Abstract

This paper is intended to critically discuss the impact of infidelity on Catholic families, which includes threats, pastoral opportunities, and strategies needed in dealing with such cases. The method used in this paper is the case study method. This method allows the author to use some literature in the form of books, scientific journals, magazines, and online media that have relevance to the case raised in this paper. The case of infidelity raised in this study is part of the author's concern over events that have degraded and damaged the holiness of a marriage in the Catholic Church. In addition, infidelity has also become a very serious threat to the sustainability of Catholic families and of course has also threatened and damaged humans as moral creations of God. In this paper, the author attempts to critically analyze the case by paying attention to the guidelines of marital morality of the Catholic Church, especially based on the Code of Canon Law (KHK) and the apostolic call on family life. Based on the analysis, it was found that infidelity has damaged the lives of Catholic families and has had a significant impact on the decline of morality among families who have been bound in holy matrimony by the Catholic Church. In addition, infidelity has also destroyed the harmony that has been built in God's love. There are also pastoral strategies that we propose in this paper, including: the need for further formation for Catholic families regarding the consequences of holy marriage and monogamy. In addition, it is also necessary to hold meetings involving all Catholic families in order to create an atmosphere of intimacy among fellow families which ultimately brings awareness to care about the continuity of a holy and once-in-a-lifetime marriage.

Abstract

The focus of this paper is to discuss the catechesis of the Catholic Church on marriagecharacterized by monogamy and lifelong according to the Code of Canon Law, No. 1056. In essence, marriage has the characteristics of being sacred, monogamous, and lifelong. These characteristics or traits of marriage are not only owned by the Catholic Church, but all religions in the world have the same characteristics. The author argues that the main causes of marital disharmony are breaking marital vows and not forgiving each other. The Catholic Church reiterates that if there is a misunderstanding from one of the spouses, they should forgive, love and forgive each other. Jesus Christ himself has taught to forgive each other, but the Catholic faithful cannot live and follow the example of Jesus Christ. The two methodologies used in writing this article are phenomenological and text analysis. In understanding the characteristics of marriage in the Catholic Church, the author uses Scripture, the Church document Gaudium Et Spes, the Familiaris Consortio document, the magisterium: Encyclical Humanae Vitae, and the Code of Canon Law. In addition, the author uses references from books and journals that are directly related to the theme of this article. The findings conveyed from the writing of this article are that it contains an invitation, namely how to live a marriage characterized by monogamy (unitas) and for life. Indeed, these characteristics of marriage have been written in the Old Testament (OT) and fulfilled by Jesus in the NT. So man cannot deny the statements of the Holy Scriptures and it has become the law of his nature. The author affirms that a valid and normal Catholic marriage is between a man and a woman. Abstract

The main focus of this discussion is to examine the attitude of Saint Francis of Assisi and Sultan Malik al-Kamil in building tolerance between religions, especially in West Borneo. St. Francis of Assisi's concern for the war that claimed so many lives at that time, made him feel that humans had begun to forget the social value of other people's lives so that an attitude of mutual suspicion arose within themselves to bring each other down through their religious beliefs. Religion is a personal human affair with God, not a human affair that interferes with the affairs of other human beings with the God they believe in. Therefore, if there is someone who interferes in such matters, a different ideological understanding will emerge. The government is trying to promote a prosperous life by daring to accept the differences that exist in Indonesia. The interreligious dialogue that was created aims to provide answers to the problems that occur to create peace. The goal to be achieved from this research is to build a lively dialogue that overrides religious ideology that leads to acts of tolerance towards others. Therefore, it is necessary for the Indonesian people to first understand what is meant by dialogue. Dialogue is understood as an artistic value in understanding when discussing the meaning, when someone conveys something, it is hoped that it will be responded with sympathy for the other person. If this is not done, then the dialogue is only limited to ordinary discussions or only to dispel suspicions. The novelty of this research is to examine and reflect on the attitude of the meeting of Saints and Sultans in building peace in maintaining the value of life in humans, which at this time has also begun to be forgotten due to differences.

Abstract

Fokus utama tulisan ini adalah melihat fenomena pernikahan Tungku Cu di Manggarai dalam terang KHK 1091. Pernikahan Tungku Cu merupakan pernikahan yang terjadi dengan tetap memiliki hubungan darah, yaitu anak dari saudara dan anak dari saudari. Pernikahan sedarah ini bertentangan dengan ajaran Gereja Katolik seperti yang tertulis dalam Kitab Hukum Kanonik. Gereja Katolik secara tegas menolak terkait dengan pernikahan sesama saudara atau pernikahan dengan asal usul yang sama. Penulis menggunakan metode studi pustaka dan wawancara. Tulisan ini memberikan kontribusi terhadap kehidupan sosial dan kehidupan Gereja dengan adanya temuan baru terkait dengan fenomena pernikahan Tungku Cu di Manggarai dalam terang KHK 1091.  Adapun beberapa temuan dalam tulisan ini: pertama, cinta akan kedua pasangan menjadi alasan yang masuk akal dari sudut pandang Gereja dan dunia. Kedua, alasan belis (mahar) yang terlalu tinggi sehingga pernikahan antara keluarga dapat mengurangi belis. Ketiga, kedua pasangan telah hidup bersama dan memiliki anak. Keempat, Gereja Keuskupan Ruteng akan tetap memberi dispensasi terhadap fenomena Tungku Cu di manggarai berdasarkan KHK sebagai bentuk kemurahan hati Gereja, dengan tetap mempertimbangkan alasan yang logis dan alasan yang kuat. Kelima, dispensasi diberikan sebagai bentuk penghargaan Gereja terhadap budaya setempat.

Abstract

Abstract The focus of this paper is to discuss the case of interfaith marriage in the area of St. Maria Ratu Rosari-Reo Parish, Ruteng Diocese, especially in the context of the view of canon law of the Catholic Church. This article investigates the implications of canon law related to interfaith marriage cases and the process of granting dispensation to Catholics involved. The author analyzes the theological, ethical, and canonical legal foundations involved in handling cases of this kind. In addition, this paper also discusses the social and spiritual impact of the dispensation decision on the individuals and Catholic communities involved. The case of interfaith marriage in the parish of St. Mary Queen Rosari-Reo highlights the complexity of the canon law of the Catholic Church. The theological, ethical, and procedural foundations of canon law are analyzed, while the social and spiritual impact of dispensation decisions is considered. The importance of integrating the principles of Church teaching with the social and pastoral reality of Catholics is highlighted in the context of interfaith marriages in the Parish of Str. Maria Ratu Rosari-Reo Ruteng Diocese.

Abstract

The focus of this paper is an examination of the triggers of marriage in the St. Joseph Parish, Nikolaus Pacar, Diocese of Ruteng. Forced marriages in St. Joseph Parish, Nikolaus Pacar, reveal the complexities and challenges of preserving individual freedom and dignity. This phenomenon involves a variety of factors, including economics, debt, culture, pregnancy outside of marriage, arranged marriage and parental pressure. This research uses qualitative methods with interviews as data collection and elaborated with other sources that support the writing of this article. Forced marriages result in family conflict and unhappiness and an increase in domestic violence. Awareness of the importance of freedom in marriage is vital, as relationships built on coercion are at risk of disharmony and conflict. To ensure the success of a marriage, it is important that both partners have the freedom to make decisions. Conscious decisions will make the relationship harmonious. So in making decisions, open communication between the two people is needed.

Abstract

This article discusses interfaith marriages in the context of the Catholic Church, especially from the perspective of canon law and reconciliation efforts. The Catholic Church recognizes the validity of interfaith marriages under certain conditions, although it does not consider them sacraments. Through an analysis of canon law, requirements such as dispensation from the bishop, guarantees of educating children in the Catholic faith, and adapted marriage procedures are discussed. This article also explores the challenges of interfaith marriages, such as the potential for conflict due to differences in religious beliefs and practices. Furthermore, this article describes reconciliation efforts carried out by the Catholic Church, such as inter-faith dialogue to build mutual understanding, special pastoral formation for interfaith couples, as well as a more inclusive approach involving figures from other religions. The main goal of this effort is to help couples build strong commitment, overcome challenges wisely, and create a harmonious and loving family environment. This article highlights the Catholic Church's efforts to balance maintaining the integrity of Catholic teachings and values ​​by demonstrating openness and tolerance towards diversity of beliefs in an increasingly pluralistic modern society.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between the 1983 Code of Canon Law and the Second Vatican Council from a pastoral theological perspective. The 1983 Code of Canon Law represents a significant reform in the Catholic Church’s legal structure, shifting from a juridical to a pastoral approach, largely influenced by the theological renewal of the Second Vatican Council. This research aims to analyze the continuity and transformation of canonical norms, particularly in their application within the Church's pastoral life. Using a qualitative method with a textual analysis approach, this study reviews official Church documents, including the 1983 Code of Canon Law and the decrees of the Second Vatican Council, applying hermeneutical and theological reflections. The findings reveal that the 1983 Code of Canon Law integrates key elements of Vatican II’s ecclesiology, emphasizing the communal nature of the Church and the active participation of the laity. Furthermore, the study highlights the pastoral dimension of canonical law, particularly in its flexibility and responsiveness to contemporary pastoral needs. The study concludes that the reforms brought by the 1983 Code of Canon Law reflect a deeper alignment with Vatican II’s vision, reinforcing the Church’s mission in a more inclusive and adaptive manner. These insights provide theological and pastoral implications for Church leaders and scholars in applying canonical norms effectively within pastoral contexts.

Abstract

ABSTRAKTulisan ini fokus membahas tema perkawinan. Topik utama yang diangkat ialah perkawinan dalam adat Dayak Kanayatn dan bagaimana kaitannya dengan perkawinan tradisi Gereja Katolik. Tujuan utama karya tulis ini adalah memperkenalkan adat-istiadat perkawinan orang Dayak Kanayatn. Artikel ini juga bertujuan menemukan apakah perkawinan Dayak Kanayatn sejalan dengan perkawinan Gereja Katolik. Metodologi yang digunakan dalam menyusun tulisan ini antara lain studi pustaka dan wawancara. Ada beberapa temuan yang menjadi hasil karya tulis ini. Pertama, Dayak Kanayatn merupakan salah satu sub suku Dayak Darat yang memiliki beragam keunikan, termasuk soal perkawinan adat. Kedua, perkawinan adat Dayak Kanayatn dilaksanakan dalam empat tahap, yaitu Pinang Tanya, Bakomo Manta’, Bakomo Masak, dan Gawe Penganten. Ketiga, perkawinan Gereja Katolik ialah perkawinan yang berciri satu dan tak terceraikan antara seorang pria dan wanita. Keempat, perkawinan Dayak Kanayatn juga merupakan perkawinan yang satu dan tak terceraikan serta meminta berkat dari Jubata (Allah). Perkawinan Kanayatn dan Katolik sama-sama tidak menyertakan unsur paksaan.Kata kunci: perkawinan, Dayak Kanayatn, satu dan tak terceraikan, personal
