Abstract

This study seeks to determine the impact of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model supplemented with higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) problems on the mathematical problem-solving skills of high school students. The research employs a quantitative approach, specifically through adopting a quasi-experimental method with a post-test-only non-equivalent control group design. The participants consist of 72 tenth-grade students, with half (36 students) exposed to the PBL model enriched with HOTS problems, and the other half exposed to the standard PBL model without HOTS problems. A descriptive test comprising five mathematical problem-solving items was administered to measure the impact. This test was rigorously validated by two professors from UHAMKA and further validated by students from another tenth-grade class. The data analysis was conducted using the Non-Parametric Mann-Whitney test. The findings suggest a noteworthy difference in mathematical problem-solving abilities between students instructed using the PBL model integrated with HOTS problems and those who did not.

Abstract

This article discusses the importance of critical thinking skills in career choices for grade 12 students at SMK Madya Manggala. The results of interviews and observations show that the majority of students have made decisions regarding their careers, but there are some who are still undecided. They are also able to distinguish fact from fiction, but have difficulty distinguishing relevant ideas from irrelevant ones. Observations also show that the majority of students have planned their decisions for their next career path, but there are still some who are unsure and have not prepared well. Class 12 students' career choices and career development depend on decision-making skills theory and decision-making models. By applying critical thinking skills, it is hoped that students can improve their ability to choose an appropriate career. This abstract discusses the importance of critical thinking skills in choosing careers for grade 12 students at SMK Madya Manggala. By applying critical thinking skills, it is hoped that students can improve their ability to choose an appropriate career.

Abstract

This study analyzes students' creative thinking skills in solving PISA questions involving spatial and geometric content. A descriptive qualitative approach was used, selecting three groups of students based on mathematical ability: high, medium, and low. Data were collected through tests, interviews, and documentation. The test consisted of three PISA items designed to assess students' creative thinking indicators: fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. The conclusions of this study show that students with high mathematical ability exhibit a high level of creative thinking, as evidenced by the fulfillment of all indicators: fluency, flexibility, elaboration, and originality. Students with moderate mathematical ability demonstrate limited or moderate creative thinking, fulfilling only the fluency and originality indicators, while elaboration and flexibility are not optimal. Students with low mathematical ability fulfill only the originality indicator, with low fluency and elaboration, and do not demonstrate flexibility.

Abstract

This research is significant in answering the challenges of increasingly sophisticated technology in creating worksheets using Geogebra software. This research aims to produce digital worksheet products using GeoGebra online based on students' geometric thinking levels that are valid and practical to use in teaching and learning processes in the classroom, both online and offline. The research method used in this study is research and development (Research and Development) with the ADDIE model. The ADDIE model has five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and eval__uation). The subjects of this research were students of the mathematics education study program for the 2021/2022 academic year. The instruments used were material and media expert validation sheets and student response sheets. The results of this study are digital worksheet products using GeoGebra Online based on students' geometric thinking levels that are valid and practical to use. Digital worksheets using GeoGebra online is an innovative use of technology that integrates student activity sheets.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of using nearpod media on numeracy abilities. This research uses a quasi-quantitative experimental method with a posttest-only control design. Subjects were taken using a purposive sampling technique with a total sample of 64. The instrument used was 5 questions which had been tested for validity and reliability and had been declared valid and reliable in the high category. Furthermore, the results of data analysis were carried out using SPSS 27. The test results using Kolmogorov Smirnov were declared normal with a value of 0.20 and the Levene statistics results were declared homogeneous with a value of 0.81. Then hypothesis testing was carried out and obtained significant results that there was an influence between the use of nearpod media and numeracy abilities. The effect size in this study was 0.57 with the criteria being moderate or quite influential. It is hoped that teachers in schools can also implement interactive learning, one of which is the use of nearpod media

Abstract

Students face significant difficulties in understanding the continuity of functions that produces learning obstacle. Therefore it is necessary to develop a didactical design to enhance the teaching process. Qualitative research in this study is Didactical Design Research (DDR). This study was conducted in Universitas Khairun. Participants consist of two groups of students. Data collection and analysis  1) Test in which the results of this will be analyzed descriptively 2) In-depth interviews guideline in this research was to confirm students' answers 3) A didactical design which is used to minimize the obstacle. The results show that the Initial learning obstacle is the student cannot choose which function to use to find the left and right limit values, the student knows well the 3 conditions for continuity of function, however, the student incorrectly solves the problem. There are also the students who didn't know the conditions for continuity of function 2) Didactical design is compiled based on Theory of Didactical Situation (TDS) 3) The impact of implementing the didactical design can provide an understanding of continuity of function, there are still learning obstacles that arise. Further research is needed to ensure that as few learning obstacle appear as possible. Keywords: Continuity of Function; Didactical Design; Didactical Design Research (DDR)

Abstract

Perkembangan media sosial mudah ditonton tanpa batas waktu dimana dan kapan saja, membuat kekhawatiran tersendiri dari orangtua terhadap perilaku sosial anak. Meningkatnya kasus pelecehan seksual, adalah salah satu dari begitu banyak dampak dari penggunaan media sosial. Salah satu cara untuk mencegah anak agar tidak mengalami pelecehan seksual adalah dengan memberikan pemahaman mengenai hal bersifat seksual kepada anak. Akan tetapi stigma tabu ketika membicarakan pendidikan seksual masih sangat melekat dalam masyarakat di Indonesia saat ini. Pihak yang berperan untuk memberikan pendidikan seksual adalah guru di sekolah. Pelatihan ini diikuti oleh guru sebanyak 7 orang dan anak didik kelas 5 sebanyak 33 siswa/siswi di SDN Susukan 09 Pagi, Jakarta Timur. Metode pengabdian ini adalah dalam bentuk ceramah dan diskusi, serta praktik mengggunakan aplikasi berbasis android berteknologi Augmented Reality (AR) ‘Pengenalan Anggota Tubuh’. Hasil dari metode kuesioner terhadap siswa/siswi mengalami kenaikan dari 50% menjadi 92.857%  dan guru dari 56.06%  menjadi 94.94%. Peningkatan kemampuan dalam menggunakan aplikasi oleh siswa/siswi sebesar 89%. Penggunaan teknologi AR pada media pembelajaran menjadikannya interaktif dan menarik, sehingga efektif dalam memberi pembelajaran kepada anak mengenai bagian-bagian tubuh yang pribadi serta cara melindungi dirinya dari ancaman pelecehan seksual.

Abstract

Abstrak Pada tahun 2022 kasus COVID-19 mengalami penurunan yang signifikan dibandingkan tahun 2021 sehingga menyebabkan berbagai lembaga baik sekolah maupun perguruan tinggi mempertimbangkan untuk dapat menyelenggarakan pembelajaran tatap muka. Pembelajaran hybrid merupakan model pembelajaran terkini di masa pandemi dan memadukan teknologi terkini. Pembelajaran daring kemudian dilanjutkan dengan metode konvensional (luring). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat efektivitas pembelajaran hybrid terhadap hasil belajar mahasiswa pada mata kuliah teori bilangan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian eksperimen semu. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh mahasiswa semester genap tahun ajaran 2021/2022. Sampel yang diambil berasal dari dua kelas dengan jumlah keseluruhan 35 mahasiswa. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah purposive sampling berdasarkan pertimbangan dosen teori bilangan, analisis data menggunakan software SPSS, dan menggunakan uji-t sampel independen. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan analisis data menggunakan SPSS, pembelajaran hybrid terhadap hasil belajar mahasiswa teori bilangan dengan menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional tidak efektif. Pembelajaran hybrid tidak dapat dijadikan model pembelajaran alternatif di era pasca pandemi COVID-19 karena pembelajaran hybrid tetap menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional, meskipun diawali dengan pemanfaatan teknologi seperti pembelajaran daring. Kata Kunci: Hasil belajar, Matematika, Teori Bilangan, Pembelajaran Hybrid.  Abstract In 2022, cases of the COVID-19 virus have significantly decreased compared to 2021, and this has caused various institutes, both schools and universities, to consider being able to learn face-to-face. Hybrid learning is the latest learning model during the pandemic and integrates the latest technology. Learning online and then continuing with conventional methods (offline). This research aims to see the effectiveness of hybrid learning on student learning outcomes in number theory. The research method used is quasi-experimental research. The population in this study were all even-semester students in the 2021/2022 semester 2. The samples taken were from two classes with 35 students. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling based on considering the number theory lecturer, data analysis using the Software SPSS, and using the independent sample t-test. Based on the results of data analysis calculations using SPSS, hybrid learning on number theory student learning outcomes using conventional learning is not effective. Hybrid learning cannot be used as an alternative learning model in the post-pandemic COVID-19 era because hybrid learning still uses conventional learning, even though it starts with using technology such as online learning. Abstract

This research is a preliminary study that aims to describe the algebraic thinking process of prospective mathematics teachers. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. Subjects were grouped into two categories based on high and low achievement motivation. Data is obtained based on the results of tests conducted in the algebra process. Research subjects (S1) and (S2) with high achievement motivation and subjects (S3) and (S4) with low achievement motivation using different algebraic thought processes. Subjects (S1) are able in the process of thinking algebra until crashing indicators assess understanding with understanding of the concept wrong in solving Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) problems, whereas, (S2) the process of thinking algebra is only capable of chunking information (pieces of information), (S3) able in the process of thinking algebra until indicators of change with wrong answers, and the subject (S4) is able in the process of thinking algebra only until chunking information (pieces of information). Factors that cause subjects S1, S2, S3, and S4 are still unable to solve HOTS questions in algebraic thinking processes are questions of knowledge on HOTS material and difficulty understanding concepts in working on algebra need special handling in improving understanding of concepts in algebra.

Abstract

Trigonometry is a part of mathematics in learning that is related to angles. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the application of discovery learning methods in students' mathematical proof ability on trigonometry. The research method used in this study is quasi-experimental. The population in this study was the second semester of 2016/2017. The sample was 66 people who were determined by purposive sampling. The instrument used in this study was a mathematically proof ability test. Analysis of the data used is the t-test. The results of this study are (1) based on an average score of mathematical proof ability The student's mathematical proof ability in applying the Discovery Learning Method to trigonometry is not higher than the mathematical proof ability of students who do not use the discovery method (2) there is no significant influence in the application of learning methods Discovery in students' mathematical proofs on trigonometry.
