Abstract

Hydroponics wick system is a hydroponic system by utilizing the wick to absorb water and nutrients by utilizing capillarity power. This axis serves to connect the nutrient solution in the tub with planting medium. This study aims to : (1) determine the effect of the mix AB nutrient on plant growth in hydroponic lettuce; (2) determine the effect of Liquid Organic Fertilizer on plant growth in hydroponic lettuce; (3) the effect of substitution of hydroponic nutrient with a liquid organic fertilizer on plant growth in hydroponic lettuce. This study uses a completely randomized design with 5 treatments and repeated 4 times, resulting in 20 experimental units. The results showed : (1) administration of 5 ml/l A and 5 ml/l B gives the best results in growth of mustard plants; (2) provision of 3 ml/l A and 3 ml/l B + 100 ml/l POC also gave a good response to the growth of mustard plants; (3) administration of 2ml/l A and 2 ml/l B + 150 ml/l POC also gave a good response to the growth of mustard.

Abstract

Shallots hold a strategic position in Indonesia's food and agribusiness systems. This commodity has the potential to boost farmers' incomes and improve the well-being of rural communities, particularly in areas with high onion consumption. Shallot productivity at the farmer level shows significant variation between regions, even within the same region. Farmers' socioeconomic factors are believed to influence these differences in productivity. This study aims to analyze the socioeconomic factors that influence shallot productivity among farmers. The study was conducted in Pota Village, Sambi Rampas District, as it is the center of shallot production in East Manggarai Regency. This research is included in the quantitative approach design. A sample of 35 shallot farmers was taken using total sampling. The data were analyzed using a multiple linear regression model. The results showed that socioeconomic factors simultaneously had a significant effect on shallot productivity. Partially, socioeconomic factors such as land area, education level, and farming experience significantly influence shallot productivity. Meanwhile, farmer age and number of dependents in the family do not. The coefficient of determination indicated that shallot productivity in Pota Village was dominated by socioeconomic factors, accounting for 64.1%.

Abstract

The agricultural sector, especially horticulture, is a cornerstone of the Indonesian economy with great potential to improve farmers' welfare. However, adoption of modern farming methods remains a challenge, often leading to suboptimal yields. This study aims to analyze the impact of horticultural demonstration plots (demplots) on improving farmers' competency in Golo Village, Cibal District, Manggarai Regency. Conducted from May to June 2025, the study used a quantitative pre-test and post-test design with 60 farmers selected purposively from 250 participants. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, and structured interviews. Quantitative analysis measured competency enhancement and identified dominant factors using multiple regression, supported by qualitative analysis. Results showed high participation rates, especially during planning and implementation. Farmers' competency increased significantly: technical cultivation knowledge rose by 55% (low to high), practical skills by 30% (moderate to high), and innovative attitudes by 25% (moderate to high). Multiple regression revealed that quality of assistance was the most dominant factor (B=0.580, p<0.001). Other significant factors included demplot frequency (B=0.420), duration (B=0.315), and availability of facilities (B=0.150). These findings indicate that horticultural demplots effectively transfer knowledge and skills and foster innovative attitudes through experiential learning and high-quality mentoring.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The primary challenge faced by farmers in Beo Cepang Village is the low selling price of their products and limited access to quality nutrition due to heavy dependence on middlemen and a lack of understanding of modern marketing. This community service program aims to strengthen the economic capacity of farmers through the transformation of local rice marketing management. The implementation method was carried out in three systematic stages: preparation, execution, and evaluation. The main focus of the activities included the development of innovative marketing models through branding strategies, professional packaging standardization, and the optimization of digital platforms. The results of this program indicate a significant increase in product value and expanded market access for farmers. Furthermore, the establishment of independent business units under the auspices of farmer groups has successfully created a more equitable and sustainable local economic system. This economic empowerment indirectly strengthens the foundation of family nutritional security for farmers in Beo Cepang Village. Keywords: Rice Farmers, Local Economy, Nutritional Security
