Abstract

This article aims to elaborate on the initial development of the historical learning application design, INARA (Inclusive and Gender Responsive Historia). The authors gathered data from literature reviews, including journal articles and online media, which were analyzed using a SWOT approach. The study's results showcase examples of inclusive and gender-responsive features in this application, such as games, quizzes, QR codes, and comics focusing on female heroes in Indonesia. The application is also designed with specific features to support differently-abled students in learning history. It is hoped that INARA can become a creative, engaging, and critical medium for history learning at school levels. Its innovative design and inclusive features make a valuable contribution to the scholarly discourse in education. This article is expected to enrich the understanding of utilizing technology to support inclusive and gender-responsive history learning. As part of further development efforts, INARA is anticipated to become a progressive educational solution supporting various learning needs. Abstract

Provinsi Jawa Tengah merupakan salah satu provinsi di Indonesia yang terkenal akan keragaman cagar budayanya. Hal ini terbukti dengan banyak ditemukannya peninggalan-peninggalan bangunan kuno zaman penjajahan, relief hewan-hewan purba, serta terdapat beberapa tempat yang bahkan diakui secara internasional sebagai warisan dunia. Lebih lanjut, Pemerintah Provinsi Jawa Tengah juga berpartisipasi aktif dalam upaya melestarikan berbagai cagar budaya yang ada, sehingga eksistensi atau keberadaan cagar budaya tersebut masih dapat disaksikan dan dinikmati sampai sekarang. Namun, besarnya potensi cagar budaya yang dimiliki oleh Provinsi Jawa Tengah ini ternyata tidak diimbangi dengan besarnya minat atau keinginan para pelajar untuk mempelajari dan ikut serta melestarikan cagar budaya yang ada. Adapun salah satu bentuk dukungan terhadap upaya pelestarian cagar budaya yang masih minim adalah melalui pendidikan formal. Saat ini kegiatan pembelajaran mengenai cagar budaya, khususnya yang berada di Provinsi Jawa Tengah, di sekolah-sekolah belum banyak menyentuh tataran praktis (research-based), masih cenderung textbook-oriented (media pembelajaran yang monoton), hanya menekankan pada kemampuan menghafal siswa, teacher-centered, dan membosankan. Konsekuensi dari kondisi di atas adalah para pelajar, khususnya di Jawa Tengah, menjadi apatis dan jenuh, sehingga akhirnya mereka akan semakin awam dan tidak mengetahui besarnya potensi cagar budaya yang dimiliki oleh provinsi tersebut. Oleh karena itu, dibutuhkan dukungan yang optimal dari sektor pendidikan formal agar nantinya para pelajar di provinsi Jawa Tengah dapat memperoleh informasi yang memadai tentang cagar budaya, khususnya yang ada di Jawa Tengah, dan melakukan praktik atau riset sederhana dengan bimbingan dari guru pendamping. Salah satu bentuk solusi yang ditawarkan oleh Penulis adalah dengan mengusulkan MONOGAYENG atau Permainan Monopoli Berwawasan Cagar Budaya Jawa Tengah sebagai inovasi media pembelajaran berbasis kearifan lokal bagi siswa Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK), khususnya di Provinsi Jawa Tengah. MONOGAYENG dapat dilaksanakan dalam tiga tahapan, yaitu tahap pra pembelajaran, tahap pelaksanaan dan tahap pasca pembelajaran. Kendala internal yang berupa tingkat pemahaman siswa yang berbeda, banyaknya instruksi dalam permainan dan beban penilaian oleh guru dapat diatasi dengan mengoptimalkan tahap pra pembelajaran untuk menjelaskan tata cara permainan kepada siswa, mendorong siswa untuk saling membantu menjelaskan konsep permainan dan mengatur ritme penilaian guru agar tidak overload. Kendala eksternal dapat diatasi dengan menyesuaikan materi permainan dengan Standar Kompetensi dan Kompetensi Dasar yang sejalan dengan silabus mata pelajaran serta me-laminating atau memberikan bingkai plastik pada properti permainan agar tahan lama. Adanya inovasi media pembelajaran ini diharapkan dapat merangsang kesadaran siswa akan pentingnya mengetahui potensi cagar budaya daerah, khususnya Provinsi Jawa Tengah, dan kemudian melakukan praktik terbimbing untuk menerapkan pengetahuan cagar budaya yang telah didapat agar dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai wawasan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari demi menjaga keberlangsungan cagar budaya yang ada di Jawa Tengah. Kata Kunci: monopoli, cagar budaya, jawa tengah, media pembelajaran The Central Java Province is renowned in Indonesia for its diverse cultural heritage. This is evidenced by the numerous relics of ancient colonial-era buildings, prehistoric animal reliefs, and internationally recognized heritage sites found within the region. Furthermore, the Central Java Provincial Government actively participates in preserving various cultural heritage sites, ensuring their continued existence and enjoyment to this day. However, the substantial cultural potential of Central Java is not matched by a corresponding interest or desire among students to learn about and contribute to the preservation of these cultural treasures. One form of support that remains underutilized in the conservation efforts is through formal education. Currently, educational activities concerning cultural heritage, particularly those within Central Java, lack practical (research-based) components in schools. The predominant approach is still textbook-oriented, monotonous in terms of learning media, emphasizing rote memorization, teacher-centered, and often dull. The consequence of this situation is that students, particularly in Central Java, become apathetic and disinterested, ultimately leading to their ignorance of the immense cultural potential within the province. Therefore, optimal support from the formal education sector is crucial to providing students in Central Java with adequate information about cultural heritage, especially within the province. This includes engaging them in practical activities or simple research under the guidance of supervising teachers. One proposed solution to address this issue is the introduction of "MONOGAYENG" or the Cultural Heritage Monopoly Game of Central Java as an innovative, locally grounded educational media for Vocational High School (SMK) students, specifically in Central Java. MONOGAYENG can be implemented in three stages: pre-learning, implementation, and post-learning. Internal challenges, such as varying levels of student understanding, numerous game instructions, and the assessment burden on teachers, can be addressed by optimizing the pre-learning stage to explain the game rules, encouraging students to help each other understand the concepts, and regulating the teacher's assessment pace to prevent overload. External challenges can be mitigated by aligning the game content with Competence Standards and Basic Competencies in line with the curriculum and laminating or providing plastic frames for game properties to ensure durability. The introduction of this educational media innovation is expected to stimulate students' awareness of the importance of understanding the cultural potential of their region, specifically in Central Java. Furthermore, it aims to encourage guided practical application of acquired cultural knowledge for everyday life, contributing to the preservation of cultural heritage in Central Java. Abstract

Hingga triwulan pertama di tahun 2023 berakhir, prestasi mahasiswa Program Studi (Prodi) Pendidikan dan Ilmu Sejarah di bidang kompetisi (akademik maupun non-akademik) masih nihil. Belum ada satu pun mahasiswa Pendidikan maupun Ilmu Sejarah yang berhasil menorehkan prestasi, baik di tingkat regional, nasional, mapun internasional. Di sisi lain, prestasi mahasiswa di jurusan lain di Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik sudah mulai gencar bermunculan. Hal ini patut menjadi perhatian khusus bagi para dosen di prodi Pendidikan dan Ilmu Sejarah. Selain itu, capaian prestasi mahasiswa sangat berpengaruh terhadap penilaian Indikator Kinerja Utama (IKU), terutama IKU 2. Semakin tinggi dan banyak prestasi yang diraih oleh mahasiswa, semakin baik pula asesmen dan akreditasi yang akan diberikan kepada jurusan atau prodi. Oleh karena itu, dibutuhkan sebuah program rutin terintegrasi dan kolaboratif yang disusun secara sistematis untuk dapat membantu mahasiswa meraih prestasi yang lebih baik (akselerasi) di tahun 2023 ini. Raihan prestasi ini diharapkan dapat berkontribusi dalam meningkatkan atau memperbaiki perolehan nilai prodi di aspek IKU 2. Kegiatan yang telah dirancang dan dilaksanakan dengan baik oleh Tim Pengusul adalah Inkubator Mahasiswa Berprestasi (Inmapres) 2023. Program ini berhasil mengantarkan sekitar 28 mahasiswa prodi Pendidikan dan Ilmu Sejarah meraih 22 prestasi bergengsi di tingkat nasional. Dengan demikian, raihan poin IKU 2 juga semakin bertambah baik dengan adanya torehan prestasi tersebut.

Abstract

This research investigates a traditional food unique to Semarang, Central Java. Roti Ganjel Rel is a traditional bread originally called Ontbijkoek, consumed by colonial nobles during the Dutch era. This bread holds significant historical and cultural values beyond its role as food. However, with modernization, its popularity has declined, particularly among the younger generation. Many people are beginning to forget or are unaware of this bread, raising concerns about losing this culinary heritage of Semarang. This study uses a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative techniques, including observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. It covers various aspects, such as the origins of Roti Ganjel Rel, the ingredients and tools required, and its development and current existence. Findings from the questionnaires reveal that while most respondents are aware of Roti Ganjel Rel, a considerable number are still unfamiliar with it. The research aims to provide information about Roti Ganjel Rel as a traditional food of Semarang, ensure its preservation, attract tourists, and promote this culinary heritage. By documenting and promoting Roti Ganjel Rel, the study seeks to preserve not only a food item but also the identity and history of Semarang for future generations. Penelitian ini merupakan penelusuran makanan khas sebagai ciri khas makanan di Kota Semarang, Jawa Tengah. Roti Ganjel Rel merupakan salah satu makanan tradisional khas Semarang. Awalnya roti ini dinamakan Ontbijkoek dan hanya dikonsumsi oleh kaum kolonial bangsawan pada zaman Belanda. Keberadaan Roti Ganjel Rel tidak hanya sekadar sebagai makanan, tetapi juga mengandung nilai sejarah dan budaya yang mendalam. Namun, seiring dengan perkembangan zaman dan modernisasi, popularitas Roti Ganjel Rel mulai meredup, terutama di kalangan generasi muda. Banyak yang mulai melupakan atau bahkan tidak mengenal roti ini, yang menyebabkan kekhawatiran akan hilangnya salah satu warisan kuliner kota Semarang. Penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan metode campuran (mixed-methods) yaitu kualitatif dan kuantitatif melalui observasi, wawancara, kuesioner dan dokumentasi.  Penelitian ini mencakup beberapa hal seperti asal usul Roti Ganjel Rel, bahan dan peralatan yang dibutuhkan, serta bagaimana perkembangan dan eksistensi Roti Ganjel Rel. Hasil dari penelitian melalui kuesioner dapat disimpulkan bahwa sebagian besar mengetahui Roti Ganjel Rel tetapi masih banyak juga yang belum mengetahui Roti Ganjel Rel ini. Tujuan dari penelitian ini memberikan informasi tentang Roti Ganjel Rel sebagai makanan tradisional khas Kota Semarang, menjaga eksistensinya agar tidak punah, menarik minat wisatawan, serta memperkenalkan dan mempromosikan warisan kuliner khas Kota Semarang.

Abstract

Guru memiliki fungsi yang sangat penting dan strategis untuk membimbing, mendidik dan melatih peserta didik sesuai capaian pembelajaran yang telah ditentukan. Kompetensi profesional bagi seorang guru tidak hanya tentang kemampuan menguasai materi yang diajarkan namun juga tentang kemampuan pengelolaan pembelajaran dan manajemen kelas. Seorang guru profesional dalam kelas dituntut mampu dalam membentuk kelompok guna menciptakan iklim belajar yang menyenangkan dengan mengoptimalkan penggunaan model, metode strategi dan media pembelajaran yang sesuai. Hal ini tentunya diperlukan keterampilan dalam memimpin kelas apabila guru bertindak sebagai fasilitator pembelajaran pada proses pengarahan peserta didik untuk mendapatkan pengetahuan, sikap dan keterampilan yang lebih baik. Sebagai upaya dalam pengembangan kepemimpinan guru akuntansi kota Semarang, pelatihan dapat menjadi solusi yang dapat dilakukan secara intensif. Berdasarkan Teacher Leader Model Standards, pelatihan yang diberikan untuk menguatkan kompetensi profesional guru dapat dibagi menjadi 3 aktivitas utama yaitu Collaboration, Sharing Best Practices, Taking Action. Melalui pelatihan tersebut guru dengan kemampuan kepemimpinannya dalam proses pendidikan akan mampu untuk mengoptimalkan setiap elemen seperti sarana dan prasarana, keberagaman peserta didik, rekan kerja, dan budaya sekolah untuk mengarahkan peserta didik dalam pencapaian tujuan pendidikan nasional yaitu terciptanya manusia terdidik

Abstract

Many local histories in Indonesia remain unnoticed by learners. Learning materials that inform the local histories are generally limited, boring, and do not fit and attract today’s learners, especially those available in English. We investigated the potential of an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classroom project that promotes and celebrates local histories in Indonesia through (digital) comics. The comics were developed by second-year university students majoring in history (n=156) working in groups of three or four. A total of 51 comics with various themes related to Indonesian local histories were successfully created and exhibited virtually on a designated Instagram account. A questionnaire with a 5-point Likert scale containing 12 statements and two open-ended questions was employed to examine the impact of this project-based learning on students’ understanding and awareness of conserving their local histories through comics. We analyzed the results using SPSS (for quantitative data) and thematic analysis (for qualitative data). Findings indicate that students believe a comic is an interesting medium for learning local history and that local histories in Indonesia need to be promoted via various media, including comics. Future research should investigate the effects of English comics on students’ comprehension of local history in Indonesia and linguistic competence in history-related vocabulary and pronunciation.

Abstract

Abstract

The globalization era presents challenges in preserving the existence, sustainability, and authenticity of local literary heritage, including folklore. Today, folklore is gradually fading and becoming less familiar among younger generations. However, regional literary literacy plays an essential role in building and maintaining the cultural identity of a community and contributes to fostering positive character development in children from an early age. Recognizing the central role of regional literary literacy in shaping children’s growth and development, it is crucial to internalize positive values derived from folklore amidst moral decadence. Responding to the duality between modernity and the preservation of local wisdom, this study aims to highlight the significant relevance of strengthening regional literature through the read-aloud method. The research focuses on teachers and parents of students at SD Negeri Pakintelan 03 Gunungpati, Semarang, Central Java. “Ketika Nasi Menangis”, a trilingual book developed in Indonesian, Javanese, and English, was used as a medium to support this research. The findings indicate that reading folklore aloud has a positive impact on children’s character development in general and the enhancement of regional literary literacy in particular. For parents and teachers, this study has fostered their understanding of the importance of bedtime storytelling through the read-aloud folklore method, encouraged enthusiasm for narrating bedtime stories, and provided a practical guide for effective storytelling.

Abstract

Writing skills are one of the basic competencies that must be mastered by students, especially in the context of writing procedural texts. Writing procedural texts involves the ability to devise clear and structured steps in completing a task or activity. At the basic education level, this skill is very important because it helps students in understanding and organizing information systematically. This study aims to analyze the differences in procedural writing skills between 4th and 6th grade students at SD Al Hikmah Surabaya. The reason for choosing grade 4 and grade 6 as the object of research is because the two levels have the same learning topic, namely writing procedural texts. This study uses a quantitative method with a descriptive approach, where data is collected through procedural writing tasks given to 4th and 6th grade students. This assignment requires students to write down procedures related to daily activities such as how to make food or how to clean tools. The results showed that grade 6 students had better ability to write procedural texts compared to grade 4 students, especially in terms of clarity of steps, use of appropriate language, and the ability to explain the details of the procedure. This difference can be influenced by age factors, learning experience, and the level of cognitive understanding of students. This research is expected to provide insight for teachers in designing more effective learning to improve students' procedural writing skills at the elementary level.

Abstract

Lentog Tanjung is a traditional culinary heritage of Tanjungkarang Village, Kudus Regency, which embodies historical values and oral traditions (folklore) worth exploring. This culinary tradition reflects the community's identity and forms part of their collective memory, making its preservation crucial. However, modernization and lifestyle changes pose a risk of diminishing this tradition's existence, particularly among the younger generation. This community engagement project aims to strengthen the collective memory of Tanjungkarang Village residents regarding the oral tradition of Lentog Tanjung through a digitalization approach as a means of preserving intangible cultural heritage. The method employed is CBPAR (Community-Based Participatory Action Research), involving relevant stakeholders in a collaborative engagement process. The project consists of seven stages: preliminary study, material digitalization, creation of a digital platform, dissemination, evaluation, and monitoring. Digital technology was utilized to document the Lentog Tanjung oral tradition through videos, audio recordings, a website-based digital platform, and comics. Prior to the implementation of the engagement activities, research was conducted on the history and existence of Lentog Tanjung. The results indicate that digitalizing oral traditions can strengthen community connections with their cultural heritage, particularly among younger generations, and enhance community awareness of the importance of preserving local traditions through modern technology. Digitalization appears to be a promising method for documenting and disseminating the Lentog Tanjung oral tradition, thus prolonging its lifespan amidst globalizations. This project contributes to the development of local cultural preservation strategies through innovative, technology-based approaches.
