Abstract

Blending offers a unique and unusual character which is frequently used by mass because of its creativity and this study aims to figure out the pattern of English blending words in Indonesian’s newspaper created and the meanings of those blending words. The study found that the complex words shows the pattern. The pattern of those analyzed complex words are categorized into AB + CD =AD. These patterns are based on Plag’s theory about blending words. The meaning of those complex words was built based on the first and the second words. It follows the pattern of AD, namely the first term (A) and the last term (D) are combined.  The twenty blending words discussed are not common in English itself. It is because these English complex words have been domesticated by Indonesian’s terms.

Abstract

The objectives of this research is to obtain information on the effect of physical working environments, group dynamics and coping strategies to occupational stress. Analysis unit is English lecturer’s of three Universities of North Sumatera in Medan, involving 251 English lecturer’s selected randomly. Data analysis applies lane analisys with SPSS program. Research findings show that physical working environment, group dynamics has direct effect to coping strategies, coping strategies has direct effect to occupational stress. Physical working environment and group dynamics through coping strategies has indirect effect to occupational stress. Based on the result of inferential study that occupational stress explainable by variable coping strategies, group dinamics and physical working environment. Equally physical working environment and group dynamics in good condition and supported by choice correct coping strategies, will result occupational stress to decline.

Abstract

Higher Education is an effective educational institution in determining and producing the next scientific generation in the future. There are some factors that can transform the higher education institutions, such as: commitment owned by the organizers, trust, interpersonal communication, leadership and organizational culture. This research was conducted from October 2015 until October 2016. The sample for this research is all lecturers in UIN North Sumatera amounted to 419 lecturers spread across 38 departments under eight faculties. This research aims to analyze the influence of one variable on other variables, either direct influence of 0.241, 0.273 and 0.212 or indirect influence of 0.097, 0.219, 0.120 and 0.472, those are: (culture of undergraduate school (X1), leadership (X2), and interpersonal communication (X3) and exogenous variables are trust (X4), commitment (X5) and effectiveness of undergraduate school (X6). This research use analysis technique of PATH ANALYSYS. Regarding the development model of an effective undergraduate school, it can also be assessed based on system approach techniques, ranging from inputs (to school effectiveness study); Processes/ throughputs; Outputs (of school effectiveness study); and outcomes (longer-term results of study).

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine: (1) the implementation of playing methods in science learning at Raudhatul Atfhal Asyyifa Medan. (2) children's activities in participating in science learning at Raudhatul Atfhal Asyyifa Medan, and (3) the application of play methods can improve children's critical thinking skills in science learning. The study was conducted at Raudhatul Atfhal Asyyifa Medan. The method used is a qualitative research method. Data sources are the principal, teachers and students. Data retrieved through observation, documentation, and interviews. Data are analyzed based on data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The research findings show: (1) the implementation of play methods in science learning at Raudhatul Atfhal Asyyifa Medan, presented through various science experiment activities that can improve children's critical thinking skills. This can happen, because in science learning done with fun through science experiments that are packaged in playing while learning, children are not burdened with things that are academic because actually the nature of learning in kindergarten emphasizes more fun learning activities so the concept of play is very strong, (2) children's activities in participating in science learning at Raudhatul Atfhal Asyyifa Medan showed a positive response in this case because learning is done while playing that brings children to a pleasant atmosphere because science experiments applied are varied experiments in which there are children's activities to think critically, and (3) the application of play methods can improve children's critical thinking skills in learning science.

Abstract

This research describes the context of learning or lectures at academic achievement colleges known as achievement indexes (IP) and cumulative grade index (GPA). This is confirmed in the process standard operation (SOP) of Lectures and Curriculum with the number Un-11.JSOPP-04-02.R0 published by the North Sumatra State Islamic University Medan that Academic achievement is the result achieved by student guidance in study activities at the University North Sumatra State Islamic Medan as proof of the success that has been achieved after conducting learning or lecture activities. The results achieved by these students can take the form of subject values, Grade Point Average (GPA), championship rank, graduation grade, and completing studies on time. In the perspective of the study of academic achievement theory known as learning outcomes. The discussion of learning outcomes cannot be separated from the study of the concept of learning itself, because learning outcomes are obtained after going through the learning process carried out by students. This research carried out using a mixed method approach, which is a combination of qualitative and quantitative research. Qualitative research used is naturalistic, because it is based on the consideration that what is sought in this research is data that will describe and paint complex social reality in such a way that it becomes a concrete social phenomenon. The research situation chosen in this study was the academic achievement of students from high school and aliyah madrasa in the English Education Study Program at the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training at North Sumatra State Islamic University Medan, covering a broad context, involving many actors, time different places, different processes and processes

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the implementation of graduate marketing strategies at the As-Sunnah Islamic Religious College (STAI) Deli Serdang, using descriptive qualitative methods with data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and documentation studies. The results showed that STAI As-Sunnah implemented an inclusive marketing strategy with a direct approach through social media and digital platforms, as well as an indirect approach through alumni networks, service programmes, and social programmes. STAI As-Sunnah graduates have high competitiveness, especially in syar'i science, Arabic language, and memorisation of the Koran, and are supported by strong Islamic values. STAI As-Sunnah's graduate marketing strategy includes recruitment and job placement, adjustments to the college curriculum, partnerships with related institutions, promotion through social media, and support from alumni and universities.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the performance and motivation of madrasah principals and teachers, especially in Madrasah Aliyah Swasta YASPI Labuhan Deli Medan City, and can provide insight in implementing strategic management for other madrasahs. This study used a qualitative research approach to collect data through interviews, observations, and documentation studies. The results showed that madrasah supervisors in MAS YASPI Labuhan Deli Kota Medan have adopted a series of strategies that have proven effective in improving the performance and motivation of madrasah heads and teachers. Through simple steps such as needs analysis, communication, collaboration, goal setting, training, coaching, and rewards, they have succeeded in stimulating growth and progress in the educational environment. Strategy implementation is done through a process that involves open communication, performance observation, active collaboration, and support and recognition of achievements. Evaluation of the strategy is done systematically by assessing success in achieving goals, identifying shortcomings and providing guidance for improvement. Thus, madrasah supervisors not only act as supervisors, but also as leaders and facilitators who help improve the quality of education in MAS YASPI Labuhan Deli Medan City, making the environment more productive and developed.

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif jenis eksperimen. Peneliti membagi dua kelompok penelitian, kelompok pertama merupakan kelompok kelas eksperimen yang menggunakan strategi pembelajaran bernyanyi dan kelompok kedua merupakan kelompok kelas kontrol yang menggunakan strategi pembelajaran terbimbing. Dalam penelitian ini terdapat rancangan penelitian yang tepat yakni dengan menggunakan rancangan penelitian pra-eksperimen pretest posttest control group design yakni menggunakan kelas perbandingan yang dibagi menjadi dua kelompok. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh anak didik di TK B RA Ummul Qura yang berjumlah 20 orang dengan sampel yang dibagi menjadi dua kelompok yakni 10 anak dalam kelompok B1 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan 10 anak dalam kelompok B2 sebagai kelas kontrol. Untuk memperoleh data dari sumbernya digunakan beberapa instrumen pengumpulan data yaitu observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Diketahui  Uhitung = 1 dan Utabel = 23 dengan syarat perbandingannya yakni jika Uhitung < Utabel maka H0 ditolak. Maka hasilnya dapat dituliskan 1 < 23 maka H0 (tidak ada pengaruh) ditolak, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa strategi pembelajaran bernyanyi dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca Iqro’ anak usia dini kelompok B di RAUmmul Qura Stabat.

Abstract

Pendidikan yang baik dan benar kepada anak, dapat dimulai dari pendidikan anak usia dini. Ditemukan beberapa permasalah terkait fasilitas bermain anak belum memadai untuk perkembangan motorik anak usia dini, tenaga pendidik masih didominasi yang tidak sesuai jurusan dengan pendidikan anak usia dini, dan model pembelajran yang belum bervariasi. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif eksperimen. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah True Experimental design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini ialah seluruh jumlah murid RA Aisya Az Zahra sebanyak 65 orang. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan peneliti adalah teknik purposive sampling. Kelas yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas A yang berjumlah 30 siswa sebagai kelas kontrol dan kelas B sebagai kelas eksperimen yang berjumlah 30 siswa. Desain penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Pretest- Postest Control Group Design. Hasil terdapat pengaruh pada kemampuan aspek kognitif dan kemampuan aspek motorik model pembelajaran snowball throwing. Diperoleh nilai aspek kognitif t hitung = 6,44 maka thitung > ttabel (6,44>2,093) dan nilai aspek  aspek t hitung = 5,96 maka thitung > ttabel (5,96>2,093).
