Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas tentang hasil penelitian tindakan kelas yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pembelajaran Nahwu melalui kombinasi strategi pembelajaran mind map elektronik dan konvensional. Permasalahan yang diangkat dalam penelitian ini adalah rendahnya pemahaman siswa terhadap materi Nahwu. Sebelum intervensi, tingkat kelulusan siswa hanya 55%. Kombinasi strategi pembelajaran pemetaan pikiran elektronik dan konvensional dirancang dan diterapkan di kelas untuk mengatasi masalah ini. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas, yang melibatkan sekelompok siswa dalam proses pembelajaran yang berkesinambungan selama beberapa siklus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi pembelajaran mind map secara elektronik dan konvensional meningkatkan pemahaman siswa terhadap materi Nahwu secara signifikan. Peningkatan tersebut terlihat dari tingkat penyelesaian yang meningkat menjadi 81% pada Siklus I dan 90% pada Siklus II. Siswa menunjukkan peningkatan dalam kemampuan mereka untuk mengidentifikasi dan menerapkan aturan Nahwu. Selain itu, mereka menunjukkan peningkatan dalam keterampilan komunikasi lisan dan tertulis dalam bahasa Arab. Oleh karena itu, kombinasi strategi pembelajaran mind map elektronik dan konvensional dapat menjadi pendekatan yang efektif untuk meningkatkan pembelajaran Nahwu. Temuan penelitian ini memberikan wawasan berharga bagi para pendidik yang ingin meningkatkan kualitas Nahwu.

Abstract

This study aims to describe types of meanings and identify the semantic relations of place names, as well as explains the migration in Minangkabau on the West Coast of Sumatra. A qualitative research was used where sources of data were taken from interview, Focus Group Discussion (FGD), and documents. The interview and FGD were conducted to society figures, community leaders and government officials. The documents include the names of 22 sub-districts in 11 districts from four provinces, written sources, and other relics related to the names. The findings show that the place names provide knowledge about the relations of the meaning and socio-cultural values. The relation among the meanings of the place names includes synonymy and antonym that reflects the migration of Minangkabau in West Coast of Sumatra. The results also indicated that toponymy studies are very important because the naming of places has not received attention among the communities and has not been a study of interest.

Abstract

Education in Minangkabau is fundamental in relation to women and their role in all aspects of life, especially because the Minangkabau people, the largest ethnic group in West Sumatra, adhere to a material-lineal kinship system. This article aims to describe education and women represented by local media in West Sumatra. Data was collected using documentation techniques, interviews and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs). Documentation techniques are used to obtain lingual data, while interview and FGD techniques are used to collect data related to the information on the news production process. Data were analyzed by using the Sara Mills framework. The results of the research show that forms of representation of women in mass media can be classified into 13 thematic clusters based on specifications of the substance of the news and the point of view of the writing. The West Sumatra’s mass media represents women more as subjects than as objects. In various forms of reporting, women are represented as independent, warriors and achievers in the field of education. This finding refutes the claim that women are the second class and indicates that West Sumatra media reporting is classified as a gender responsive reporting.

Abstract

Translation activities are often carried out by generation z in the field of education, generation z translates Arabic texts or books related to the material they are studying, so that it is easier to understand the material. However, the translation process does not always run smoothly. There are several problems they face when translating. This research was conducted to identify the difficulties faced by Generation Z when translating. This research uses a qualitative approach with analytical methods. The research subjects here are generation Z who are learning to translate. The author uses a questionnaire to find out the data and analyzes it using descriptive analysis. The results of this research are that there are problems translating Arabic texts for generation z in the Arabic language education study program. Penpen is influenced by linguistic and non-linguistic aspects. This research is motivated by the fact that generation Z is experiencing difficulties, one of which is a lack of understanding of the rules of the Nahwu. Mastering Arabic grammar and morphology is very important in learning the Arabic language, especially in translating it into other languages, so that there is an equal understanding of the meaning.

Abstract

Novel merupakan salah satu jenis karya sastra yang dijadikan media untuk merefleksikan gambaran sosial yang terjadi di masyarakat. Sastrawan Mesir, Najib Mahfudz cukup banyak menulis karya-karya yang menyinggung soal realitas masyarakat di Mesir, salah satunya adalah mengenai kekuasaan. Novel al-Karnak karya Najib Mahfudz adalah karya memorial yang menggambarkan situasi dan kehidupan sosial serta sejarah Mesir di akhir 1960-an. Dalam novel al-Karnak disampaikan adanya gugatan dan kegusaran penulis terhadap praktik pemerintah yang sedang berjalan. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, penelitian ini membahas mengenai representasi kekuasaan dalam novel al-Karnak menggunakan analisis wacana Michel Foucault. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori analisis wacana kritis Michel Foucault. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan menjelaskan data penelitiannya secara deskriptif. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa dalam novel al-Karnak terdapat representasi kekuasaan yang terjadi di Mesir, salah satunya potret kekacauan dan ketidaknyamanan masyarakat Mesir di akhir tahun 1960-an, lalu sikap otoriter pemerintah Mesir akibat berbeda faham politik. Penyebaran wacana kekuasaan melalui budaya dan nilai-nilai Islam dan membuat agama memainkan peran yang lebih besar. Tujuannya adalah memperoleh dukungan politik dari massa Mesir. Penguasa melakukan pendisplinan dan hukuman penjara untuk membuat individu patuh dan takut, seperti yang dialami tokoh Hilmi Hamada, Ismail al-Syekh, dan Zainab Diyab. Akibat penyebaran wacana sosialisme mengakibatkan wacana lain terpinggirkan, seperti demokrasi dan kebebasan.

Abstract

AbstractArabic intensive Program is important to improve the quality of foreign language ability for UIN Imam Bonjol students. The planning, implementing and evaluating the process of the Arabic Intensive Program needs to be addressed and improved from various aspects. Thus, the study aims to identify appropriate policies to improve the management of the Intensive Arabic Language program, to develop Arabic language competency standards based on an analysis of the real conditions of the main components and program supporters, and to formulate the standard to improve the quality of Arabic Intensive Programs at UIN Imam Bonjol, Padang. This study used a qualitative approach where the data taken from interviews, documentation and focus group discussion. Data sources are managers, lecturers, and students participating in Arabic Intensive Program. The results of the study showed that the Arabic programs need appropriate policies to overcome the obstacles and problems. The visible problems were in the planning process, especially planning in the learning objectives, materials, and the provision of lecturers; In connection with the implementation of Arabic Intensive programs, there are still constrained by the available facilities and infrastructure, related to evaluation, the results of the study show that comprehensive evaluation needs to be done in relation to the evaluation of inputs, processes, outputs, and impacts to improve the quality of Arabic as an institutional brand in the future..AbstrakProgram intensif bahasa Arab penting untuk meningkatkan kualitas kemampuan bahasa asing bagi siswa UIN Imam Bonjol. Perencanaan, implementasi dan evaluasi proses Program Intensif Arab perlu ditangani dan ditingkatkan dari berbagai aspek. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi kebijakan yang tepat untuk meningkatkan manajemen program Bahasa Arab Intensif, untuk mengembangkan standar kompetensi bahasa Arab berdasarkan analisis kondisi nyata dari komponen utama dan pendukung program, dan untuk merumuskan standar untuk meningkatkan kualitas Program Intensif Bahasa Arab di UIN Imam Bonjol, Padang. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dimana data diambil dari wawancara, dokumentasi dan diskusi kelompok terarah. Sumber data adalah pimpinan, dosen, dan mahasiswa yang berpartisipasi dalam Program Intensif Arab. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa program-program Arab membutuhkan kebijakan yang tepat untuk mengatasi hambatan dan masalah. Masalah yang terlihat dalam proses perencanaan, terutama perencanaan dalam tujuan pembelajaran, bahan, dan penyediaan dosen; Sehubungan dengan pelaksanaan program-program Intensif Bahasa Arab, masih ada kendala oleh fasilitas dan infrastruktur yang tersedia, terkait dengan evaluasi, hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa evaluasi komprehensif perlu dilakukan sehubungan dengan evaluasi input, proses, output, dan dampak untuk meningkatkan kualitas bahasa Arab sebagai merek kelembagaan di masa depan. Abstract

Discourse studies on the Russia-Ukraine conflict have been conducted in the past few years, especially in newspapers. Comparative studies on the media in several countries have been widely carried out; however, none so far focused on comparing Arabic and English newspapers. Thus, this article aimed to examine the lexical cohesion of Arabic and English newspapers to identify each newspapers tendency to represent the conflict. Aljazeera and The Guardian newspaper were designated as subjects of the study, in which five opinions published in March 2022 by each newspaper were purposively selected as data sources. Data was collected through internet archival documentation techniques and analysed by referring to the lexical cohesion theory framework proposed by Halliday and Matthiessen (2013). The results showed that repetition was the dominant cohesive device used in Aljazeera, whereas repetition and collocation were the most used lexical cohesion devices in The Guardian. The use of these lexical cohesion devices showed that Aljazeera took a neutral position in representing conflicts and actors. On the other hand, The Guardian tended to side with Ukraine while framing Russia and Putin negatively. Differences in these tendencies were due to the differences in interests. Aljazeera could stay impartial because Qatar had no political interests in the conflict. By contrast, The Guardian was positioning itself against Russia and Putin because Britain had economic and geopolitical interests in the conflict.
