Abstract

This study aims to describe the influence of irrational beliefs on loneliness in class VII MTSN 1 Tasikmalaya students. This research is a quantitative descriptive approach with a correlational design. The sample for this study amounted to 231 students of class VII MTSN 1 Tasikmalaya was taken using a simple random sampling technique. There are two instruments used in this study, UCLA Loneliness Scale Version 3 (20 items) and Attitude Belief Scale III (13 items). Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis and a simple linear regression. The findings for this study indicate that there is a significant influence between irrational beliefs on loneliness in teenagers at MTSN 1 Tasikmalaya. It can be said that irrational beliefs and loneliness have a fairly strong relationship, meaning that the higher the irrational beliefs, the higher the loneliness, and the lower the irrational beliefs, the lower the loneliness. Based on the results of this study, it is hoped that further research require treatment of students so that they have a rational mindset and have the right feelings, so that students can plan and carry out better, more productive and normative actions. One strategy that can be used to reduce loneliness is by providing guidance and counseling services with rational emotive behavior therapy based counseling with group counseling treatment.

Abstract

Abstract

Career choice is a crucial process in shaping students' future, especially at the lower secondary (SMP) and upper secondary (SMA/SMK) education levels. This study aims to provide an overview of students' career choices across Garut Kota District. Based on data collected from 794 respondents, it was found that 55% of SMP students have a social personality type and choose community service fields at 65%. Similarly, 64% of SMA students have a social personality type, with 75% choosing community service fields, and 67% of SMK students share the same personality type, with 77% opting for careers in community service. Factors such as external pressure, lack of career exploration, and limited understanding of interests and talents were identified as major obstacles. John L. Holland's RIASEC theory, which links personality types to work environments, was identified as a useful approach to help students understand their potential and align it with suitable career paths. This study recommends the importance of career guidance services at the SMP and SMA/SMK levels to map interests and talents while providing proper career direction. Such efforts can help students make well-informed career decisions that align with their individual potential.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of Person-Centered Expressive Art Therapy (PCEAT) counseling in improving the emotional well-being of students. Emotional well-being refers to individuals’ affective evaluation of their lives, consisting of positiveaffect and negative affect dimensions. The study employed a quantitative approach using a Single Subject Research (SSR) experimental design with an A-B-A pattern. The participants consisted of three students identified as having low levels of emotional well-being based on the Emotional Well-Being Scale (EWBS) developed by Şimşek (2011). The intervention was conducted through five counseling sessions based on expressive art activities to facilitate the expression and understanding of emotional experiences. Data were analyzed using visual analysis and the Percentage of Non-Overlapping Data (PND) technique to examine changes across baseline and intervention phases. The results indicated an increase in emotional well-being scores among all participants after the intervention. These findings suggest that Person-Centered Expressive Art Therapy is effective in enhancing students’ emotional well-being and can serve as an alternative counseling approach in Islamic boarding school settings.

Abstract

This study attempts to evaluate the Indonesian adaptation of the DASS-21, a scale adapted from Peter F. and Sydney H. Lovibond 1995 to assess levels of stress, anxiety, and depression. Multistage random sampling taking from 1478 Indonesian. Additionally, we use The Rasch measurement model to examine psychometric properties of DASS-21. The results indicate that the DASS-21 fulfills the psychometric measurement aspect by providing evidence as a valid and reliable instrument, with a very good item reliability value .99 and sufficient person reliability (.89), as well as a Cronbach alpha value KR-20.  of .91, meaning that the quality of the items is very good for revealing depression, anxiety, and stress. Furthermore, the results are reinforced by the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) value to the residual of 39.7%, meaning that the items in DASS-21 are representative for measuring depression, anxiety, and stress. Therefore, it can be said that the DASS-21 is valid and reliable for assessing the levels of stress, anxiety, and depression. The Indonesian translation of the DASS-21 constructs can also be used to assess the stress, anxiety, and depression levels.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: Mental well-being is a crucial component of university students’ academic functioning and personal development. However, empirical evidence describing students’ mental well-being levels, particularly in non-Western contexts, remains limited. This study aims to describe the level of mental well-being among university students at two higher education institutions in Indonesia. Methodology: This study employed a descriptive quantitative design. A total of 449 undergraduate students were selected using proportionate stratified random sampling from two universities with different student population characteristics. Data were collected using the Indonesian-adapted version of the Warwick–Edinburgh Mental Well-Being Scale (WEMWBS). Descriptive statistical analysis was conducted to examine the distribution of students’ mental well-being levels. Main Findings: These findings highlight the importance of strengthening preventive and promotive mental health initiatives in higher education settings. Campus-based interventions, such as mindfulness programs and counseling services, may play a strategic role in supporting students’ transition from moderate mental well-being toward flourishing. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study provides empirical insight into students’ mental well-being profiles within the Indonesian higher education context and offers practical implications for the development of guidance and counseling services.
