Abstract

The parental consistency in parenting is very important, especially for toddlers or around the age of one to three years, because they need rules and limits for their autonomy or independence that they are pursuing in their developmental tasks. Therefore, co-parenting or the cooperation of fathers and mothers in Parenting children is needed, so that fathers and mothers have similarities in applying the rules and methods of Parenting, so that children can optimize their self-regulation and independence learning. This study aims to test the effectiveness of Better Together Training in improving co-parenting of fathers and mothers when caring for children aged one to three years. The method used in this study is Pre-Experimental One Group Pretest-Posttest Design, which involves one experimental group without a control group. The data in this study was collected in three different times, namely pre-test, post-test, and follow-up test using the Brief CoParenting Scale. Statistical analysis using ANOVA's Repeated Measures found that there was a significant increase in parents' co-parenting levels scores between different measurement times (i.e., pre-test, post-test, and follow-up test), F(2, 30) = 4.17, p <.025, ?2 p = .22. The evaluation of the implementation of this training also obtained positive results from the participants, which was considered very beneficial for them.

Abstract

Empathy is a key component in the social-emotional development of early childhood, which is influenced by communication patterns within the family. This study aims to analyze the influence of parental communication patterns on the empathy of children aged 3–6 years. The study used a quantitative approach with a correlational method on 69 pairs of parents. The data were analyzed using Pearson's correlation test and multiple linear regression. The results show that conversation-oriented communication patterns have a positive and significant relationship with children's empathy, both in mothers and fathers, while conformity-oriented patterns have a significantly negative relationship. Mothers' conversation orientation contributes most strongly to increasing children's empathy, while fathers' conformity orientation has a greater negative impact. These findings confirm the different roles of maternal and paternal communication in shaping early childhood empathy. Theoretically, this study reinforces the model of family communication patterns in the context of empathy development. Practically, the results provide an empirical basis for parents and early childhood educators to implement more dialogic communication strategies to foster empathy from an early age.

Abstract

In dealing with the changes posed by the industrial era 4.0, college students need to have career adaptability. One of the factors that influence the development of career adaptability is parental support. However, some previous studies have shown inconsistencies in the influence of parental support on career adaptability. The inconsistency of the results indicates that there is the involvement of internal factors, namely proactive personality. This study aims to examine the role of proactive personality in mediating the effect of parental support on a student’s career adaptability. Participants involved in this research were undergraduate students (N equals 551) from various universities in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi, who are in their 6th semester or more. The three research variables were measured using The Career Adapt-Ability Scale (CAAS), The Career-Related Parent Support (CRPSS), and the Proactive Personality Scale (PPS). Data processing was performed statistically using Pearson Correlation and PROCESS macros from Hayes. The results showed that parental support can influence career adaptability through proactive personality. Based on the limitations of this study, further research is suggested to consider the role of personality in parents, the characteristics of participants, and other factors that are likely to affect career adaptability.
