Abstract

Abstract

The growing demand for organic fertilizer calls for innovations in manure processing technology to enhance production efficiency and product quality. This study presents the design, fabrication, and performance evaluation of a prototype manure shredder–pulverizer that integrates dual shredding and pulverizing functions to accelerate the composting process and produce uniform particle sizes. The machine is powered by a 6.5 HP gasoline engine and tested using fresh goat manure with an average moisture content of approximately 70%. Performance evaluation focused on processing capacity, particle size distribution, specific energy consumption, and output homogeneity. The prototype achieved an average processing capacity of 96.4 kg/h, with more than 82.5% of the processed material passing through a 4 mm sieve and a dominant fraction of 2–4 mm (54.0%), which is ideal for composting. The specific energy consumption averaged 0.050 kWh/kg, lower than reported values for comparable small-scale biomass shredders. The homogeneity index consistently rated as Good, indicating stable particle size distribution across repeated trials. These findings demonstrate that the developed prototype provides a practical, energy-efficient, and low-cost solution for small-scale organic fertilizer production, supporting sustainable agricultural practices and reducing reliance on chemical fertilizers.

Abstract

Accurate identification of red blood cell (RBC) morphological abnormalities is essential for anemia screening and hematological assessment; however, manual microscopic examination remains time-consuming, subjective, and highly dependent on expert availability. While recent deep learning studies have demonstrated promising accuracy in RBC classification, many focus primarily on model performance without addressing practical deployment constraints or system-level integration for routine laboratory use. In this study, a web-based prototype system for automated RBC abnormality classification is proposed using a lightweight MobileNetV2 architecture. The dataset consisted of 1,320 microscopic blood smear images collected from Klinik & Laboratorium Parahita in Jember and Surabaya, covering six RBC categories with balanced class distribution. All images were anonymized and verified by a certified clinical pathologist prior to use. The model was trained using transfer learning and evaluated on a held-out test set to assess generalization performance. The proposed model achieved a test accuracy of 89.77%, with consistent precision, recall, and F1-score across classes, indicating reliable multi-class classification performance. Analysis of misclassified samples revealed uncertainty primarily between morphologically similar RBC types, reflected by lower confidence scores. These results demonstrate that lightweight deep learning models can provide effective and efficient support for RBC morphology analysis when integrated into an accessible web-based system. The proposed approach contributes a deployment-oriented diagnostic support tool that has the potential to assist laboratory professionals by improving screening efficiency and consistency while preserving clinical oversight.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a crucial role in boosting Indonesia’s GDP, contributing 61.97%. In addition to generating employment, MSMEs promote economic equity and support national growth. Mojokerto Regency, with 474,346 MSME units contributing IDR 63.498 trillion to the GDP, demonstrates significant potential. However, many MSMEs in this region struggle with low competitiveness. This community engagement program focuses on empowering MSMEs in the food processing sector, particularly the production of kerupuk rambak (fried cowhide crackers) at UD. IKABA. Key challenges identified include limited technology, such as using a modified washing machine to remove excess oil, as well as conventional marketing methods and unappealing packaging. The intervention involved introducing an automatic oil spinner and providing digital marketing training, including the development of a website application for online orders and promotion. The results show improved production efficiency, with processing time reduced by 25%, production capacity increased by 50%, and higher product quality in terms of hygiene and shelf life. Digital marketing also expanded the market reach from local to national levels, resulting in a 70% increase in sales. The implementation of production technology and digital marketing has proven effective in enhancing MSME competitiveness, contributing to both local and national economic growth.
