Abstract

Anemia during pregnancy is a significant public health issue that affects both maternal and fetal health, despite the implementation of the Iron Supplement Tablet (IST) program. One major challenge is the non-compliance of pregnant women in taking IST. This study aimed to analyze factors associated with non-compliance in IST consumption among pregnant women in the working area of the Popayato Timur Community Health Center. A quantitative observational analytical design with a cross-sectional approach was used, involving a sample of 40 pregnant women in their third trimester, selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and a review of maternal and child health records, covering respondent characteristics, knowledge levels, and IST consumption compliance. Results indicated that 55% of pregnant women were non-compliant in consuming IST. Multivariate analysis revealed that maternal knowledge was significantly associated with IST consumption compliance (p = 0.012; OR = 7.05). Pregnant women with good knowledge were more likely to comply compared to those with low knowledge. Age, parity, and occupation showed no statistically significant relationship. In conclusion, maternal knowledge was the most dominant factor influencing compliance with iron tablet consumption. Strengthening education and counseling during antenatal care is crucial for improving IST compliance and preventing anemia in pregnant women.

Abstract

Anemia during pregnancy is a major public health issue, especially in developing countries like Indonesia, contributing to maternal morbidity and adverse pregnancy outcomes. The second trimester, marked by increased iron needs due to plasma volume expansion and fetal growth, is critical for preventing anemia. Moringa leaves (Moringa oleifera), rich in micronutrients, may serve as an effective nutritional intervention to enhance hemoglobin levels in pregnant women. This study aimed to assess the impact of moringa leaf supplementation on hemoglobin levels in second-trimester pregnant women. Using a one-group pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design, the study was conducted at the Tadoy Community Health Center in Bolaang Mongondow Regency from October to November 2025, involving 25 pregnant women selected via purposive sampling. Hemoglobin levels were measured before and after the supplementation. Data analysis, including the Shapiro-Wilk test and Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, indicated significant changes in hemoglobin levels (p = 0.000). The results showed a notable increase in hemoglobin levels post-supplementation, supporting the potential of moringa leaves as a safe, affordable, and effective intervention. This finding suggests that moringa leaves could be integrated into antenatal care and nutrition education to help prevent anemia in pregnant women.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Teenage girls often experience menstrual cycle irregularities which are common conditions due to various factors, including psychological stress, unhealthy lifestyles, and hormonal imbalances in the body. Excessive stress can interfere with the production of reproductive hormones such as estrogen and progesterone, thus disrupting the menstrual cycle which should be regular. To overcome this, a non-pharmacological approach such as Hatha Yoga is one of the interventions that is easy to do and has been proven to help reduce stress levels, improve endocrine system function, and increase blood circulation which ultimately contributes to balancing hormones and regulating the menstrual cycle naturally. The results of a survey conducted in January 18, 2025 at SMP N 1 PURWODADI on 7th grade female adolescents found that there were students with irregular menstrual cycles. The type of quantitative research, with a pre-experimental research design with a pretest-posttest design approach. Abstract

The postpartum period is an important time for the mother's physiological recovery after childbirth, during which various bodily changes are still ongoing and health risks, including changes in blood pressure, may occur. One factor that is thought to affect blood pressure during the postpartum period is dietary patterns, particularly high sodium intake. Salted fish is a food commonly consumed by the community and is known to have a high salt content. This study aims to analyze the effect of salted fish consumption on blood pressure in postpartum mothers from day 1 to day 28. This study used a quantitative approach with an analytical observational design through a cross-sectional method. The study sample consisted of 20 postpartum mothers on days 1–28 who were selected using purposive sampling. The independent variable was salted fish consumption, while the dependent variable was the systolic blood pressure of postpartum mothers. Data were collected through interviews using a structured questionnaire and blood pressure measurements with a standard tensiometer. Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate methods. The Shapiro–Wilk normality test showed that the data were not normally distributed, so the analysis was continued with the Wilcoxon test. The results of the study show a significant difference between systolic blood pressure before and after exposure to salted fish consumption, indicating that consumption of foods high in salt affects changes in blood pressure in postpartum women. This study concludes that salted fish consumption has the potential to affect the blood pressure of postpartum women. Therefore, nutrition education related to limiting the intake of foods high in salt during the postpartum period needs to be improved as part of efforts to prevent postpartum hypertension.

Abstract

Infertility is a reproductive health issue that not only affects biological aspects, but also causes significant psychological burdens, particularly anxiety in women. In the context of Saudi Arabian culture, which has strong pronatalist values, infertile women often face social and emotional pressures that can exacerbate their psychological condition. Social support is seen as a protective factor that plays an important role in helping individuals adapt to the stress of infertility. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the level of social support and the level of anxiety in Saudi women facing infertility at the Dr. Sulaiman Al-Habib Takhassusi Branch, Riyadh. This study uses a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional analytical observational design. The research sample consisted of 30 infertile women selected using consecutive sampling techniques. The levels of social support and anxiety were measured using a standardized questionnaire, then analyzed using Spearman's correlation test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that most respondents were aged 20–35 years and experienced primary infertility. The Spearman test showed a statistically significant relationship between the level of social support and the level of anxiety (p = 0.000) with a correlation coefficient of r = 0.625, indicating a moderate to strong positive relationship. This indicates that women with higher levels of anxiety tend to receive or seek more intense social support. In conclusion, social support plays an important role in the dynamics of anxiety in infertile women. The integration of structured psychosocial support into infertility services is essential to improve patients' psychological well-being and quality of life.

Abstract

Language development in preschool children is an important aspect in supporting children's cognitive, social, and emotional abilities in the future. One environmental factor that is thought to contribute to speech delay is excessive use of gadgets at an early age. This study aims to analyze the effect of gadget use on speech delay in children aged 3–5 years at the Tungoi Community Health Center. This study uses an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach. The study sample consisted of 50 children aged 3–5 years who met the inclusion criteria, using consecutive sampling. Data were collected through a questionnaire on gadget use filled out by parents and a screening of children's speech development. Data analysis was performed univariately and bivariately using the Chi-Square test with a significance level of p < 0.05. The results showed that most children used gadgets for more than one hour per day (70%) and more than half of the respondents experienced speech delay (56%). The Chi-Square test showed a significant relationship between gadget use and the occurrence of speech delay (p = 0.000). Children with longer gadget use had a greater risk of speech development delay compared to children with more limited gadget use. The conclusion of this study indicates that gadget use is a significant risk factor for speech delay in children aged 3–5 years. Therefore, it is necessary to limit the duration of gadget use and increase the role of parents and health workers in providing optimal verbal stimulation and assistance to support children's language development.
