Abstract

This research was motivated by the low mathematics learning outcomes of class IX students at SMP Negeri 20 Kupang on Quadratic Equations material. The aim of this research is to improve the mathematics learning outcomes of class IX students at SMP Negeri 20 Kupang by applying the problem based learning model assisted by comic media (pixton) to the quadratic equation material. The research method used is Classroom Action Research Kemmis and Mc Taggart models which are carried out in 2 cycles with each cycle having 4 stages, namely: 1) planning; 2) implementation; 3) observation; and 4) reflection. The data collection techniques in this research are observation, tests and documentation, while the data analysis is descriptive qualitative and quantitative. The results of this research show that the percentage of classical student learning completeness in cycle I was 63.63%, increasing to 81.81% in cycle II, the value of implementing observations of teacher teaching activities in cycle I was 95%, increasing to 100% in cycle II and the value The implementation of student activities in cycle I was 85.71%, increasing to 100% in cycle II. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of the problem based learning model assisted by comics (pixton) can improve the learning outcomes of class IX students at SMP Negeri 20 Kupang in the quadratic equation material.

Abstract

The number of smartphone users is increasing across various demographics, including students. With the presence of smartphones among students, it should be able to assist learners in enhancing their interest and understanding of mathematics effectively, anytime and anywhere. Therefore, this research aims to develop a mathematics learning media based on an Android application using PowerPoint and iSpring for set theory material for Grade VII students at Swadaya Tarus Private Junior High School that is valid, practical, and effective. The method employed in this research is research and development using the ADDIE development model: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Data for this research were obtained through interviews, questionnaires, and tests. The results of this research show that the set theory class application meets the criteria for valid, practical, and effective learning media for set theory material. The average total validity score from three validators is 4.34, indicating that the Android-based mathematics learning media falls into the valid category. The average practicality score from the large class teacher is 4.38, and the responses from the small-scale trial students were 4.6, while the responses from the large-scale trial students were 4.67, placing the Android-based mathematics learning media in the practical category. Additionally, the pass rate for small-scale trial students was 80%, and the pass rate for the large-scale trial students was 70%, indicating that the developed Android-based mathematics learning media falls into the effective category.

Abstract

During the learning of mathematics in SMA Negeri Benlutu, especially in class XI, teacher use WhatsApp group to send materials in .pdf format to students. Meanwhile, there is no sufficient learning media to support learning in the classroom. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to create interactive learning media, to help students understand valid, practical, and effective mathematical concepts about geometric transformation material in class XI MIPA SMA Negeri Benlutu. This research uses the research and development (R&D) method with the ADDIE development model consisting of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The instruments used are interviews, questionnaires, and concept understanding tests. The results showed that the ThransForMath application met the three criteria of learning media feasibility: valid, practical, and effective. Valid criteria were obtained from the average validity of three material and media experts, which reached 4,7, or in the "valid" category. Practical criteria are obtained from the average practicality of all students in small and large classes, which reached 4,74 and 4,83, respectively, or in the "practical" category. Effective criteria are obtained from the results of students' concept understanding tests in small and large class trials of 100% and 88%, respectively, or in the "effective" category.
