Abstract

Pineapple contains an enzyme called bromelain which is can be used as antiseptic of mouth, antibacterial, antifungal, and disinfectant. Endophytic mold is a microbe that forms colonies in healthy tissues of living organisms, generally, endophytic microbes do not cause harmful symptoms in the tissue of their host. This study aims to isolate the endophytic shell origin of pineapple peel that has acted as an antibacterial. A total of 3 endophytic capsules, Ac-I, Ac-II and Ac-III were isolated from pineapple skin using PDA media. The three isolates were purified and microscopic examinations were performed. Antibacterial testing was performed by fermentation to produce supernatant, then tested using disc method (Kirby-Bauer method) with Staphylococcus aureus and Escerichia coli test bacteria. The 3 isolates obtained only 1 isolate Ac-III isolates that have activity as antibacterial, with the inhibition zone diameter in bacterium Staphylococcus aureus 7.65 mm while in the bacterium Escerichia coli 6,9 mm.

Abstract

Abstract Indonesia has wide cultivation of purple sweet potatoes (Ipomea batatas L.) commodities, particularly in Jambi province. However, the difference of phytochemical profiles in purple sweet potatoes among geographical regions has not been fully explored. The objective of this research to find out antibacterial activity of ethanol extract leaves purple sweet potato against bacteria Salmonella sp. and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This study used Broth microdilution with concentration of 2 mg/mL, 4μg/mL, 8 mg/mL, 16 mg/mL, 32 mg/mL, 64 mg/mL, 128 mg/mL, 256 mg/mL, 512 ug/mL,1024 mg/mL. Chloramphenicol used as a positive control at the same concentration, minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) determination made by the 50 seen from the transmittance value the test bacteria and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) by the determination of the lowest concentration in which no visible bacterial growth. Based on the test microbroth dilution leaves purple sweet potatoes had antibacterial activity against Salmonella sp. and Pseudomonas aeruginosa with MIC 64 mg/mL in Salmonella sp. and 128 ug/mL Pseudomonas aeruginosa. KBM obtained 512 mg/mL in Salmonella sp. and 512 ug/mL Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Abstract

Bougainvillea purple flowers (bougenvillea spectabilis) is a plant that contains secondary metabolites one of them flavonoids. This study aims to identify the type of flavonoids in the purple bougenville blend n-butanol. The identification of the bougainvillea n-butanol fraction was performed by separation method using preparative TLC by using eluent nbutanol: acetic acid: water (4: 1: 5) in 3 stains with Rf 0.2, Rf 0.3, and Rf 0, 6 in a shear reagent at Rf 0.2 in flavonoid guessing using UV-Vis spectrophotometry, based on analysis using UV-Vis spectrophotometer has absorption at wavelength 372 band 1 and 276 band 2 then flavonoid flavonoids are expected. The results of this study showed that the fraction of purple bougainvillea flowers contain flavonoid flavonoids. Conclusion From this study Based on thin layer chromatography and UV-Vis spectrum analysis with shear compound reagents in bougainvillea flower is thought to contain flavonoid flavonoids. Keywords: purple bougainvillea; bougenvillea spectabilis; flavonoid; flavonol.
