Abstract

This study aims to determine whether the type of oil and storage time can affect the physical and protein quality of layer eggs and whether there is an interaction between these two factors. This study used 36 Lohmann brown chicken eggs. The research method used a completely randomized design (CRD) with a 2x3x3 factorial pattern where 2 treatments were factor A (type of oil) and 3 treatments were factor B (storage time) using 3 repetitions. Factor A consists of M1 (Coconut Oil) and M2 (Olive Oil) while factor B consists of P1 (storage 7 days), P2 (storage 14 days) and P3 (storage 21 days). Parameters observed in this study were egg weight loss, air cavity, egg white index, egg yolk index, shell thickness and egg protein quality. The results showed that there was no interaction between the two factors on all research parameters.

Abstract

In raising free-range chickens, there are obstacles that must be considered in maintenance, namely the length of time of maintenance related to the cost of feed, so other alternatives are needed that can be used to overcome this problem, one of which is by using papaya leaves. This study determined the effect of giving papaya leaves (Carica papaya L) on Income Over Feed Costs and average daily gain on Kampung KUB chicken (Gallus gallus domesticus). This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The treatment consisted of P0 (Control Treatment); P1=Commercial feed + 2% papaya leaf powder); P2=Commercial feed+4% papaya leaf powder); P3 = Commercial feed + 6% papaya leaf powder) P4 = Commercial feed + 8% papaya leaf powder). The variables observed in this study are Income Over Feed Cost and average daily gain. The data obtained is analyzed using analysis of variance from RAL and followed by Duncan's test if the results are significant. The results showed that by giving papaya leaf powder (Carica papaya L) in free-range chicken rations the results did not have a significant effect (P>0.05) on Income Over Feed Cost (IOFC) with the treatment P0 19,307, P1 20,070, P2 18,808, P3 18,798, P4 18,506 and average daily gain (PBB), for giving flour the best papaya leaf is given at a concentration of 2% compared to a concentration of 8% papaya leaf flour with the treatment P0 172,45, P1 174,46, P2 169,44, P3 173,89, P4 171,52. The conclusion of the study was that giving papaya leaf powder (Carica Papaya L) in KUB chicken rations did not have a significant effect (P>0.05) on Income Over Feed Cost (IOFC) and Weight Gain, however, it did have a good effect on Income Over Feed Cost (IOFC) and Weight Gain can be seen from the average results because these alternative feeds can make feed costs efficient during maintenance.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to see the effect of giving Enterococcus sp. bacteria at Escherichia coli of excreta broiler. The research design used was a completely randomized design consisting of four treatments, three replications, and each replication had four broilers. The treatment given consisted of T1 (0 mL/L), T2 (1 mL/L), T3 (3 mL/L), and T4 (5 mL/L) control treatments. The number of colonies of Enterococcus sp. given through drinking water every day, namely 107 CFU / mL. The results of the study respectively showed the number of Escherichia coli in the treatment of T1 (Log 7.54 CFU/g), T2 (Log 7.53 CFU/g), T3 (Log 7.48 CFU/g), and T4 (Log 6.78 CFU/g). The colony total of Escherichia coli of broiler excreta decreases with increasing doses of Enterococcus sp. It is shown that Enterococcus sp. has an antimicrobial compound activity which can inhibit pathogen growth in broiler digestive tract so that it has the potential to be developed as a probiotic

Abstract

Probiotik adalah salah satu feed Additif yang di dalamya terkandung sebuah mikroorganisme yang memiliki fungsi dalam mengontrol komposisi bakteri dalam menekan jumlah bakteri merugikan dalam saluran pencernaan agar mampu menambah nilai daya cerna serta penyerapan nutrisi yang ada di saluran pencernaan pada unggas. Penelitian ini dilakukan agar dapat mengetahui profil organ dalam ayam broiler dengan pemberian probiotik Effective Microorganism-4 (EM-4) di dalam air minumnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan jumlah Perlakuan sebanyak 4 dan ulangan sebanyak 3 kali, tiap unit terdiri dari 3 ekor ayam sehingga total ayam yang dipergunakan yaitu 36 ekor. Adapun perlakuan yang diberikan adalah yaitu P0= Ransum tanpa probiotik (Perlakuan Kontrol), P1= Ransum + EM4 1 ml/ liter air minum/ hari, P2= Ransum + EM4 1,5 ml/ liter air minum/ hari, P3= Ransum + EM4 2 ml/ liter air minum/ hari. Durasi penelitian ini adalah selama 35 hari. Variabel yang diuji pada penelitian ini yaitu bobot relatif hati, proventrikulus, ventrikulus, bobot relatif segmen usus halus (duodenum, jejenum dan ileum) dan persentase panjang segmen usus halus (duodenum, jejenum dan ileum). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan dengan penambahan EM-4 dalam air minum tidak memberikan pengaruh nyata terhadap bobot relatif hati, proventikulus, ventrikulus, segmen usus halus (duodenum, jejenum, dan ileum) dan panjang relatif segmen usus halus (duodenum, jejenum dan ileum) namun, secara rerata terlihat peningkatan terhadap level yang berbeda. Adapun kesimpulan dari penelitian ini yaitu dengan penambahan EM-4 tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap profil organ dalam ayam broiler berupa bobot relatif organ tambahan (hati, proventrikulus dan ventrikulus), bobot dan panjang relatif segmen usus halus (duodenum, jejenum dan ileum).

Abstract

The use of Antibiotics Growth Promoters (AGP) was once a reliance for Broiler farms that aim to improve immunity as well as trigger the growth of broiler. It turned out that the use of AGP elicit a variety of very harmful impacts on human’s health, the presence of residues of antibiotics in broiler meat will reduce resistance of humans who consume them to some types of antibiotics even antibiotics that are prepared to handle the case of multi-resistant bacteria, namely the presence of antibiotic residues in broiler meat that will reduce the resistance of humans who consume them. So no longer impervious to some antibiotics even antibiotics that are prepared to handle the case of multi-resistant bacteria. This has become a limiting factor for the community, especially Muslims who are required to consume foods that are not only halal but bring benefits and do not contain harmful substances as admonitions in the Quran and hadith. This reality requires options to solve problems and answer real problems in people's lives wisely and contextually. Although AGP is required by the broiler, but based on many research results have shown that its role can be substituted with the addition of feed additives such as probiotics, enzymes and herbs as feed quality improvement efforts, included the implementation of biosecurity which must be carried out in an integrated manner. Broiler farms that implement good industry management has proved able to guarantee the availability of broiler as a source of animal protein is Safe, Healthy, and Whole Halal (in the Indonesian acronym is ASUH) and has a wide market share. This context be in accordance to the conception of food safety in Islam, food safety from the Islamic normative context namely halal and food safety from the health aspect, namely Thayyib. This paper responds to the issue of food safety which has been a fidgetiness for all stratums of Muslim society, whereas the ASUH food source is one of the fulfilments of the main points of the Maqasid al-Shari'ah or the general objective stipulated in Islamic law, namely to realize goodness, provide benefits and avoid damage to humans.

Abstract

Histomorfometri merupakan suatu metode pengukuran yang dilakukan pada sel dan jaringan usus halus segmen duodenum, jejenum dan ileum. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk meningkatkan performa vili usus halus adalah dengan memanfaatkan pakan alternatif seperti daun pepaya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan tepung daun pepaya (Carica papaya L.) dalam pakan terhadap histomorfometri usus halus. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah eksperimen dengan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) 5 perlakuan dan 3 kali ulangan, di antaranya P0 (100% komersil), P1 (100% pakan komersil + 2% tepung pepaya), P2 (100% pakan komersil + 4% tepung daun pepaya), P3 (100% pakan komersil + 6% tepung daun pepaya) dan P4 (100% pakan komersil + 8% tepung daun pepaya). Parameter yang diuji dalam penelitian ini adalah tinggi vili, lebar apikal vili, lebar basal vili dan kedalaman kripta. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah analysis of variance (ANOVA) dan uji Duncan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penambahan tepung daun pepaya 2% dalam pakan memberikan pengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap histomorfometri usus halus bagian duodenum, jejenum dan ileum.
