Abstract

Background: Medical education aims to create professional doctors through standardized methods according to the needs of public health services. A doctor must have a professional attitude and ability as a form of professional responsibility. Professionalism is often associated with professional identity, where professionalism is deemed necessary to be supported by professional identity. This study aims to determine the relationship between perceptions of professional identity and medical students’ professionalism level.Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in a faculty of medicine in Indonesia.  The respondents were medical students from 3 cohorts: 2019, 2020, and 2021. The data analysis used the Spearman correlation test.Results: A total of 276 respondents consist of 94 (34.1%) male and 182 (65.9%) female respondents. The mean scores for the professionalism level for batches 2019, 2020, and 2021, respectively, were 160.23, 160.83, and 162.07. The mean scores for the perception of professional identity for batches 2019, 2020, and 2021, respectively, were 86.89, 89.26, and 89.18. The Spearman correlation test results showed there was a relationship between the professionalism level and perceptions of professional identity (p <0.001; r = 0,508), but there was no relationship between the professionalism level and study period (p = 0.081; r = -0.105).Conclusion: There is a relationship between perceptions of professional identity and the professionalism level of medical students.

Abstract

Pendahuluan: Empati merupakan sesuatu yang sangat penting dimiliki oleh seorang dokter karena dapat membantu dalam membangun komunikasi dengan pasien. Empati dipengaruhi oleh banyak hal, salah satunya lingkungan belajar. Beberapa penelitian telah menunjukkan terdapat hubungan antara empati dan lingkungan belajar. Akan tetapi, belum ada penelitian serupa yang dilakukan di Fakultas Kedokteran UNS.Tujuan penelitian: Untuk mengetahui adanya hubungan antara persepsi lingkungan belajar dan empati yang dimiliki mahasiswa kedokteran UNS. Metode: Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan pendekatan cross sectional dimana sampel terdiri dari mahasiswa kedokteran FK UNS angkatan 2018, 2019, dan 2020 yang diperoleh dengan cara stratified random sampling dan dihitung dengan Rumus Slovin pada bulan Agustus hingga November 2021. Instrumen yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah kuesioner DREEM dan JSPE-S. Hasil: Pada penelitian ini didapatkan terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara persepsi lingkungan belajar dan empati pada mahasiswa kedokteran FK UNS dengan kekuatan korelasi lemah. Berdasarkan hasil uji korelasi Spearman Rank didapatkan nilai korelasi (p) sebesar 0,001 (α = 0,05). Selain itu, aspek lingkungan belajar yang memiliki hubungan signifikan dengan empati mahasiswa adalah Learning, Teachers, Academic, dan Atmosphere. Kesimpulan: Terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara persepsi lingkungan belajar dan empati mahasiswa kedokteran FK UNS.

Abstract

Pendahuluan: Refleksi merupakan salah satu metode yang digunakan untuk mengajarkan profesionalisme kepada mahasiswa kedokteran. Kemampuan refleksi sangat penting untuk proses pembelajaran sepanjang hayat sebagaimana tercantum dalam Standar Kompetensi Dokter Indonesia 2012. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hubungan antara tulisan refleksi (writing spectrum) dan nilai course basic medical profesionalism mahasiswa kedokteran UNS dan mengetahui tingkat pemahaman mahasiswa FK UNS mengenai profesionalitas tenaga medis. Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian observasional analitik dengan pendekatan studi cross sectional yang dilaksanakan di Program Studi Kedokteran Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta. Sampel dari penelitian ini adalah 66 mahasiswa yang termasuk kedalam kriteria inklusi. Sampel diambil dengan teknik probability sampling jenis simple random sampling. Variable terikat adalah nilai course basic medical professionalism dan variable bebas adalah kedalaman refleksi (writing spectrum). Data tulisan refleksi didapatkan dari pengisian kuisioner skala kedalaman refleksi (REFLECT) dan data nilai course basic medical professionalism diperoleh dari KBK FK UNS. Data kemudian akan dihitung menggunakan software SPSS dan dianalisis menggunakan uji korelasi Spearman. Hasil: Mayoritas level writing spectrum mahasiswa kedokteran berada pada tingkat 3( reflection). Hasil uji korelasi spearman didapatkan nilai p 0,039 yang bermakna terdapat hubungan antara kemampuan tulisan refleksi (writing spectrum) dengan nilai basic medical profesionalism course dengan kekuatan korelasi yang rendah dan arah positif. Kesimpulan: Terdapat hubungan tulisan refleksi (writing spectrum) dan nilai course basic medical profesionalism mahasiswa kedokteran UNS.

Abstract

Background: Patient safety is a critical priority in healthcare, aiming to prevent harm and ensure optimal care delivery. Despite the inherent risks in health services, the 'to err is human' paradigm suggests that errors often stem from systemic issues rather than individual failings. Effective patient safety relies heavily on improved system design and the education of healthcare professionals with a focus on safety readiness. Integrating patient safety education into interprofessional education (IPE) frameworks is essential for fostering effective communication and teamwork, which are crucial for reducing structural system errors and enhancing care quality.Aims: To map the research landscape on patient safety and IPE, examining trends, countries, and thematic relationships within the field specifically focusing on how IPE addresses structural system errors in patient safetyMethods: This study conducts a bibliometric analysis using VOS viewer software, the analysis covers publications from January 2000 to July 2024, focusing on data from SCOPUS.Results: Results reveal a growing body of research on patient safety with IPE, highlighting notable simulation-based training and interprofessional collaboration trends. The analysis demonstrates an evolution from individual-focused approaches to system-based interventions. However, there is a clear need for more systematic and culturally nuanced studies, particularly in Southeast Asia, where research is limited.Conclusion: The findings underscore the importance of incorporating patient safety principles within IPE curricula and highlight research gaps, especially in contexts such as Indonesia and other Southeast Asian countries. Future research should address these gaps, explore the impact of IPE on structural system errors across diverse settings, and foster international collaboration to standardize and enhance educational practices in healthcare.
