Abstract

Pare Plant is a type of horticultural plant originating from the cucurbitaceae family. Bitter gourd contains antioxidants that help suppress the inflammatory response and lower glucose levels in diabetes. Cultivation of bitter melon by using pruning and the use of NPK fertilizer can increase production yields. Pruning on plants needs to be done in order to increase the number of flowers produced by plants. NPK fertilizer is a macro nutrient needed by plants to be able to grow and metabolic processes in plants can run well. This research was conducted in the Patrang sub-district, Patrang sub-district, Jember district which was carried out from March to June 2021. This research method used a completely randomized design (RAL) with a 4x3 factorial design which was repeated 3 times. The first factor is pruning which consists of 3 levels of treatment P1 (without pruning), P2 (3 branches pruning on segments 1-3 and P3 (6 pruning branches on sections 1-6), and the second factor is the dose of NPK fertilizer which consists of 4 The treatment levels were N1 (0 g/plant), N2 (10g/plant), N3 (20 g/plant) and N4 (30 g/plant). The experimental results showed that there was an interaction effect on NPK fertilization with pruning which gave very significant different results to fruit diameter. The effect of NPK fertilizer application was significantly different on fruit length and fruit volume. In the treatment, the effect of giving NPK fertilizer was not significantly different on the initial appearance of flowers, the number of fruits and significantly different on the number of fruits.

Abstract

Bahan baku pembuatan kue umumnya berasal dari tepung terigu yang sebagian besar merupakan barang impor dan mahal, sehingga kelompok mitra hanya membuat kue berdasarkan pesanan. Produksi kue yang tidak kontinu menyebabkan pendapatan yang rendah dan tidak pasti. Untuk mendukung keberlanjutan proses usaha di Amanda Jaya, diperlukan modifikasi bahan baku pembuatan kue dari tepung jagung. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah mengenalkan teknologi pengolahan dan pengemasan cookies dari tepung jagung lokal untuk meningkatkan nilai guna dari jagung lokal serta berdaya saing. Pelaksanaan kegiatan dilakukan dengan metode ceramah dan praktik yang terdiri dari (a) penyuluhan tentang produksi makanan sesuai Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), (b) praktik pembuatan cookies dari tepung jagung lokal, (c) penyuluhan tentang teknologi pengemasan dan pelabelan produk. Para peserta belum mengetahui standar GMP menggunakan prinsip Cara Pembuatan Makanan yang Baik (CPMB) dalam proses pembuatan kue, namun lokasi produksi kue sudah baik. Cookies dikemas menggunakan toples plastik dan aluminium foil dan diberi label “Jalo Cookies” (jagung lokal cookies) supaya lebih menarik. Cookies dari 100% tepung jagung mempunyai rasa yang bisa diterima, namun peserta tidak terlalu menyukai teksturnya karena terlalu kasar dan mudah pecah. Rencana selanjutnya adalah memodifikasi komposisi tepung jagung dengan tepung terigu pada resep.

Abstract

Dry land is one of quite extensive marginal lands that has great potential to be developed into productive agricultural land. Limited water availability and organic matter content in dry land hamper plant adaptation, causing low dryland productivity. Combining cow dung manure as a source of organic material that is easy to obtain, able to help provide nutrients, and increase the availability of moisture and microorganisms in the soil with mustard plants which have a short harvest life and quite extensive adaptation, is expected to be an alternative solution in efforts to increase the productivity of dry land. The research aims to determine the possibility of using cow dung as a source of manure in the cultivation of green mustard on dry land. The research is based on a Randomized Complete Block Design consisting of 12 treatments with three replications. Treatments included a combination of varieties with no cow dung as a control; varieties with the addition of 10 tons ha-1 of cow dung; varieties with the addition of 20 tons Ha-1 of cow dung and varieties with the addition of 30 tons ha-1 of cow dung. The data obtained were analyzed using variance and if there were significant differences, it was continued with the HSD test at the 5% level. The research results showed that applying cow dung manure can increase the growth and yield of green mustard on dry land. The variety of Kumala showed the most adaptive response, followed by Puteri and Tosakan

Abstract

The fertilization management is one strategy to optimize the quantity and quality of rice production. Our study was aimedto investigate the effect of potassium fertilization several agronomical parameters andthe rate of head rice after milling process. The study was conducted from March 2018 to July 2018 in the Agrotechnopark experimental field University of Jember in District of Sukorambi, Jember. Randomized Block Design (RBD) was used with the frequency of potassium chlorice (KCl) fertilization asthe single factor. The conducted potassium treatments were as follows: without KCl fertilization (control), one-time KCl fertilization, two times KCl fertilization, three times KCl fertilization and each fertilization level was conducted by sixrepetitions. The agronomic parameters such as plant height, tiller number, flowering time, rate of productive tillers, grain number per panicle, weight of 1000 grains, and percentage of filled grain were analyzed and percentage of head rice rate was determined as quality parameter. Our results showed that different treatment of potassium did not significantly affect the plant height, tillernumber, flowering time, rate of productive tillers, total grains per panicle, and weight of 1000 grains. On the other hands, the percentage of filled grainand the rate of head rice after milling were significantly increased by potassium fertilization. Compare to the control treatment, three times potassium fertilization resulted 9.24% and 13.83% increase of filled grain and head rice after two times milling, respectively. Our result suggest that potassium fertilization is important for grainquality of Merah Wangi rice variety. Keywords: Merah Wangi, potassium fertilization, growth, physical quality.

Abstract

Tanaman buah naga termasuk tanaman hari panjang sehingga untuk menginduksi pembungannya setidaknya diperlukan penyinaran lebih dari 12 jam atau lebih dari waktu normal matahari muncul hingga terbenam. Buah naga umumnya berbunga pada bulan Oktober sampai Maret dan di luar bulan tersebut tanaman tidak berbunga atau memasuki masa off-season. Kondisi off-season akan menjadi peluang bagi petani buah naga untuk meningkatkan pendapatan dikarenakan harga jual buah naga di masa off-season relatif lebih mahal dibanding harga normal pada musimnya. Sebagi upaya untuk mengatasi kondisi off season pada tanaman buah naga perlu dilakukan induksi pembungaan dengan memperpanjang lama penyinaran menggunakan cahaya lampu LED. Diharapkan akan diperoleh lama penyinaran tertentu yang mampu menginduksi pembungaan serta meningkatkan hasil panen buah naga guna memenuhi pasokan buah naga di masa off season. Penelitian telah dilaksanakan pada bulan Maret hingga Juli 2022. Lokasi peneitian di lahan buah naga di Desa Lidah RT 03 RW 08 Dusun Lidah Kecamatan Gambiran Kabupaten Banyuwangi. Metode dalam penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) yang terdiri atas empat perlakuan dan diulang sebanyak 4 kali. Perlakuan percobaan terdiri atas : 1. Kontrol (tanpa pencahayaan) (S0), 2. Pemberian cahaya LED tambahan 3 jam per hari (S1), 3. Pemberian cahaya LED tambahan 5 jam per hari (S2), 4. Pemberian cahaya LED tambahan 7 jam per hari (S3). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan pemberian tambahan cahaya menggunakan lampu LED selama 29 hari sudah mampu mendorong terbentuknya bunga pada tanaman buah naga dan pemberian cahaya tambahan berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap variabel jumlah muncul bunga, jumlah bunga rontok, Fruit-set, jumlah buah, berat buah dan grade buah.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the composition of the planting medium with the concentration of liquid organic fertilizer of Moringa leaves on the growth and yield of shallot plants. This research was conducted in October 2022 - March 2023 in the greenhouse of the Soil Science Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jember. The study used a completely randomized design with 2 factors, there were 16 treatment combinations, 3 repetitions, and each repetition there were 3 experimental units, so that 144 experimental units were obtained. The first factor is the composition of the planting medium consisting of control; soil: cow manure (1:2); soil: cow manure (2:2) and soil: cow manure (3:2). The second factor was the concentration of liquid organic fertilizer for moringa leaves which consisted of control; 20ml/l; 50 ml/l and 80ml/l. The results showed that there was an interaction effect between the treatment of the composition of the planting medium and the concentration of liquid organic fertilizer of Moringa leaves on the fresh weight of the tubers and the dry weight of the tubers. The treatment of the composition of the planting media was able to increase the growth and yield of shallot plants, and the addition of liquid organic fertilizer for Moringa leaves was able to increase the growth and yield of shallot plants.

Abstract

Pengaturan sitem tanam merupakan salah satu bentuk intensifikasi budidaya yang paling mudah dilakukan guna meningkatkan produktivitas dan kualitas jagung semi. Penelitian bertujuan mengetahui perubahan karakter morfologi, fisiologi dan hasil tanaman jagung semi pada tiga sistem tanam yang berbeda. Penelitian menggunakan pola dasar Rancangan Acak Kelompok yang terdiri atas tiga perlakuan dengan sembilan ulangan. Perlakuan berupa bentuk sistem tanam yang terdiri atas tiga taraf yaitu: S1 (sistem tanam baris tunggal) ; S2 (sistem tanam jajar legowo 2:1); S3 (sistem tanam jajar legowo 3 : 1). Data pengamatan dianalisis menggunakan sidik ragam dan apabila terdapat perbedaan nyata dilanjutkan dengan uji BNJ taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan sistem tanam belum mengubah karakter morfologi batang dan daun jagung semi kecuali sudut daun tengah dan bawah tetapi telah mengubah kadar klorofil dan kerapatan stomata daun sebagai indikator fisiologi. Perbedaan sistem tanam tidak mempengaruhi berat segar tongkol semi per tanaman tetapi berpengaruh pada berat segar tongkol semi per petak dan sistem tanam jajar legowo 2:1 menghasilkan berat segar tongkol semi per petak paling tinggi.

Abstract

Probolinggo and Lumajang districts are two regions in East Java that have horticultural villages with the potential to develop fruit and vegetable crops. Efforts to develop horticultural villages in the region need to be made to achieve the realization of horticultural villages that are independent and advanced, more modern and have high competitiveness. This socialization and development activity aims to increase understanding of horticultural farmer groups regarding efforts to develop horticultural villages in both regions in accordance with the standards of horticultural villages that are independent and advanced and have sales value, provide guidance and training to horticultural village farmers regarding the cultivation of horticultural plants and processing of products accordingly. commodities developed in each region, explore several factors that influence the level of success and sustainability of the horticultural village development program in the sampling area, obtain input regarding recommendations for improving programs or activities carried out in each sampling horticultural village using descriptive and quantitative analysis . Horticultural farmers' understanding regarding the development of horticultural villages in the Probolinggo and Lumajang districts is still low and does not meet the standards of horticultural villages that are independent and advanced and have sales value. Efforts to develop horticultural villages in the Probolinggo and Lumajang districts show positive developments in several commodities, while for annual fruit commodities, factors that influence the sustainability indicators of the horticultural village development program. Apart from that, there are factors such as the quality of the farmer group's human resources and the involvement of stakeholders which greatly influences the sustainability of the development of horticulture villages. Efforts to develop horticulture villages require the provision of facilities and assistance with production facilities, infrastructure and guidance on post-harvest handling, processing, market development and the development of farmers' economic institutions.

Abstract

Tanaman mentimun (Cucumis sativus L.) memiliki manfaat sebagai sumber buah yang dapat dikonsumsi segar dan mengandung nutrisi penting bagi tubuh. Namun, tantangan dalam budidaya mentimun adalah rendahnya persentase bunga betina yang berkembang menjadi buah sempurna. Salah satu upaya untuk meningkatkan jumlah bunga betina dan produktivitas adalah dengan pemangkasan tunas dan pemberian GA3. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh interaksi antara pemangkasan pucuk dan aplikasi GA3 terhadap pertumbuhan dan produktivitas mentimun. Rancangan acak kelompok (RAK) faktorial digunakan dengan dua faktor, yaitu waktu pemangkasan pucuk (tanpa pemangkasan, pemangkasan pada 21 HST, dan 28 HST) dan konsentrasi GA3 (0, 50, 100, dan 150 ppm), masing-masing diulang tiga kali. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi GA3 100 ppm berpengaruh signifikan terhadap waktu munculnya bunga, jumlah buah per tanaman, panjang dan diameter buah, serta fruitset. Selain itu, pemberian GA3 100 ppm juga meningkatkan luas daun dan bobot buah per tanaman. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa pemberian hormon giberelin pada konsentrasi tertentu dapat meningkatkan hasil produktivitas tanaman mentimun secara signifikan.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenggunaan pupuk anorganik yang masih menjadi andalan pada budidaya bawang merah, selain telah mencapai titik jenuhnya juga berdampak negatif terhadap kualitas tanah dan kesehatan lingkungan. Upaya mengurangi penggunaan pupuk anorganik dapat dilakukan melalui substitusi menggunakan pupuk organik, salah satunya dengan memanfaatkan kotoran kambing. Kombinasi penggunaan pupuk kotoran kambing dengan kalium, diharapkan selain dapat memenuhi kesuburan kimia juga dapat memenuhi kesuburan fisik dan biologi untuk tanaman bawang merah. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kombinasi pupuk kotoran kambing dengan kalium terhadap keragaan pertumbuhan dan hasil bawang merah. Penelitian menggunakan pola dasar rancangan acak lengkap yang terdiri atas 12 perlakuan hasil dari kombinasi 3 taraf penambahan kotoran kambing dengan 4 taraf dosis kalium yang diulang 3 kali. Data dianalisis menggunakan sidik ragam dan dilanjutkan dengan uji BNJ 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan pupuk kotoran kambing yang dikombinasikan dengan pupuk kalium berpengaruh nyata terhadap keragaan pertumbuhan dan hasil bawang merah varietas Biru Lanchor. Penambahan kotoran kambing sebanyak 200 g tanaman-1 dengan KCl sebanyak 2 g tanaman-1 mampu meningkatkan berat segar umbi sebagai keragaan hasil utama bawang merah.Kata kunci: bawang merah; kalium; pupuk organik ABSTRACT The use of inorganic fertilizers, which is still a mainstay in shallot cultivation, apart from having reached its saturation point, also has a negative impact on soil quality and environmental health. Efforts to reduce the use of inorganic fertilizers can be done by substituting with organic fertilizers, one of which is by using goat manure. It is hoped that the combination of using goat manure fertilizer with potassium will not only fulfill chemical fertility but also fulfill physical and biological fertility for shallot plants. The research aims to determine the effect of a combination of goat manure and potassium on the growth performance and yield of shallots. The research is based on a randomized complete design consisting of 12 treatments resulting from a combination of 3 levels of adding goat manure with 4 levels of potassium dosage which 3 times replication. The data was analyzed using variance and continued with the 5% BNJ test. The research results showed that the addition of goat manure combined with potassium fertilizer had a significant effect on the growth and yield performance of the shallots variety Biru Lanchor. The addition of 200 g tanaman-1 goat manure with 2 g tanaman-1 KCl can increase the fresh weight of tubers as the main indicator of shallots yield. Keywords: shallot; potassium; organic fertilizer.
