Abstract

Aims: Tuberculosis (TB) remains a critical global health issue, characterized by significant morbidity and mortality rates. Recent research highlights the potential of social support interventions to enhance TB treatment outcomes and improve patient quality of life. This study examines the positive effects of social support interventions on TB patients throughout their treatment process. Method: Utilizing a traditional review approach, this study applies thematic analysis to synthesize findings from the literature. The review encompasses 17 articles selected from reputable databases, including PubMed, Wiley Online Library, ProQuest, and Google Scholar, based on predefined inclusion criteria. These articles underwent quality assessment using the Critical Appraisal Skills Programme (CASP) tool. The PRISMA flowchart provided transparency in the selection process. Results: Key themes identified through the analysis include treatment adherence, psychological well-being, motivation to recover, health-related quality of life, prevention of TB transmission, successful TB treatment, and self-efficacy to recover. Conclusion: The findings suggest that social support interventions can play a crucial role in addressing the persistent challenges of TB management globally.

Abstract

Since the establishment of COVID-19 as a global pandemic, at the same time it has had an impact on many aspects including the health system. Various efforts have been made both at the global and national levels. Active participation from the community through the involvement of health cadres has an important role in handling a pandemic. This study aims to explore the involvement of health cadres as part of community members in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, especially in the community. This study used a descriptive phenomenological study with semi-structured in-depth interviews involving 13 health cadres in Makassar City who were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis with the Colaizzi data analysis method. The results of this study indicate that various roles have been carried out by health cadres during the COVID-19 pandemic. There are at least three (3) main themes generated in this study, namely, (1) providing education and health promotion for COVID-19; (2) implementing community-based surveillance (SBM) as a strategy for handling the COVID-19 pandemic; (3) helping maintain essential health services during the COVID-19 pandemic. The emergence of COVID-19 as a global pandemic has brought major changes to the order of people's lives in various aspects, including aspects of the health care system. Handling this pandemic is of course not only the responsibility of the government but also the shared responsibility of all levels of society. Health cadres as part of the community members have a vital role to help accelerate the handling and control of the pandemic.

Abstract

This study explores the concept of Lenggono and its implications in parenting to foster children's morality from the perspective of the Surakarta Palaces. Using a qualitative case study approach, this research involved officials from the Surakarta Palace who have deep appreciation for Javanese cultural values. Data collection was conducted through a series of three interviews over one month, ensuring participant confidentiality and informed consent. Thematic analysis was employed to identify patterns and themes from the data. The findings highlight the importance of instilling moral education from an early age, emphasizing values such as appreciation for the existence of God, logical straightness of thinking, wisdom, intellectual and emotional intelligence, sympathetic feelings, and non-violence. The Lenggono concept integrates these values, providing a holistic approach to moral education in children, rooted in Javanese traditions. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of cultural practices in moral upbringing and offers practical insights for parents and educators.

Abstract

The Indonesian Central Statistics Agency reports that 30.2 million children require adequate social, economic, and educational protection, yet toxic parenting systems often become the main obstacle. The high prevalence of child abuse indicates the need for positive and culturally-based parenting approaches. This study aims to explore and test the Sapa Sira Sapa Ingsun philosophy as a positive parenting approach to address toxic parenting. The first study involved in-depth interviews with figures from the Surakarta Palace, revealing parenting principles such as the balance between intellectual, spiritual, and emotional intelligence, and two-way communication. The second study confirmed these findings through the opinions of parenting experts. The third study, a psychodrama experiment with 34 parents, demonstrated that positive parenting based on the Sapa Sira Sapa Ingsun philosophy is effective in reducing toxic parenting. Paired samples t-test results showed a significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores, with t(33) = 9.84 and p < 0.001. The effect size calculated using Cohen's d was 1.69, indicating a very large effect of the intervention. This shows a statistically significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores, suggesting a meaningful change after the intervention. In conclusion, the Sapa Sira Sapa Ingsun philosophy can be widely applied as a positive parenting solution to overcome toxic parenting.

Abstract

ABSTRAK      Penggunaan gadget dan internet pada anak usia sekolah atau generasi Z saat ini menunjukkan angka yang tinggi. Tingginya penggunaan gadget dan media sosial mencerminkan transformasi signifikan dalam teknologi informasi dan komunikasi, mempengaruhi berbagai aspek kehidupan manusia, salah satunya pendidikan. Selain itu, Dalam lingkup pendidikan, kecerdasan buatan/ Artificial Intelligence (AI) telah digunakan oleh tenaga pendidik dan siswa untuk membantu proses pembelajaran. Namun muncul tantangan di era digital yang perlu diperhatikan, seperti cyberbullying dan penggunaan AI yang tidak bijak oleh siswa. Kegiatan edukasi literasi digital diperlukan bagi guru dan praktisi pendidikan yang mendampingi proses belajar siswa di sekolah. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan untuk membekali guru dan praktisi pendidikan dengan literasi digital, keterampilan digital, dan pemanfaatan AI dalam kegiatan sekolah. Edukasi dilakukan secara daring melalui platform Zoom pada tanggal 4 Mei 2024. Pemaparan berlangsung selama 2 jam 28 menit dan dibagi ke dalam dua sesi dengan dua materi dan narasumber yang berbeda. Sesi pertama membahas tentang pentingnya literasi digital bagi guru dalam konteks pendidikan. sesi kedua membahas tentang penggunaan artificial intelligent (AI) dalam dunia pendidikan. Kegiatan ini dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan peserta secara signifikan dalam hal literasi digital dan penggunaan AI di konteks pendidikan. Evaluasi 94% peserta merasa kegiatan ini bermanfaat bagi pekerjaan mereka. Kata Kunci: Literasi Digital, Kecerdasan Buatan, Peningkatan Kapasitas Guru  ABSTRACT The use of gadgets and the internet among school-age children or Generation Z currently shows high numbers. The high use of gadgets and social media reflects a significant transformation in information and communication technology, affecting various aspects of human life, one of which is education. Apart from that, in the scope of education, artificial intelligence (AI) has been used by educators and students to assist the learning process. However, challenges arise in the digital era that need to be taken into account, such as cyberbullying and the unwise use of AI by students. Digital literacy educational activities are needed for teachers and educational practitioners who accompany students' learning processes at school. This activity is carried out to equip teachers and education practitioners with digital literacy, digital skills, and the use of AI in school activities. Education was carried out boldly via the Zoom platform on May 4, 2024. The presentation lasted 2 hours 28 minutes and was divided into two sessions with two different materials and sources. The first session discussed the importance of digital literacy for teachers in the educational context. the second session discussed the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the world of education. This activity can significantly increase participants' knowledge in terms of digital literacy and the use of AI in educational contexts. Abstract

Introduction : The rate of cesarean deliveries in Indonesia continues to rise, particularly in major cities such as Surabaya, exceeding the 15% limit recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO). The low rate of Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC) and the limited autonomy of women in choosing their mode of delivery highlight the need for a new approach. Midwifery Led Care is considered effective in reducing medical interventions and promoting a safe, natural birth experience. Objective : The purpose of this service was to increase women's knowledge about preparing for childbirth by promoting natural birth. Method : This public service was conducted by lectures and an analysis of knowledge changes was conducted through pre-tests and post-tests. The evaluation was carried out by comparing the results of the pre-tests and post-tests. Result : This community service activity demonstrated an increase in pregnant women's knowledge regarding childbirth preparation. Of the 10 participants, all of whom were pregnant in their third trimester, the majority had a high school education (70%). Based on pre- and post-test results, the level of knowledge increased from 80% to 100% after the intervention of education classes and prenatal exercises. These results demonstrate that structured and participatory health education is effective in improving pregnant women's readiness for childbirth, particularly in the context of implementing the concepts of Midwifery-Led Care and natural birth.

Abstract

Permasalahan kesenjangan gender dalam pengelolaan bank sampah masih menjadi tantangan di Surabaya. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan sikap kader bank sampah perempuan terkait konsep gender dan pemberdayaan perempuan di kegiatan ekonomi komunitas. Metode kegiatan berupa pelatihan satu hari yang dilaksanakan dengan pendekatan ceramah interaktif, diskusi kelompok, serta penggunaan media digital untuk memfasilitasi partisipasi peserta. Sebanyak 58 kader perempuan bank sampah dari berbagai wilayah Surabaya mengikuti kegiatan ini. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dan sikap peserta terhadap peran gender yang diukur melalui pre-test dan post-test. Uji Wilcoxon signed-rank menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan pada pengetahuan (W = 14.5, p < 0.001) dan sikap (W = 315, p = 0.008). Peserta juga menyampaikan refleksi dan pengalaman mengenai tantangan peran gender dan kontribusi ekonomi keluarga. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan ini efektif dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan dan sikap kader bank sampah terhadap peran gender dan memberikan insight baru terkait peran pemberdayaan perempuan dalam perekonomian keluarga.

Abstract

The global shortage of healthcare professionals has intensified efforts to train more Community Health Workers (CHWs) to meet health and developmental needs. Amidst a global health crisis, such as the COVID-19 pandemic tragedy that occurred several years ago, CHWs have played a crucial role in controlling community-based outbreaks, thereby strengthening the public health emergency response while facing numerous challenges. This study explores the motivations and challenges CHWs face in managing health crises. Employing a descriptive phenomenological approach, this study conducted semi-structured in-depth interviews with 13 CHWs in Makassar City, selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis via the Colaizzi method. Thematic analysis revealed three main themes and seven sub-themes, encapsulating factors of social needs and expanded health perspectives as motivational elements alongside challenges such as the prevailing negative paradigm regarding the health crisis. CHWs are instrumental in spearheading community-based activities to manage health crises. CHW training programs, facilitated by community nurses, can significantly improve their performance and impact within the community.

Abstract

The problem faced by the farmers' wives group partners in Tebel Village, Bareng District, Jombang Regency, is a lack of knowledge in managing family finances, which can lead to increased financial pressure and psychological stress. This program aims to provide education on financial literacy, wise household financial management, and mental health literacy to improve partners' mental health. Participants are given socialization related to financial health education and mental health education. Apart from that, participants are also invited to practice directly preparing a household budget in a simple and easy-to-understand manner. Pre-tests and post-tests are also administered to evaluate the level of achievement of the service program. Additionally, a feedback questionnaire was provided to participants as a means of evaluating the implementation of activities and assessing the sustainability of the community service program. Based on the analysis of the pre-test and post-test results, participants have increased knowledge in managing financial health and mental health. By integrating knowledge about financial planning and mental health, this activity had a significant positive impact on the farmers' wives in Tebel Village, Bareng District, Jombang Regency.ABSTRAKPermasalahan yang dihadapi oleh mitra kelompok istri petani di Desa Tebel, Kecamatan Bareng, Kabupaten Jombang adalah minimnya pengetahuan dalam mengelola keuangan keluarga sehingga dapat meningkatkan tekanan finansial dan tekanan stess secara psikologis. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan edukasi mengenai literasi keuangan mengenai pengelolaan keuangan rumah tangga yang bijak dan literasi kesehatan mental untuk meningkatkan kesehatan jiwa mitra. Peserta diberikan sosialisai berkaitan dengan edukasi kesehatan finansial dan edukasi kesehatan mental. Selain itu, peserta juga diajak untuk praktek secara langsung menyusun anggaran rumah tangga dalam lingkup yang sederhana dan mudah dipahami. Pre-test dan post-test juga diberikan untuk mengevaluasi tingkat ketercapaian program pengabdian. Selain itu, kuisioner umpan balik juga diberikan kepada peserta sebagai bentuk evaluasi pelaksanaan kegiatan dan untuk keberlanjutan program pengabdian masyarakat. Berdasarkan analisis deri hasil pre-test dan post-test, peserta memiliki peningkatan pengetahuan dalam mengelola kesehatan keuangan dan kesehahatan mental.  Dengan mengintegrasikan pengetahuan tentang perencanaan keuangan dan kesehatan mental, kegiatan ini berhasil memberikan dampak positif yang signifikan bagi para istri petani di Desa Tebel, Kecamatan Bareng, Kabupaten Jombang.
