Abstract

Critical thinking skills are part of higher-order thinking skills that need to be developed. Many strategi have been given by researchers in the field of mathematics. Newton and Tonelli (2020) provide inquiry-based mathematics lessons (inquiry) to overcome the problems of learners who struggle in the face of students' understanding in the field of mathematics. The learning and inquiry process itself has been widely developed to improve critical thinking skills. The purpose of this development research is to develop an inquiry-based mathematical literacy learning model to encourage critical thinking. From the results of the needs analysis and conceptual design, an inquiry-based mathematical literacy (IBML) learning model design was obtained that pays attention to the IBL model and the type of inquiry will be tested on the design made.

Abstract

Students in solving problems have different abilities according to their intelligence. The purpose of this study was to analyze the thinking processes of management students in solving functional problems. This study used a descriptive qualitative research type. The research subjects consisted of three students with the lowest, medium and highest average learning outcomes. The data collection technique was carried out by triangulation (combined) and the results of qualitative research emphasized meaning rather than generalization. The results show that: (1) Students with high average learning outcomes understand the problem, develop a resolution plan, solve the problem according to the plan and re-examine the results obtained so that the assimilation process is carried out at each stage. (2) Students with average learning are not understanding the problem carefully, causing errors in planning and problem solving. In the re-examination stage, the assimilation and accommodation process is carried out by students. (3) Students with low learning averages make imperfections in the assimilation and accommodation processes both in understanding the problem, compiling a settlement plan, solving problems and re-examining the results obtained.

Abstract

Effective mathematics instruction requires teachers to diagnose students’ errors and provide scaffolding that is responsive to their learning needs. Yet, pre-service pre-service mathematics teachers (PMTs) frequently encounter challenges in identifying the nature of students’ mistakes and in designing appropriate instructional support. This study investigates the types of student errors diagnosed by pre-service pre-service mathematics teachers and the scaffolding patterns that emerge from their diagnostic practices. Adopting a qualitative descriptive approach, data were gathered through video analysis, microteaching, classroom practice, and in depth interviews. The analysis indicates that pre-service pre-service teachers recognized four major categories of student errors: conceptual misunderstandings, procedural inaccuracies, representational mistakes, and strategic misapplications. In addressing these errors, they employed four corresponding scaffolding patterns. Conceptual scaffolding supported students in reconstructing mathematical meaning, procedural scaffolding provided step-by-step guidance, strategic scaffolding encouraged evaluation of alternative approaches, and metacognitive scaffolding fostered reflection on reasoning and symbolic interpretation. These findings underscore scaffolding as a dynamic and adaptive practice shaped by teachers’ professional vision. The study contributes to mathematics teacher education by demonstrating how practice-based programs can strengthen pre-service pre-service teachers’ capacity to notice, diagnose, and respond to students’ thinking, thereby promoting more inclusive and meaningful mathematics learning. This research provides new insights into how pre-service teachers’ scaffolding practices, shaped by error diagnosis, can inform teacher education globally.

Abstract

In the millennial era, businesses in the culinary sector are growing rapidly, as a result encouraging tight competition in similar businesses. One of them is a simple roadside restaurant to a fast food restaurant outlet both locally and abroad (franchise), as a result, restaurant business owners must understand and understand the factors to support the marketing of these products (culinary). The purpose of this writing is to determine the influence of service quality, promotions and product quality on consumer satisfaction in the culinary industry in Lamongan. This writing uses a quantitative writing design using a survey method which involves distributing questionnaires to a sample of 99 informants. Data collection was carried out through random sampling, and SPSS version 22 was used for analysis. The findings of this paper show that three variables—service quality (X3), product quality (X1), and promotion quality (X2)—have a statistically significant and positive impact on consumer satisfaction (Y).

Abstract

Abstract

When solving problems, the spontaneous actions of students identified as slow learners (SL) often reflect their cognitive limitations. This study analyzed students' SL understanding of mathematical concepts through representational gestures as a means of communication in constructing concepts. A qualitative case study was conducted in a public junior high school in Lamongan Regency. From eight SL students identified through IQ tests and teacher interviews, only three consistently used representational gestures and were selected as the subjects. Although limited, this sample enabled an in-depth analysis while acknowledging restricted generalization. Data were collected through functional tasks, gesture observations, and interviews and were then analyzed interactively through data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that SL students frequently used hand gestures to represent graph axes or intersection points but misinterpreted variable relationships. They could only classify objects based on conceptual conditions, while other indicators of understanding were not attained. These findings suggest that teachers should consider students’ gestures not only as spontaneous expressions but also as diagnostic cues for misconceptions and as a support for mathematical communication.
