Abstract

The proportion of dental and oral problems in Banjar Regency is 52.29%, indicating that dental and oral health problems in South Kalimantan Province, especially in Banjar Regency, are still very high. Oral and dental health is often ignored and is not a top priority in health matters, especially for elementary school children. This research aims to find out differences in counseling about dental and oral health knowledge using the game media dental monopoly with ‘ular tangga’ in class II and III students at Pasayangan II Elementary School, Martapura District, Banjar Regency. Type of research with experiments pseudo research using two group pretest-posttest design. The research sample was 37 students in class II and III, taken sample using total sampling technique. The results showed the average value of knowledge before counseling using the dental monopoly game media was 10.26 and after that was 12.42. Meanwhile, the average value of knowledge before counseling using the ‘ular tangga’ game media was 9.83 and after that was 12.00. The research result used the Independent Sample T-test obtained ρ=0.985 > α=0.05 so that Ho is accepted and Ha is rejected. Conclusion, there was no difference in counseling about dental and oral health knowledge using the game media dental monopoly with ‘ular tangga’ in class II and III students at Pasayangan II Elementary School, Martapura District, Banjar Regency. Suggestion, there needs to be continuous promotive activities such as counseling using the interesting game media in order to help students understand dental and oral health problems

Abstract

One way to minimize the morbidity rate that occurs is through preventive measures carried out by promoting health since school age children. The results of the 2018 Central Kalimantan Riskesdas showed that the proportion of dental health problems was 42.58%. This study aims to determine whether there is an effect of counseling with three-dimensional diorama media on the knowledge of brushing teeth of students at State Elementary School 5 Menteng Palangka Raya. The method used is quasi-experimental research. With a one group pre-test post-test design approach. The population is all students of State Elementary School 5 Menteng Palangka Raya with a total of 113 people, the sample was taken by purposive sampling with the number of samples in this study being students aged 7-9 years, which is 42 people. The results of the Paired Sample T-test statistical test found a mean difference (average difference) of 3.14, with a known t-value of 18.995, the ρ value (probability value) of the test shows ρ = 0.000, so it is smaller than α 0.05 or (ρ = 0.000 <α 0.05). Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence of counseling using three-dimensional diorama media on knowledge of brushing teeth at State Elementary School 5 Menteng Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan Province

Abstract

Based on the 2018 Riskesdas, the problem of damaged, decayed and diseased teeth in South Kalimantan has a rate of 46.9%, missing teeth due to extraction or self-dropping amounted to 17.8%, loose teeth amounted to 8.7%, and teeth have been patched / filled at 7.0%. In the Banjarbaru City area, oral health problems amounted to 33.4%. This study aims to determine the effect of gargling carrot juice on reducing plaque scores in 10-year-old children of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Sullamul Khairiyah Kota Banjarbaru. This type of research is experimental research, pseudo experimental research design with one group pretest posttest and sampling by total sampling with a total of 45 students. Analysis of statistical test data using Paired Sample T-Test. The results of the research plaque score before gargling carrot juice obtained 2.90 and after gargling carrot juice obtained 1.13. Based on the results of the Paired Sample T-Test Test, it is known that the value of ???? = 0.000 is smaller than α (0.05) or ???? < α, in other words Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. The conclusion is that there is an effect of gargling carrot juice on reducing plaque scores in 10-year-old children of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Sullamul Khairiyah Kota Banjarbaru. It is recommended for Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Sullamul Khairiyah students and teachers to be able to use carrot juice as an alternative mouthwash to reduce plaque on the teeth.

This was done with the subject in as much as 50 pregnant women. The sample used a purposive sampling technique. Data were tested using intraclass correlation coefficient and paired sample test. The results show that Primary Health Center cadre training is effective in improving the dental and oral hygiene action in pregnant women.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is one of the leading chronic diseases causing high mortality in Indonesia. Based on the 2018 Riskesdas report, the prevalence of DM reached 8.5%. Patients with DM are more susceptible to oral health problems, including gingivitis. This study aimed to determine the effect of home care dental and oral nursing care on reducing gingivitis scores among DM patients in the Sungai Tabuk Community Health Center Work Area, Banjar Regency. The study used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest approach. Samples were selected through incidental sampling for one month with a total of 30 respondents. The findings showed a significant reduction in gingivitis scores after the intervention, with an average decrease of 0.8280. Statistical analysis revealed a significance value (Sig 2-tailed) of 0.000, which is lower than α (0.05). Thus, Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted, indicating that home care dental and oral nursing care had a positive effect in reducing gingivitis scores among DM patients. In conclusion, home care interventions are effective in improving gingival health for individuals with DM. It is recommended that Sungai Tabuk Community Health Center integrate home care dental and oral nursing care delivered by dental therapists as part of its community dental health program

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the physical, chemical, biological, stability, and clinical effects of aloe vera (Aloe barbadensis) instant powder on pregnant women. The research involved formulating the powder, assessing its physical properties (flow time, dwell angle, compressibility index), and conducting chemical analysis (phytochemical screening). Microbial contamination was tested using the Most Probable Number and Total Plate Count methods, and stability was assessed over two months. Clinical trials were conducted with two groups: one receiving the aloe vera instant powder and the other receiving calcium supplements (positive control), each consisting of 5 pregnant women for 10 days. The results showed that the powder had a flow time of 8.63 seconds, a dwell angle of 34.33°, and a compressibility index of 7.70%. Chemical screening revealed the presence of flavonoids, phenolics, tannins, saponins, steroids, and interquinones. No microbial contamination was detected, and the powder remained stable. Clinical trials showed a significant increase in red and white blood cells, hemoglobin, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium levels in the group receiving the aloe vera instant powder. In conclusion, aloe vera instant powder is stable and enhances hematological parameters and mineral levels in pregnant women.
