Abstract

The objective of this research is to identify and analyze the magnitude of probability of default in Indonesian banks in the period of 2007-2021 using macroeconomic stress testing based on the severely adverse scenario simulation coming from macroeconomic variable shocks. This quantitative deductive research use multiple linear regression. The independent variables are real GDP growth, inflation, interest rate, and world oil price, while the dependent variable is probability of default that is proxied by net NPL. The stress test used in this study includes sensitivity testing amd hypothetical scenario testing. Using Bank BRI, Bank Mandiri, and Bank BCA as the sample, this research produces different effects and magnitudes in the probability of default of BUKU IV banks, in which the said probability in the overall shows sensitive results in the event of macroeconomics variable shocks. In addition, the results of the study show that the real GDP variable and world oil prices have a negative and significant effect on the probability of default of Bank BRI, Bank Mandiri, and Bank BCA, then the exchange rate variable has a positive and significant effect on the probability of default of Bank BRI, Bank Mandiri. , and Bank BCA. While the inflation variable has a positive and insignificant effect on the probability of default of Bank BRI, Bank Mandiri, and Bank BCA. The last variable, namely interest rates, has a positive and insignificant effect on Bank BRI and Bank BCA, but has a significant effect on Bank Mandiri.

Abstract

Monetary policy is one of the important components in an economic system whose conditions are always uncertain. One of the most important objectives of monetary policy is to maintain price stability for goods and services. Price volatility, which is manifested as inflation, can have a bad long-term impact on the national economy if it is not controlled properly. Therefore, it is important to control inflation to maintain a healthy economic climate. A low and stable inflation rate is important for long-term economic growth. Monetary policy instruments that can maintain price stability include the money supply, interest rates and exchange rates. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the effect of JUB, interest rates and exchange rates on the inflation rate through path analysis method. Path analysis method is used to see the direct and indirect effect of the money supply on inflation through interest rates and exchange rates as intervening variables. The results showed that the money supply and exchange rate directly did not have a significant effect on the inflation rate. Meanwhile, interest rates have a significant direct effect on inflation. Indirectly, only interest rates have a role in mediating the relationship between the money supply and the inflation rate. Keywords: monetary policy; inflation; money supply; interest rate; exchange rate; path analysis

Abstract

Inflation is one of the references that can be used as a tool to measure or see the economic stability of a country. To maintain stability from inflation, it is necessary to implement monetary policy. This study intends to determine the effect of variables that can affect inflation in Indonesia in 2009-2019. The main variables used in this study are the money supply, interest rates, exchange rates and domestic oil prices due to the finding of gaps between factual data and theory in these variables. The method used is the Partial Adjustment Model (PAM). The results of this study indicate that the money supply, exchange rate, and domestic oil prices have no significant effect on inflation in Indonesia in 2009-2019. Meanwhile, interest rates have a positive and significant impact on inflation in Indonesia in 2009-2019.

Abstract

Banking companies are engaged in the financial sector which tend to pose a high risk in their operational activities than other companies in different sectors. If the risks arising from the operational activities of bank companies are not managed properly, then this can lead to bank failure problems that can threaten the country's monetary stability. In this paper, the authors aim to formulate a financial distress prediction model to identifying and predicting conventional bank companies that will experience financial distress problems. To achieve this goal, the authors use the discriminant analysis method by using 8 independent variables that represent each RGEC component such as NPL, Cash Ratio, Managerial Ownership, Institutional Ownership, Proportion of Independent Commissioners, ROA, NIM and CAR to the financial distress as the dependent variable with a nominal scale. Based on the test results, the authors found that there were 4 independent variables that were able to predict financial distress like NPL, Cash Ratio, ROA and NIM with an accuracy of 95.83%, where this value met the validation requirements in discriminant analysis and could be used to predict financial distress in other conventional bank companies.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology has transformed consumer behavior, leading to an increase in impulsive buying, particularly among the younger generation. This study explores the role of celebrity endorsements in driving impulsive online purchasing among female university students, focusing on how the bandwagon effect, hedonic value, and utilitarian value influence the urge to buy cosmetics impulsively. This study employed explanatory research utilizing a quantitative approach, focusing on 190 female students who actively engage with social media and follow internet celebrities. Data were collected through an online questionnaire distributed via social media. Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) was applied for data analysis. The findings reveal that the bandwagon effect directly enhances the urge to buy impulsively and strengthens the influence of both hedonic and utilitarian values on impulsive purchasing behavior. Additionally, hedonic and utilitarian values positively affect the bandwagon effect and the urge to buy impulsively. The emotional connection with celebrities and the perceived credibility of endorsed products are key drivers of impulsive purchases. This research contributes a deeper understanding of the psychological and social factors influencing impulsive buying in the digital age.

Abstract

Inflation is a indicator which illustrated the economics condition of a country. This moneter phenomenom is signed with the increase of price in entire case. It can cause an effect for political sector which impact to economic stability in a nation. The importance of inflation control is very important due to the high and unstable of inflation will cause negative impact  to economic and social in society.  One of the solutions to control the inflation rate is predicting the inflation rate. This research using SVR as machine learning that is being optimized by GA as evolutionary agorithm as predicting method. SVR can solve nonlinear regression problems to linear regression using Kernel function that easy to implement. But, in SVR there is no general rule to set the parameters of SVR. Therefore, this research proposed to use GA to optimize the parameters of SVR. GA can solve the optimization problems in various research of economics prediction problem. Based on the testing that has been conducted, GA-SVR generate the MSE value is 0.03767, lower than SVR basic method is 0.053158. It proves that GA-SVR method can be utilized for predicting.

Abstract

The idea of sustainability was risen according to climate change since the beginning of industrialization in the 18th century. As consequence, the effect will be physical disasters that lead to disadvantages for businesses. The role of banking as an intermediary makes it an agent of trust. Thus, the proper business conduct of its practice is an obligation. Attempts for green finance can be seen by the SRI KEHATI index which has the 25 most favorable issuers that mostly apply ESG criteria. This study conducts an analysis of KBMI 4 banks and then analyze the relation of ESG score compared to the financial performance, i.e NPM, ROA, and ROE from the 2017 to 2021 periods. The result shows that there is a correlation between the performance indicated by the ESG score to the financial performance of each issuer. The results showed that ESG and NPM, ROA, and ROE do not have significant relation. It was because there was no direct correlation between the ESG and the independent variables. Both, ESG and independent variables are indicators of a company’s performance. Needs further study to connect those two to find how strong the scoring is affecting a company’s performance, especially in the profitability ratio.
