Abstract

Hypertension in pregnancy or preeclampsia, needs special treatment because it can reduce blood flow to the placenta, which will affect the supply of oxygen and nutrients to the baby. This will slow down the growth of the baby and increase the risks during delivery. It is estimated that preeclampsia complicates 2-8% of pregnancies globally. In Latin America and the Caribbean, hypertensive disorders are responsible for almost 26% of maternal deaths, while in Africa and Asia, they contribute to 9%. In 2021 there were 7,389 deaths in Indonesia, one of the contributing factors was hypertension in pregnancy. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between a history of hypertension, obesity, and age simultaneously with the incidence of preeclampsia in pregnant women at Muhammadiyah Palembang Hospital in 2022. The research design used is quantitative analytical research with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study were all pregnant women who checked their pregnancies at the Palembang Muhammadiyah Hospital in 2022. A total of 1,708 people. The number of samples used in this study was 94. The results of univariate analysis of 94 respondents found 12 respondents (12.8%) experienced preeclampsia and those who did not experience preeclampsia were 82 respondents (98.2%). The results of the chi-square statistical test for the variable history of hypertension obtained ρ value = 0.000, the obesity variable ρ value = 0.001, the mother's age variable ρ value = 0.001 less than α = 0.05 indicating that there is a significant relationship between the history of hypertension and the incidence of preeclampsia at home Palembang Muhammadiyah Hospital in 2022. Suggestions for the leadership of the Muhammadiyah Hospital are that the results of this research can be used as input and information material for the hospital in making health programs for pregnant women, especially the problem of preeclampsia.

Abstract

The 2020 World Health Organization (WHO) data shows that the usage of Intrauterine Device (IUD) contraception worldwide, especially in developing countries, is still lower than other contraceptive methods such as injections, pills, condoms, and implants. Factors influencing contraceptive use include maternal attitude towards IUD, knowledge level, and family planning services (implants). Maternal knowledge level, attitude, husband’s support, and family planning services significantly impact the use of contraceptive implants compared to IUDs. The aim of this study is to determine the simultaneous relationship between knowledge, attitude, and family support with the selection of IUD contraception in the working area of Betung Community Health Center in the year 2023. This research employed descriptive analytics with a cross-sectional approach. The population of the study consists of all reproductive-aged women who are family planning acceptors visiting Betung Community Health Center, totaling 287 individuals. The research samples were obtained through purposive sampling, resulting in a sample size of 167 respondents. Data were gathered by means of questionnaires and analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses, including the chi-square test. The results of this study showed that there was a relationship between knowledge (p value = 0.000), attitude (p value = 0.019), and spousal support (p value = 0.006) with the selection of IUD contraception in the working area of Betung Community Health Center in the year 2023. It is expected that the health center will enhance health promotion efforts, particularly in family planning awareness campaigns, to expand the understanding of reproductive-aged couples regarding contraceptive methods and to provide comprehensive and accurate information regularly, disseminating family planning information consistently.

Abstract

The Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) is one of the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) targets in reducing the maternal mortality rate (AKI) to 70 per 100,000 live births by 2030. One of the causes of bleeding in the first and second trimesters of pregnancy is abortion. Several factors predispose to abortion, for example fetal factors, maternal factors, environmental factors, age, parity, occupation and history of abortion. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between maternal age, history of abortion and gestational spacing simultaneously with the incidence of imminent abortion at Palembang Muhammadiyah Hospital in 2022. The study design used an analytical survey with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study were all inpatient pregnant women who were recorded in the register book at the midwifery room at the Muhammadiyah Hospital in 2022, a total of 1150 pregnant women. The sampling technique in this study was carried out by systematic random sampling with a total sample of 92 respondents. Data collection uses a checklist sheet. Data analysis used univariate analysis and bivariate analysis using the chi square test. The results of the study showed that there was a relationship between maternal age (p value = 0.038), history of abortion (p value = 0.005) and the distance between pregnancies (p value = 0.015) with the incidence of imminent abortion at Muhammadiyah Palembang Hospital in 2022. It is hoped that the results of this study can be an illustration for the hospital to be able to further improve health services, especially dealing with cases of imminent abortion.
