Abstract

One of the government’s efforts to control population growth is Family Planning program and one indicator of its performance is unmet need for contraception. Based on 2015 Inter-Census Population Survey Data, East Java is one of the provinces with high unmetneed events in Indonesia. Unmet need for contraceptive in East Java is 16.3 percent. This study examines factors that correlate with unmetneed in East Java. Chi-square test used to find correlation between independent variables and unmetneed. The data used is the 2015 Inter Census Population Survey Data - East Java Province. The results showed age, area of residence, work status, education, and number of children are related to unmetneed events. Interventions that should be undertaken are improving counseling, communication, information and education, fulfilling demand of contraception and making it easier to access family planning.

Abstract

Family Planning Programs in Indonesia is carried out by means of contraception which is an effort toprevent pregnancy. These efforts can be temporary, can also be permanent. But until now there has not beena 100% ideal method of contraception, because ideally a contraception is seen from the effectiveness, safe, cheap, aesthetic, easy to obtain, does not require continuous motivation, and minimal side effects. Acceptorsusing reversible contraception (aged 15-45 years) have a 1.8 chance of contraceptive failure. Within 1 yearof use, the reversible method fails as much as 1%. Achievement of cases of complications and contraceptivefailure in fertile age couples in East Java can be seen that cases have increased from early January 2019to the end of December 2019 with the achievement of 212 acceptors who experienced cases of failurefailure and 90 acceptors who experienced complications in the province of Java. East in 2019. The failureof contraception can be caused by various things, namely because of the method itself, termination of themethod by the acceptor, lack of discipline in using it or use errors. According to Lawrence Green, a person’shealth is influenced by two main factors namely behavioral factors and factors outside behavior. Consists ofPrediposing Factor in the form of knowledge attitude, Enabling Factor and Reinforcing Factor.

Abstract

Child mortality is very important to be considered by policymakers, especially for developing countries, likeIndonesia. Child mortality rates reflect the level of health development of a country and the quality of lifeof its people. The Government of Indonesia through the 2015-2019 National Medium-Term DevelopmentPlan (RPJMN) has set a target of achieving a reduction in infant mortality of 24 per 1000 births in 2019.Achievement targets that have been made, are intended to follow the major goals of the Sustainabledevelopment goals (SDGs) in health and welfare. The government has issued a policy to reduce childmortality through programs such as Healthy Indonesia with a family approach through Permenkes no.39 of2016. Based on data obtained by the Indonesian Central Statistics Agency (BPS), it was found that neonatalmortality, infant mortality, and infant mortality from 1991 to 2017 there was a decline which meant that therewas progress in efforts to reduce child mortality. The success of the Government of Indonesia in reducingchild mortality can not be separated from the use of expert theory well. the theories used as references arethose of Mosley and Chen, and Filmer who states that children’s survival is influenced by social, economic, and biomedical factors.

Abstract

Contraceptive devices and medicine have a very strategic value in supporting family planning operations. This study therefore aims to determine the trend of contraceptive need and usein Dayak societies, andanalyze the supply chain as well as the management of contraceptives required to fullfill this need. Theresearch design used a case study, and qualitative data were obtained from in-depth interviews supported bysecondary data. Meanwhile, quantitative data were collected through questionnaire survey, and data analysiswas performed using the triangulation method. Subsequently, the results of qualitative data analysis werecombined with the results of quantitative data analysis to acquire final conclusions. In Dayak societies, injections are the contraceptive form most required and used by people in the local community (30.21%).Furthermore, there is a significant correlation between need and use of contraceptives (Sig. = 0.000). Thedemand for contraceptives is based on the remaining stock at the health center, as well as the community’srequest. During the acceptance process, the quality, quantity, and type of contraceptives are checked, andcounseling is provided, especially for new acceptors. Meanwhile, the suitability of the contraceptive storageconditions at the health center was discovered to be 61.46%, compared to the standard. Currently, supportingmanagement isnot run optimally, especially in terms of formulatingan operating standard procedure, aswell as monitoring, evaluating, and implementing training. Thus, the availability of contraceptives at thesupplier and local community’s need for contraceptives are taken into consideration and as a strategy formanaging contraceptives in the Primary Health Care of Dayak societies, in order to ensure the availabilityof contraceptives at Puskesmas and fullfill the contraceptive needs of Dayak societies.

Abstract

Logistic regression or logit regression is a statistical technique used to create predictive modeling. To determine the logistic regression equation that will be used to predict the value of the dependent variable, parameter estimates must be sought in the logistic regression model, one of the methods in this study uses the maximum likelihood method. The 2017 Indonesian Demographic and Health Survey (IDHS) collected various information, including about toddler diarrhea. Therefore, the logistic regression method is the right method to use in this condition, considering that the diarrhea data collected in the IDHS are categorical data. In this study, the variables influencing toddler diarrhea werechild age, birth size (average),exclusive breastfeeding, maternal age, maternal education (high school), wealth index (top), and latrine facilities The results of the logistic regression analysis showed that the variable with the highest risk figure for reducing the diarrhea rate was wealth index (top) (OR=1,438).

Abstract

Abstract

Fertility is an important indicator for the success of state development, especially in the health sector. It can be estimated through direct and indirect methods. This study aimed to determine the fertility rate in East Java province indirectly using the Palmore Formula. This study was a descriptive analysis using secondary data from the 2015 Inter-census Population Survey / Survei Penduduk Antar Sensus (SUPAS). It calculated the rate directly and manually. The Total Fertility Rate (TFR) was at 2.02 per two children born by each mother in East Java province. It was compared with the national average published by the Central Bureau of Statistics within 5 periods of SP1990, SUPAS 1995, SP2000, SUPAS 2005, and SP2010. In each period, the rate was lower without any difference. The Palmore Formula is considered a good method for estimating fertility rates.
