Abstract

The success rate of tuberculosis treatment in East Kalimantan Province is still below the national target. This study aims to analyze the effect of counseling training on the skills of cadres in providing information on tuberculosis treatment at the Dempar Health Center. The research design was a quasi experiment without a control group. The training intervention was tuberculosis treatment counseling, cadre skills were measured before and after the intervention. Samples were taken as a total population of 40 respondents. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon test to determine the difference in the average pre and post intervention scores. The results showed that there was an increase in the ability of cadres to provide TB treatment counseling after being given training, p-value = 0.000 (< α = 0.05). The author concludes the need for counseling training for cadres to be able to provide information on tuberculosis treatment.

Abstract

Gouty arthritis is a common disease throughout the world and its prevalence has increased in the last 50 years. Based on the fourth quarter report at the Pasundan Community Health Center, there were 113 cases of gout arthritis. Diet is a factor that causes an increase in uric acid in the blood. So it is important to provide education with booklets to regulate diet management for gouty arthritis. This study aims to determine the effect of low-purine diet education with booklets on knowledge and purine intake in gouty arthritis sufferers. Pre-Experimental Research Design via One Group Pretest-Posttest Design involving 26 gout arthritis sufferers in the Pasundan Community Health Center working area, sampling using a purposive sampling technique. Data were analyzed using the paired sample t-test. The results obtained increased knowledge (p-value = 0.000) and changes in purine intake (p-value = 0.000).

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the difference in urine glucose of Diabetes Mellitus patients with and without toluene preservative based on variations in temperature and storage time. Methods This research is descriptive comparative with the purposive sampling technique which was carried out on 34 urine samples of outpatient Diabetes Mellitus patients at the Inche Abdoel Moeis Samarinda Hospital which were analyzed at the Clinical Chemistry Laboratory of the Poltekkes Kaltim using the strip method on a urine analyzer with the Mann Whitney statistical test. Univariately, urine glucose levels 2+ were immediately found in 13 (38%) and 3+ in 21 (62%) samples, urine glucose levels 2+ delayed with toluene preservative stored at room temperature for 4 hours and 8 hours, respectively, obtained 15 (44%) and 18(53%) samples, as well 19(56%) and 16(47%) samples with a grade of 3+. Toluene stored at room temperature (25°C) and refrigeration in the refrigerator (4°C) without preservatives can be an alternative as a preservative for urine glucose testing if the examination cannot be done immediately.
