Abstract

The coverage of exclusive breastfeeding at Puskesmas Tokorondo from 2018-2019 decreased from 50.8% to 28%. Lack of knowledge and intensive promotion of formula milk is one of the causes to low exclusive breastfeeding. The aim of this study was to discover the relationship between socio-economic factors and the level of knowledge of mothers about exclusive breastfeeding at the Puskesmas Tokorondo. This study using an analytical method with a cross-sectional approach. The number of population were 46 people that is mothers who have toddlers aged 6-12 months in the working area of Puskesmas Tokorondo. The sample in this study was 36 people, using consecutive sampling technique. Research shows that more exclusive breastfeeding is found on the low-educated mothers (60%), unemployed mothers (23.5%), high-income (50%), and well-informed (100%). There is a correlation between the knowledge level and exclusive breast-feeding (p= 0.001) while education (p= 0.217), work (p=1,000), and income (p= 0.436) has no relation to exclusive breast-feeding. It is hoped that health workers can be a source of information to the importance of exclusive breastfeeding for infant aged up to 6 months and after 6 months old. After six months, continued with the complementary feeding as well as continuing the breastfeed until the aged of 2 years, along with the support of the husband and particularly the family as an effort to increase the scope of exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

A mother's good knowledge about stunting is very important in preventing stunting in children. If a mother has enough knowledge about good nutrition, she can make the right decisions about the food to give to the child during the growth period, so that the child can grow well and avoid stunting problems. The goal of this activity is to increase the family's knowledge about stunting using a smart chart. This activity is carried out in Sangginora Village, Poso District, targeting families with children aged 0-23 months. The education media used is a smart chart containing 3 key messages: understanding, danger, and prevention of stunting. The results of the activity showed an increase in the mother's knowledge about stunting. The smart posters placed in the target houses allow for frequent reading by the mother and other family members. We recommend that the Family Support Team (TPK) of Sangginora Village attach the smart posters to new families in the First 1000 Days of Life (HPK).

Abstract

The exclusive breastfeeding coverage in Panca Makmur Village has not met the target. Based on a situation analysis from collected data, it was found that the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding in Panca Makmur Village was only 50.7%, while the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding in Dusun 3 was only 38.9%. The aim of this study was to educate pregnant women on the importance of exclusive breastfeeding. The intervention involved a pre-test followed by a snakes and ladders game and a post-test. The evaluation of the post-test questionnaire revealed an increase in pregnant women's knowledge. After the counseling activities, the proportion of participants with good knowledge of exclusive breastfeeding increased from 20% to 80%. These findings suggest that periodic counseling by the village midwife can improve awareness of exclusive breastfeeding among mothers who may not know its importance and may neglect their child's needs.
