Abstract

Religious moderation has become increasingly relevant in diverse and pluralistic societies, particularly within academic settings where varying interpretations of religious teachings often emerge. This study highlights the growing need to explore and understand religious attitudes among students in the context of their social, cultural, and political influences. The study investigates students' perceptions and views regarding religious moderation by delving into critical issues such as the relationship between Pancasila and religion, the idea of a caliphate state, respect for state symbols, and attitudes toward violence. A quantitative survey approach involved 463 students selected through stratified random sampling from various study programs and semester levels. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire to assess students' perspectives on these controversial topics. The findings reveal a comprehensive picture of religious attitudes among students, emphasizing the importance of fostering religious moderation within academic environments. These results underline the necessity for effective educational strategies to promote understanding and respect for diverse beliefs while minimizing conflict. The study is significant for policymakers, educators, and practitioners because it offers insights into the dynamics of religious attitudes in higher education. Addressing religious moderation's complexities, these findings contribute to developing strategies that can support harmonious coexistence in pluralistic academic communities.

Abstract

This study is grounded in the need to improve students’ learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education (IRE), which are often hindered by monotonous teaching methods and limited student engagement. The objective of this research is to examine the effectiveness of the Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) method supported by question board media in enhancing students’ understanding and achievement. This study employed a quantitative approach using a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design, involving 25 twelfth-grade students. Data were collected through pretest and posttest assessments, classroom observations, and student questionnaires. The findings reveal a significant improvement in learning outcomes, as indicated by the increase in mean scores from 73.8 in the pretest to 90.2 in the posttest. Statistical analysis shows that the t-count (4.30) exceeds the t-table (2.06), confirming a significant difference after the intervention. Furthermore, the implementation of TSTS encourages active participation, collaboration, and critical thinking, while the question board media supports students in understanding abstract religious concepts. This study contributes to the development of innovative and interactive learning strategies in Islamic education by integrating cooperative learning models with visual media to optimize student engagement and comprehension.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of religious moderation values in Islamic religious higher education in Garut, West Java. The primary focus of the research includes the integration of religious moderation values in the curriculum, the role of lecturers and education staff, student perceptions, as well as obstacles and challenges in implementing these values. Through a qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis at several institutions, including STAI Musadaddiyah, STAI Muhammadiyah Garut, and STAI Siliwangi Garut. The results show that religious moderation is integrated through an Aswaja-based curriculum approach and rahmatan lil 'alamin, with lecturers and education personnel playing the role of facilitators in building tolerant and inclusive student characters. The main obstacles come from the influence of conservative ideologies, limited religious understanding among students, and challenges from social media.
