Abstract

ABSTRAK Pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang dilakukan bertujuan untuk memberikan kontribusi kepada masyarakat Tejosari mengembangkan potensi yang ada melalui Kelompok Wanita Tani merawat dan membangun kebun KWT menjadi lebih terawat dan berinovasi. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilakukan di kelurahan Tejosari RT.21 RW.28 yang dijalankan bersama mahasiswa Universitas Muhammadiyah Metro dan warga RT 21. Terbatasnya gerak dan langkah masyarakat untuk merealisasikan kebun KWT maka kegiatan pengabdian ini merupakan pendampingan terhadap hal tersebut dengan melakukan inovasi untuk kebun KWT, agar kebun ini dapat menarik minat para masyarakat untuk bahu-membahu merawat dan melestarikan kebun. Metode yang kami gunakan yaitu melakukan penyusunan rencana kerja awal, identifikasi masalah dan sasaran serta pendampingan realisasi inovasi kebun KWT. Hasil dari pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang dilakukan oleh tim pengabdian adalah kesiapan kebun KWT untuk dikelola dan lebih menarik. Sehingga nantinya dapat dilakukan pendampingan lebih lanjut untuk dikembangkan agar kebun KWT dapat lebih bernilai ekonomis. Kata kunci: Tejosari, Pendampingan, KWT ABSTRACTThe community service that is carried out aims to contribute to the Tejosari community in developing existing potential through the Women Farmer Group caring for and building KWT gardens to become more well-maintained and innovative. This community service is carried out in the Tejosari sub-district RT.21 RW.28 which is run together with Muhammadiyah Metro University students and residents of RT 21. The community's movement and steps are limited in realizing the KWT garden, so this service activity is assistance in this regard by innovating for the KWT garden, so that this garden can attract the interest of the community to work together to care for and preserve the garden. The method we use is to prepare an initial work plan, identify problems and goals and assist the realization of KWT garden innovations. The result of the community service carried out by the service team is the readiness of the KWT gardens to be managed and more attractive. So that further assistance can be carried out later to be developed so that KWT plantations can have more economic value. Keywords: Tejosari, Assistance, KWT

Abstract

Muhammadiyah At-Tanwir Metro Middle School is a private school that is currently developing in Metro City. There is a need to increase student achievement in academic matters, especially science olympiads, Muhammadiyah At-Tanwir Metro Middle School has implemented olympiad guidance specifically for students who are talented in the field of science. Students' achievements in their respective science olympiads are very minimal, this is the focus point in the assistance we provide. The aim of accompanying the Olympics at Muhammadiyah At-Tanwir Metro Middle School is to maximize the students' training process. This Olympic guidance is a manifestation of the school's collaboration with the service team. The school considers that there is a need for development of the dedication for olympiad guidance that has been implemented, namely in aspects of science problem solving strategies that teachers and students themselves need to know. This problem solving strategy is important to support students in participating in the Science Olympiad. The expected output from this service activity is an Olympic material module based on the Polya strategy as well as notes on the results of developing Science Olympiad Material for Muhamamdiyah Middle School At-Tanwir Metro.

Abstract

This research investigated the engagement of fourth-grade students in Integrated Science and Social Studies (IPAS) learning at SDN 5 North Metro. Findings revealed that a significant majority of students (21 out of 25) exhibited high levels of engagement, characterized by enthusiastic participation, focused attention, and a strong desire to learn. These students demonstrated resilience in overcoming challenges, actively sought clarification, and displayed positive learning habits. The teacher played a crucial role in fostering student engagement through the implementation of diverse and engaging instructional strategies, including creative learning activities and a well-structured reward system. However, a small subset of students (4 out of 25) displayed lower levels of engagement, struggling with complex concepts and finding IPAS learning less interesting. This research highlights the importance of creating a dynamic and inclusive learning environment that caters to the diverse needs and learning styles of all students. Strategies such as connecting abstract concepts to real-world applications and incorporating more flexible learning approaches are crucial to enhance the engagement and understanding of all students in IPAS learning.

Abstract

This community‑service program implemented a project‑based art performance mentoring model for elementary students of SD 4 and SD 6 Metro Timur from 13 June to 13 July 2025. The one‑month program consisted of (1) needs analysis, (2) on‑site coaching clinics in each school, and (3) a culminating “Gelar Karya” showcase at Universitas Muhammadiyah Metro. Mixed‑method evaluation combining observation sheets, interviews, and a creativity rubric indicated (a) a 42 % increase in students’ self‑confidence scores, (b) improved collaboration between teachers and university mentors, and (c) the production of multidisciplinary artifacts (drama, books, local‑food products) aligned with the Merdeka Belajar framework. The model proves effective in cultivating 6C competencies and can be replicated in other schools with minimal cost.

Abstract

The consistently low national performance in science, particularly at the junior high level, highlights the urgent need for innovative approaches in Indonesian science education. Despite policy reforms such as the Indonesian Merdeka Curriculum, many science learning experiences remain abstract and disconnected from students’ daily lives, leading to low motivation and achievement. To address this gap, this study aimed to develop a science textbook model grounded in Lampung local wisdom to create more meaningful, contextualized, and engaging learning experiences. Employing a Research and Development (R&D) design, the study followed the ADDIE framework, which consists of the steps analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate. 30 eight-grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Batanghari, East Lampung, participated in a one-group pretest–posttest design. Validation by two science education experts rated the textbook as “very good,” confirming the product’s quality and curricular relevance. Statistical analysis revealed a significant improvement in learning outcomes, with a mean gain of 10.46 points and a significance value of 0.000, while classroom observations indicated increased engagement, enthusiasm, and cultural pride. The novelty of this study lies in the systematic mapping of Lampung’s cultural practices directly onto science concepts, such as tapis weaving, traditional games, and piil pesenggiri values, thereby bridging the gap between scientific knowledge and cultural identity. In conclusion, the research demonstrates that integrating local wisdom into science education enhances both learning achievement and cultural relevance. This study contributes to the field of physics education by providing empirical evidence and a replicable framework for a culturally responsive science curriculum, and offers significant implications for teachers, curriculum developers, and policymakers.

Abstract

Rendahnya kemampuan literasi dan numerasi siswa Sekolah Dasar di Kota Metro menjadi masalah yang membutuhkan penanganan segera. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan literasi dan numerasi melalui pelatihan dan pendampingan guru menggunakan model Lesson Study Learning Community (LSLC) dengan fokus pada pemanfaatan buku bacaan bermutu. Kegiatan dilaksanakan di 12 Sekolah Dasar dengan capaian literasi dan numerasi rendah. Metode yang digunakan meliputi sosialisasi, pelatihan intensif guru, pelaksanaan lesson study dalam tiga siklus pembelajaran, serta refleksi dan replikasi praktik baik. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, angket, dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pelaksanaan pembelajaran dan keterlibatan siswa dari siklus pertama ke siklus berikutnya. Guru melaporkan peningkatan kemampuan profesional dan kesiapan dalam mengintegrasikan buku bacaan bermutu, sementara siswa menunjukkan peningkatan motivasi belajar serta kemampuan berpikir kritis dan numerik. Pengabdian ini membuktikan bahwa penerapan model LSLC yang terintegrasi dengan pemanfaatan buku berkualitas efektif dalam memperkuat budaya literasi dan numerasi di sekolah dasar, sekaligus meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran secara berkelanjutan. Implikasi dari kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi rujukan bagi sekolah lain dalam pengembangan pembelajaran berbasis literasi dan numerasi.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept of literacy integration in thematic learning within the Independent Curriculum in elementary schools. The method used is a literature study by reviewing various literature sources related to literacy, thematic learning, and the implementation of the Independent Curriculum. The analysis results indicate that literacy integration in thematic learning can improve reading, writing, critical thinking, and conceptual understanding skills holistically. The project-based learning and real-life context offered by the Independent Curriculum support literacy strengthening through reading, discussion, and presentation activities. However, literacy integration is not optimal due to limited teacher competency, minimal reading facilities, and a low student literacy culture. This study recommends strengthening teacher training, providing digital and print-based literacy media, and collaboration between parents and schools in building a culture of literacy from an early age.

Abstract

Dyslexia is a specific learning disability that originates from neurological factors and significantly impacts a person's reading ability. This study aims to describe the application of multisensory methods to improve the reading ability of students with dyslexia. The study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. This article was written to explain the effectiveness of multisensory methods in helping improve the reading ability of students with dyslexia in elementary school. Students with dyslexia require learning strategies that can activate all senses in the process of recognizing and understanding learning materials, making the multisensory method a relevant approach. Through this method, students learn by involving visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile memory in an integrated manner. The results of the study indicate that the multisensory method has been proven to improve the reading ability of students with dyslexia characteristics in elementary school and can be used as an alternative treatment to overcome learning barriers experienced by dyslexic students.
