Abstract

Effectiveness of Group Guidance using Self-talk Techniques to Improve Students' Self-Concept (Quasi Experiment on Class VIII Students at MTs Maisyairiquil Ainwair Cairingin Academic Year 2023/2024).This research aims to find out the general picture of the self-concept of MTs Maisyairiquil Ainwair Cairingin class students for the 2023/2024 academic year, as well as to find out the effectiveness of group guidance using self-talk techniques to improve students' self-concept. The research was carried out using the quantitative method of nonequivalent control group design model from a population of 150 students with a sample of 24 students. Data analysis used in this research used the normality test, homogeneity test and paired sample t test, by comparing two group members, namely the experimental group and the experimental group. control. Both groups were given a pre-test and post-test, however the experimental group was given group guidance treatment and the control group was given no treatment. The research results showed that after being given treatment there was a difference in the average pre-test and post-test scores with an increase above a score of 79. The research results can be concluded that group guidance using the self-talk technique is effective for improving students' self-concept.

Abstract

Social skills are crucial for students to interact effectively with their environment. Poor social skills can lead to various problems, such as withdrawal, difficulty expressing opinions, and obstacles in the learning process. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of group guidance services with modeling techniques in improving students' social skills. The study used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The study population was all 10th-grade high school students, with a purposive sample of 10 students with low social skills. The instrument used was a social skills questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis techniques included normality, homogeneity, and Mann-Whitney tests. The results showed a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores, with an Asymp. Sig. value of 0.000 <0.05, indicating that group guidance services with modeling techniques effectively improve students' social skills. The conclusion of this study is that group guidance with modeling techniques can be an alternative strategy for guidance and counseling services in schools to help students develop their social skills.

Abstract

Student development is not only measured in academic terms but also in psychological and emotional aspects. One important aspect is Self Disclosure, the ability of students to express thoughts, feelings, and personal experiences appropriately. Initial observations at SMAN 4 Pandeglang showed that many eleventh-grade students had low levels of Self Disclosure, characterized by reluctance to express opinions, difficulty sharing personal experiences, and a tendency to withdraw. This study aims to describe the general level of students’ self disclosure, design group counseling services using Assertive Training techniques, and test their effectiveness in improving Self Disclosure. The research method used was a quasi-experiment with a nonequivalent control group design. The sample consisted of 20 students divided into an experimental group (10 students with low Self Disclosure) and a control group (10 students with moderate Self Disclosure). The research instrument was a Self Disclosure questionnaire based on Hargie’s six aspects (2011). The results showed an increase in the experimental group’s mean score from 74.3 (pretest) to 88.5 (posttest). The Wilcoxon test showed a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that the null hypothesis was rejected. In conclusion, group counseling with Assertive Training techniques is effective in improving Self Disclosure among eleventh-grade students at SMAN 4 Pandeglang.

Abstract

Academic stress is a common issue among high school students, particularly when facing heavy academic demands. One crucial factor that can help reduce academic stress is self-efficacy, defined as an individual’s belief in their ability to complete tasks and overcome challenges. This study aims to examine the relationship between self-efficacy and academic stress among eleventh-grade students at SMAN 4 Pandeglang and its implications for guidance and counseling services. The research employed a quantitative method with a correlational design. The population consisted of 456 eleventh-grade students, while the sample comprised 213 students selected using simple random sampling. The instruments used were self-efficacy and academic stress questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using the Product Moment Correlation (Pearson Correlation). The results revealed a significant negative relationship between self-efficacy and academic stress, with a correlation coefficient of r = -0.776 and a significance level of 0.000 < 0.05. This indicates that the higher the students’ self-efficacy, the lower their academic stress. These findings highlight the importance of guidance and counseling services, particularly group guidance, in fostering students’ self-efficacy so they can manage academic stress more effectively.

Abstract

Study skills refer to cognitive, behavioral, and self-regulatory abilities that support effective learning. Many students still show poor study skills, and factors such as internet use and achievement motivation may influence them, as online information access and a strong drive to achieve can shape learning strategies. This research aims to examine the contribution of internet use and achievement motivation toward students’ study skills. The study used a quantitative approach with a descriptive correlational method. The population consisted of 625 students, and 244 Guidance and Counseling majors at Universitas Negeri Padang were selected as samples. Instruments were based on a Likert scale with reliability values of 0.841, 0.841, and 0.842. Data were analyzed using multiple regression, although the manuscript does not clearly explain the research design or descriptive statistical procedures. The findings show that both variables contribute 31.3% to study skills, with a significant positive relationship.
