Abstract

The mismatch between the principles of progressivism and educational practices in the field is a challenge in implementing the Independent Curriculum in Rote Ndao Regency. Schools often use an authoritarian approach, with minimal innovative learning media, so the learning atmosphere becomes more varied and dynamic. Teachers tend to be dominant as presenters of material rather than facilitators, which hinders experience-based learning. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method through observation, interviews, and document studies to explore the implementation of progressivism and the Independent Curriculum. The study results show that learning has been adjusted to the development of students, and teachers act as facilitators by motivating them. However, schools must still provide suggestion boxes and learning media according to student needs. For improvement, intensive training is necessary for teachers, and school policies must be strengthened to create a more inclusive and innovative learning environment.

Abstract

This research aims to formulate a philosophical synthesis between Essentialism and Reconstructionism and its relevance to the transformation of General Education and Christian Religious Education (CRE). On one hand, Essentialism emphasizes the preservation of core values and established cultural heritage. On the other hand, Reconstructionism encourages education as an instrument of social change towards a more just world order. Using a qualitative research method with a literature study approach, the results indicate that the synthesis of these two schools of thought creates an educational model that is "rooted yet impactful." In the context of CRE, this synthesis allows churches and Christian schools to remain steadfast in Biblical authority (essential aspect) while actively engaging in social-societal transformation (reconstruction aspect). This integration serves as a solution to the dichotomy between dogmatic teaching and the demand for social relevance in the contemporary era.

Abstract

Existentialism is a philosophical movement that emphasizes human freedom, choice, and responsibility for one’s existence. In the context of modern education, particularly Christian Religious Education (CRE), an existentialist approach is relevant for shaping students as conscious, reflective, and morally responsible individuals in faith. This article aims to analyze the basic concepts of existentialism, the thoughts of its major figures, and their implications for general education and Christian Religious Education. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method through library research. The findings indicate that existentialism contributes positively to the development of authentic faith and personal responsibility among students; however, its application must be critically filtered to remain consistent with Christian theology and biblical values.

Abstract

To become a Christian Religious Education (PAK) teacher candidate, they must have a strong understanding of theology and pedagogy, as well as the ability to help students find meaning in their personal contexts and lives. As a philosophy that emphasizes freedom, responsibility, and the search for meaning, existentialism can be a reflective approach to Christian education. In this article, we discuss how Christian Religious Education (PAK) teacher candidates can integrate the principles of existentialism with the values of Christian faith to help students answer fundamental questions about existence, purpose, and hope in life. PAK teachers are expected to be able to build a learning environment that encourages students to find the true meaning of life in the light of Christ by using approaches such as discussion, critical reflection, and faith experiences. This study emphasizes the importance of teachers helping people grow spiritually and existentially, so that Christian religious education is not only cognitive, but also transformational for students' lives.

Abstract

Christian Religious Education (PAK) plays an important role in shaping students' character and moral awareness. One philosophical stream that can serve as a foundation for Christian Religious Education (PAK) is idealism. Idealism emphasizes that true reality is ideas, mind, or spirit, not material objects. This article discusses the concept of idealism in Christian Religious Education (PAK), the implementation of idealism in Christian Religious Education (PAK), and the challenges faced in implementing idealism in Christian Religious Education (PAK). Research results show that idealism can serve as a strong foundation for PAK to shape students' character and moral awareness, as well as improve the quality of Christian religious education. However, the implementation of idealism in PAK must be carried out carefully and consider existing challenges, such as limited resources, teachers' skills, inappropriate curriculum, and diverse student needs.
