena tidak jelasnya batas-batas diantara keduanya. Keberadaan bank sperma pada dasarnya menjadi kebutuhan bagi mereka yang berkebutuhan khusus, misalnya untuk menyambung generasi, dengan catatan dalam kondisi tertentu, sebagaimana tujuannya untuk menjaga manusia dari kemusnahan. Keberadaan bank sperma sebagai bentuk representasi kemajuan bioteknologi tidak seharusnya dibenturkan dengan nilai-nilai agama, karena keberadaan bank sperma sendiri tidak bebas dari nilai, maka agama dan sains bisa bekerja sama untuk membawa manusia pada konsepsi kehidupan yang lebih baik dimana keberadaan pengetahuan dikuatkan dengan moralitas agama. Relasi yang harmonis ini akan bisa terwujud selama sains dan agama mampu menjaga ego masing-masing untuk tidak saling menjatuhkan, malah sebaliknya keduanya harus saling tegur sapa.

Abstract

Sistem teologi Islam, sebagaimana dalam al-Qur'an memandang bahwa segenap perbuatan manusia, baik dalam urusan pribadi maupun urusan kolektif, merupakan titah Allah, yang didalamnya memuat berbagai nilai, norma, dan besaran tema-tema moral-etik lainnya. Berbagai konsep dan pesan moral-etik dalam teologi Islam yang ada, diarahkan pada nilai-nilai substansial tentang ajaran dan norma-norma hidup, yang mana nilai-nilai tersebut mengedepankan visi kemanusiaan yang universal. Etika terapan menjadi salah satu alternatif yang dapat diterapkan dalam masyarakat agar mereka mampu dan tahu bagaimana seharusnya bersikap, bertindak, dan mengambil kebijakan yang menyangkut kepentingan umat untuk kehidupan bersama. Bangunan teologi Islam dalam hal ini menempatkan etika sebagai media untuk mengarahkan manusia agar berakhlak baik, bertindak-tanduk baik, terpuji, dan ramah baik terhadap manusia, lingkungan alam, dan terhadap Tuhan sang pencipta.

Abstract

AbstractThis research is about the material or sermons content in Surakarta mosques in which there is an indication of hate speech if it is viewed from the analysis discourse and its implications for the religious diversity of worshipers in each mosque. Is there an element of hate speech in sermons in several mosques in the city of Surakarta? what are the implications of the Friday sermon on the diversity of society? This research is a descriptive qualitative research, data collection is done by observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was performed with interactive analysis including: data reduction, data delivery; and drawing conclusions. Sermons are words that contain religious advice and information. Sermon material serves to strengthen the religious narrative of pilgrims. In general, the Friday sermon material does not contain indications of hate speech. The implication of Friday sermons on worshipers is to provide perspective and point of view so that it will affect the religious life of worshipers so they can be tolerant and respectful to groups outside of themselves.Keywords: Friday sermon, hate speech, religious diversityAbstrakPenelitian ini mengenai materi atau konten khutbah yang ada di masjid-masjid Surakarta didalamnya ada indikasi mengandung unsur ujaran kebencian jika dilihat dari diskursus analisis serta implikasinya terhadap keberagamaan jamaah di setiap masjid. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif, pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data dilakukan dengan interaktif analisis meliputi: reduksi data, penyampaian data; dan penarikan kesimpulan. Khutbah merupakan perkataan yang mengandung nasehat dan informasi keagamaan. Materi khutbah berfungsi untuk penguatan narasi keagamaan jamaah. Secara umum, materi khutbah Jumat yang ada tidak mengandung indikasi ujaran kebencian. Implikasi khutbah Jumat pada jamaah adalah memberikan perspektif dan cara pandang sehingga akan berpengaruh terhadap kehidupan beragama jamaah sehingga bisa bersikap toleran dan menghargai kepada kelompok di luar dirinya.Kata Kunci: Khutbah jumat, ujaran kebencian, keberagamaan

Abstract

Socio-cultural changes that occurred in the Samin community has changed gender relations and division of labor system Samin community. This paper aims to clarify the role of women in the past Samin and the role of women in the present Samin. In the past, the role of women Samin confined to household work, do not have public access, and restrictions on education. At present, women Samin has been engaged in productive and reproductive work, and has been active in social activities. Samin female gender relations shift occurs due to internal factors, namely a change of mind and improvement of the economy, as well as external factors namely the development of information technology and transportation in their lives. This shift in gender roles also occurred due to the role of several actors, such as village officials, religious leaders, and community agencies.

Abstract

The urban sufism movement namely Hubbun Nabi becomes an interesting phenomenon since it emerges in the midst of Islamic-militant religious movement which is symptomatic in Sukoharjo. Hubbun Nabi represents the unity of many denominations whose Islamic understandings are Ahlussunnah wal Jama’ah (Aswaja) of Nahdliyin in Sukoharjo. It carries a moderate religious style. This research portrayed the style of moderate religiosity which is developed by Majlis Dzikir and Sholawat Hubbun Nabi. It was a descriptive-qualitative research. The techniques of collecting data are direct observation on the activities of Majlis Dzikir and Sholawat Hubbun Nabi, in-depth interview to Kyai Abdulloh Faishol, and documentation. Data was analyzed by reducing and displaying data, then drawing conclusion. Data validation was processed through triangulation method and informant review. Sukoharjo is one of the important cities for it has long been the basis of radical and moderate movements. One of the local movements in Sukoharjo whose rapid development was Majlis Dzikir and Sholawat Hubbun Nabi. The core values carried out by Hubbun Nabi movement are moderatism and tolerance, open-mindness, respecting plurality, and anti-fanaticism. Hubbun Nabi has indeed a significant role in the process of de-radicalization of the religious movement through transforming the values into the wider community. Hubbun promotes moderate Islam, the theology of humanity as a form of the “smiling of Islam.”

Abstract

This research focuses on how the community in Karangwuni Village Karangmojo Tasikmadu, Karanganyar Regency expresses religious movements as an effort to build a moderate society. Majelis Dzikir and Shalawat Birrul Walidain in the village are very strategic public spaces to instill an inclusive Islamic character. Village communities are synonymous with harmonious behavior and mutual help, and from a diversity perspective, they tend to be open or moderate. This study uses the sociology of religion approach with qualitative methods. This study found that makes taklim in the village became a medium for spiritual empowerment as well as a space for culture. Besides that, the Birrul Walidain taklim assembly is also a public space that displays moderate Islam in the countryside. This study offers the need for a moderate socio-religious movement carried out massively throughout the villages in the archipelago to build a tolerant Islam by prioritizing the principles of tawassuth, tawazun, and tasamuh, to create a peaceful and harmonious society. The existence of an inclusive taklim assembly can be a social capital in building a moderate society.

Abstract

Purpose - Islam and Javanese culture can dialogue in harmony, the two are not contradictory. One form of acculturation of the two can be seen from the traditions of rural communities as a form of rural Sufism, namely praising the prophet Mohammad. The people of Bangunrejo Kidul Village still maintain the tradition of praising the prophet as a medium of Islamic symbols. This article looks at how praising the prophet is a form of acculturation between Islam and Javanese culture, the media for da’wa, and the religious expression of rural communities.Method - This research is qualitative descriptive, data collection is done through involved observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation.Result - Praising the prophet is a form of acculturation of Islamic and Javanese culture as seen from the reading of shalawat, dhikr, and prayer accompanied by poetry in Javanese songs while waiting for congregational prayers in the mosque between the call to prayer (adzan) and iqamat. Moral praise is a medium of da’wa aimed at shaping the personality of the community in accordance with Islamic values and upholding the identity of Javanese culture. The value of da’wa in praising the prophet is in the form of perspectives and norms related to aqidah, morals, worship, sharia, and other moral appeals extracted from the Quran and hadith. Praising the prophet is rural Sufism as well as a model for seeking rural spirituality, namely Sufism in low traditions or village traditions as opposed to cosmopolitan traditions. The existence of praising the prophet in society has a dual function, apart from being a religious expression, it is also a safeguard for the existing religious traditions. Praising the prophet becomes a religious education for a cultural inheritance to the next generation as well as for increasing the spirituality and piety of the community. The tradition of praising the prophet is widespread in NU, especially in rural communities, and has become a religious expression to strengthen Nusantara Islam.Implication - The contribution of this article is to strengthen the perspective of the sociology of da’wa in seeing the problem of da’wa in the community, one of which is with local wisdom so that Islam can be accepted.Originality - This study examines sholawat as an acculturation of Islam and culture, media of da'wah, and religious expression of the cultural Islamic community, where the religious behavior of the people of Bangurejo Kidul Village in the context of the sociology of religion where religion is understood as action (religion in action).***Tujuan - Islam dan budaya Jawa dapat berdialog secara harmonis, keduanya tidak bertentangan. Salah satu bentuk akulturasi keduanya dapat dilihat dari tradisi masyarakat pedesaan sebagai bentuk tasawuf pedesaan, yaitu pujian. Masyarakat Desa Bangunrejo Kidul masih mempertahankan tradisi puji-pujian sebagai media syiar Islam. Artikel ini melihat bagaimana pujian merupakan bentuk akulturasi antara Islam dan budaya Jawa, media dakwah, dan ekspresi keagamaan masyarakat pedesaan.Metode - Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif kualitatif, pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi.Hasil - Pujian merupakan bentuk akulturasi budaya Islam dan budaya Jawa yang terlihat dari pembacaan shalawat, dzikir, dan doa disertai syair dalam bahasa Jawa yang dilantunkan sambil menunggu salat berjamaah di masjid antara adzan dan iqamat. Pujian moral merupakan media dakwah yang bertujuan untuk membentuk kepribadian masyarakat yang sesuai dengan nilai-nilai Islam dan menjunjung tinggi jati diri budaya Jawa. Nilai dakwah dalam pujian berupa cara pandang dan norma yang berkaitan dengan akidah, akhlak, ibadah, syariah, dan himbauan moral lainnya yang bersumber dari Al-Qur'an dan hadits. Pujian adalah tasawuf pedesaan sekaligus model untuk mencari spiritualitas pedesaan, yaitu tasawuf dalam tradisi rendah atau tradisi desa yang bertentangan dengan tradisi kosmopolitan. Eksistensi pujian dalam masyarakat memiliki fungsi ganda, selain sebagai ekspresi keagamaan, juga sebagai pelindung tradisi keagamaan yang ada. Pujian menjadi pendidikan agama untuk pewarisan budaya kepada generasi penerus serta untuk meningkatkan kerohanian dan ketakwaan masyarakat. Tradisi puji-pujian tersebar luas di NU, terutama di masyarakat pedesaan dan telah menjadi ekspresi keagamaan untuk memperkuat Islam Nusantara.Implikasi - Kontribusi artikel ini untuk memperkuat perspektif sosiologi dakwah dalam melihat permasalahan dakwah di masyarakat, salah satunya dengan kearifan lokal agar Islam dapat diterima.Orisinalitas - Kajian ini mengkaji sholawat sebagai akulturasi Islam dan budaya, media dakwah, dan ekspresi keagamaan masyarakat Islam kultural, dimana perilaku keagamaan masyarakat Desa Bangurejo Kidul dalam konteks sosiologi agama dimana agama berada. dipahami sebagai tindakan (religion in action).
