Abstract

Covid-19 sufferers is often associated with coagulation disorders. Increased coagulation activation is caused by hyper inflammation and cytokine stormtriggered by the virus. This condition can cause venous thromboembolism. Tthe parameters ofcoagulation disorders is D-Dimer. This study aims to determine the results of D-Dimer examination in covid-19 sufferers. This type of research is a observational analitics study with a total of 150 research samples. The collection and examination of samples was carried out at the Clinical Pathology Laboratory of the Hasanuddin University State University Hospital in Makassar on May9th to June 6th, 2022. The results showed that the increased D-Dimer examination was obtained by 75 samples (50%) and the results of normal examinations as many as 75 samples (50%). Based on these results, it can be concluded that the D-Dimer levelssame as normal value. Keywords : Covid-19, D-Dimer, Makassar

Abstract

Diabetic nephropathy is a complication that occurs in Diabetes Mellitus (DM) sufferers which is characterized by a decrease in kidney function. Current laboratory examination biomarkers to determine the condition of kidney function that are often carried out in the laboratory include examination of urea, creatinine, and urine protein. One way that can be done to determine blood glucose control is through HbA1c examination. This study aims to see the correlation between the results of kidney function biomarker examinations (urea, creatinine, and urine protein) in DM sufferers in terms of length of suffering (<5 years, 5-10 years, 11-16 years, and >16 years), as well as the results HbA1c examination. This research uses a correlative research method with an approach cross sectional analytically, the number of samples was 90 samples that met the research inclusion criteria. Sample collection and examination was carried out at the Clinical Pathology Laboratory of Hasanuddin University Hospital, Makassar from 8 to 15 May 2023. The research results showed that there was a significant relationship between the results of urine protein examination with a value of p=0.018 (p<0.05) and the duration of suffering and the results of the HbA1c examination in DM sufferers, and there was no significant relationship between the results of the urea examination p=0.352 (p>0.05) and creatinine p=0.116 (p>0.05) with the length of suffering and the results of the HbA1c examination in DM sufferers, so it can be concluded that urine protein is a potential biomarker in laboratory examinations to see the risk of complications of kidney damage in DM sufferers. It is recommended that DM sufferers carry out regular kidney function checks to reduce the risk of complications in the long term. Keywords: Creatinine, Diabetes Mellitus, HbA1c, Urea, Urine Protein

Abstract

Abstract

Dengue fever carries a risk of developing dengue shock syndrome, which can be fatal if not diagnosed and treated promptly. In addition to taking a medical history and performing a physical examination, laboratory tests are required. Laboratory tests that can be conducted include dengue NS1 testing, dengue IgG and IgM testing, and platelet count and platelet index measurements. This study aims to determine the correlation between NS1 and dengue IgG IgM test results and total platelet count and platelet indices (MPV, PDW, P-LCR, and PCT) in patients with dengue fever. This study is a correlational study using a cross-sectional analytical approach, employing purposive sampling techniques, and obtained 40 samples that met the study criteria. The study was conducted at the Clinical Pathology Laboratory of Hasanuddin University Hospital in Makassar from December 1, 2024, to February 28, 2025. The results of the study showed that there was a significant correlation between dengue IgG test results and total platelet count (p=0.032, p<0.05) and PDW (p=0.031, p<0.05), while there was no significant correlation with PCT test results (p=0.788, p>0.05). For dengue IgM and NS1 dengue test results, no significant correlation was found with total platelet count (p=0.565, p=0.624, p>0.05), PDW (p=0.728, p=0.188, p>0.05), and PCT (p=0.841, p=0.454 (p > 0.05). The results of MPV and P-LCR tests showed consistent results, so no statistical analysis was performed. It was concluded that total platelet count and platelet index PDW could serve as potential laboratory biomarkers for screening, diagnosis, and monitoring of dengue-infected patients based on dengue IgG test results. Abstract

Typical Sinjai Drink (MINAS) is made from fermented cassava, which contains alcohol of the ethanol type. Excessive alcohol consumption can lead to health problems, even death. Milk has protein and fat content that can reduce alcohol levels. This study aims to see the results of the examination of alcohol levels in MINAS based on the addition of milk and without milk. This type of research is an analytical observational with a cross section approach, the number of samples obtained in this study were 16 samples, namely 8 samples from seller A and 8 samples from seller B, each of the 8 seller samples included 4 samples with added milk and 4 samples without added milk that met the inclusion criteria in this study. The place of sample collection was carried out in Lappa Village, Sinjai Regency and sample examination was carried out at the Makassar Health Laboratory Center, South Sulawesi on 04-09 May 2023. The results showed that the average alcohol content of MINAS seller A without milk (1.6%) and milk addition (1.5%). The average alcohol content of MINAS seller B without milk (1.9%) and milk addition (1.7%). So it can be concluded that the alcohol content of MINAS with added milk is lower than MINAS without added milk, and it can be suggested for further researchers to pay attention to other factors that can affect the results of alcohol content examination.
