Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the competence of beautician teachers at Imelda Medan Tourism Private Vocational School through training and mentoring Barber skills based on the industrial world. The target partners are teachers who still have limitations in mastering male hair trimming techniques, do not have access to industry-based training, and lack practical facilities according to industry standards. The main problems identified include: (1) low teacher competence in barber techniques, (2) limited facilities and infrastructure to support learning, (3) unavailability of relevant industry-based training, and (4) no partnership with professional barbershop practitioners. The solutions offered include intensive training in basic to advanced techniques in men's hair trimming, provision of practical tools such as hair clipper, trimmer, and cutting scissors, and development of video tutorials as self-learning media. In addition, this activity also facilitates cooperation between schools and the World of Business and Industry (DUDI), as well as assistance in utilizing the learning media. The implementation method consists of the preparation stage, training, practical assistance, competency evaluation, and publication of activity results. The implication of this program is the establishment of an industry-based vocational training model that can be replicated in similar schools, improving the teaching quality of vocational teachers, and strengthening the synergy between vocational education institutions and industry in developing human resources that are relevant to the needs of the labor market.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran Student Facilitator and Explaining (SFaE) terhadap hasil belajar perawatan kulit wajah siswa kelas XI Tata Kecantikan SMK Negeri 10 Medan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode eksperimen semu (quasi-experiment). Desain penelitian berupa pretest–posttest control group design. Populasi penelitian berjumlah 60 siswa, dengan sampel dua kelas masing-masing 30 siswa yang diambil dengan teknik purposive sampling. Instrumen pengumpulan data menggunakan tes hasil belajar yang telah divalidasi ahli. Analisis data dilakukan dengan uji-t pada taraf signifikansi 0,05. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata nilai post-test kelas eksperimen yang menggunakan model SFaE sebesar 87, sedangkan kelas kontrol dengan model Direct Instruction sebesar 74. Nilai sig. (2-tailed) 0,000 < 0,05, yang berarti terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara kedua kelompok. Dengan demikian, model SFaE berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap peningkatan hasil belajar perawatan kulit wajah siswa.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya hasil praktik siswa dalam pembelajaran penataan sanggul tradisional, khususnya sanggul pingkan, yang disebabkan oleh keterbatasan media pembelajaran konvensional seperti buku dan ceramah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efektivitas media pembelajaran video tutorial sanggul pingkan dalam meningkatkan hasil praktik siswa Tata Kecantikan di SMK Negeri 1 Beringin. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen kuantitatif dengan desain One Group Pretest–Posttest, melibatkan 30 siswa kelas XI sebagai sampel. Instrumen penelitian berupa lembar observasi praktik dengan lima aspek penilaian, yaitu ketepatan hasil sasakan rambut, bentuk koip, bentuk kepangan, proporsi sanggul, dan peletakan ornamen. Data dianalisis melalui uji-t setelah memenuhi uji normalitas dan homogenitas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rata-rata nilai pre-test 60 (kategori cukup) dan post-test 80 (kategori baik). Nilai t_hitung = 10,74 > t_tabel = 1,69 (α = 0,05), sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan video tutorial efektif meningkatkan hasil praktik siswa secara signifikan. Penerapan media ini membuat proses belajar lebih interaktif, memudahkan pemahaman langkah-langkah teknis, serta meningkatkan keaktifan dan motivasi siswa. Dengan demikian, media video tutorial direkomendasikan sebagai alternatif pembelajaran praktik pada program keahlian Tata Kecantikan di SMK.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an International bridal makeup videos tutorial on hybrid learning  by utilizing learning management system SIPDA Unimed. This Reaseach is use Research and Development using the ADDIE development model which consists of 5 (five) steps or development phases including: (A)nalysis, (D)esign, (D)evelopment,(I) mplementation and (E)valuate. Data collection is carried out through expert tests including tests of media experts, design experts and material experts. After an evaluation from experts, it was continued with trials on respondents, esspeciallay students of the cosmetology education study program through individual tests (one to one), small group tests (Small Group) and Field Tests (field tests). This research will produce learning videos tutorial output in International bridal cosmetology videos learning include Japanese bridal cometology, Korean bridal cosmetology, Indian bridal Cosmetology, Chinese bridal cosmetology, and Pakistani bridal cosmetology. This research has met the Level of Technological Preparedness (TKT) 4-6, namely: 1 )Data Collection, Validation in Simulation Environments, 2) Completeness and Analysis of Data on Simulation Environments, 3) Important and significant of development results for decision and policy support. The hypothesis result testing prove that: (1) Learning videos are eligible for use in (2) there  is a significant difference between  student learning outcomes  that studied using learning videos media. This is indicated by the results of data processing (tcount =3,285 )at the level of significance É” = 0.05 with dk 56,3 obtained (ttable = 1.65 ), so (tcount >  ttable),the effectiveness of advantage tutorial videos media in international bride cosmetology videos tutorial= 80.50%. This is indicated that the implementation of The International bridal makeup videos based on Hybrid Learning by utilizing the SIPDA Unimed Learning Management System are more effective in improving students competence and knowledge on The International bridal makeup hybrid learning.

Abstract

Abstrak: Tujuan dari penelitian ini (1) mengembangan media pembelajaran yang interaktif pada Kosmetika dan Minuman Tradisional Program Studi Pendidikan Tata Rias, (2) untuk mengetahui kelayakan penggunaan media pembelajaran yang interaktif pada Kosmetika Dan Minuman Tradisional Program Studi Pendidikan Tata Rias. Metode penelitian adalah Research and Development (R&D) yang mengikuti langkah-langkah model penelitian pengembangan   ADDIE. Subjek dari penelitian yaitu mahasiswa Angkatan 2021 Pendidikan tata rias Angkatan Universitas Negeri Medan. Data berasal dari kegiatan observasi, wawancara serta penyebaran angket. Berdasarkan hasil uji validitas ahli materi diperoleh 91,6% (berkategori sangat baik), penilaian ahli media 97,7% (berkategori sangat baik),  Berdasarkan atas nilai yang diberikan ahli materi 94,49% di kategori yang sangat baik. Produk di uji coba pada kelompok kecil memperoleh nilai 88,6% (berkategori baik), pada kelompok sedang memperoleh nilai 89,2% (berkategori sangat baik), dan pengujian kelompok besar memperoleh nilai 92,1% (berkategori sangatbaik). Berdasarkan hasil penilaian tersebut disimpulkan bahwa media interaktif Kosmetika dan Minuman Tradisional dinyatakan layak untuk membantu dalam berlangsungnya proses belajar. Kata Kunci: Media Interaktif, Kosmetika Tradisional, Minuman Tradisional, Tata Rias   Abstract: The aims of this research (1) developing interactive learning media on Cosmetics and Traditional Drinks, Cosmetology Education Study Program, (2) Determine the feasibility of using interactive learning media on Cosmetics and Traditional Drinks, Study Program of Cosmetology Education. The research method is Research and Development (R&D) which follows the steps of the ADDIE research and development model. The subjects of research are students of 2021 Cosmetology Education of Medan State University. Data comes from observation activities, interviews and distribution of questionnaires. Based on the results of the material expert's validity test, it was found to be 91.6% (category of very good), media expert's assessment was 97.7% (category of very good), Based on the results of the blended learning material expert's assessment, it was 94.49% (category of very good). The product tested in the small group received a score of 88.6% (good category), the medium group got a score of 89.2% (very good category), and the large testing group got a score of 92.1% (category of very good),). The results of this assessment, it was concluded that the interactive media Cosmetics and Traditional Drinks were declared suitable for assisting in the learning process.Keywords: Interactive Media, Traditional Cosmetics, Traditional Drinks, Cosmetology

Abstract

The teaching and learning process for cosmetology education students needs to be developed to provide meaningful experiences in the learning process both in theory and practice, as well as being able to provide solutions to the problems found to improve learning outcomes and creativity, one of which is in the Sunda siger bridal makeup learning material. The development model refers to Research and development (R&D) and the Borg & Gall model. The development research results show that video-based learning media exists in the Indonesian bridal makeup course, especially in the Sunda Siger bridal makeup learning material, with an average feasibility level based on the expert judgment of 80.15% declared feasible. A small and wide class trial is carried out with the same score of 80,4% declared eligible. The feasibility results obtained from experts and trials analyzed for data, the acquisition of the control class scores with the results of the pretest 64% and posttest 75.67%, in the experimental class, the value of the pretest was 71.57%, and the posttest was 88.33%, from the results of the use value. This video media is suitable for learning about Sunda siger bridal makeup. The results of the media being accepted or rejected can be seen from the value of the t-test where the learning video media obtained tcount 24.54 and t-table 2,086, with the acquisition of t-count greater than t-table then H1 accepted video media in the development of video media in learning Sunda siger bridal makeup.

Abstract

Penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk mengetahui hasil praktik rias wajah cikatri pada siswa kelas XI tata kecantikan kulit dan rambut di SMK Negeri 1 Lubuk Pakam. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kuantitatif untuk menilai keterampilan praktik rias wajah cikatri pada 30 siswa. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah simple random sampling. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah teknik deskriptif, dengan persyaratan analisis menggunakan kesepakatan pengamat dan persentase. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah lembar pengamatan hasil praktik rias wajah cikatri yang diamati oleh 3 orang pengamat, yaitu 2 orang ahli di bidang rias wajah cikatri dan 1 orang guru tata kecantikan di SMK Negeri 1 Lubuk Pakam. Penelitian ini memeliki data yang dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan lembar pengamatan hasil praktik rias wajah cikatri pada siswa kelas xi tata kecantikan kulit dan rambut di SMK Negeri 1 Lubuk Pakam. Berdasarkan data penelitian yang dilakukan diketahui hasil rata-rata skor siswa sebesar 83 dengan skor tertinggi 97 dan skor terendah 68. Hasil rata-rata dari hasil aplikasi Concealer dalam kategori baik sebesar 73%, hasil aplikasi Foundation padat dalam kategori baik sebesar 67%, hasil aplikasi Foundation cair dalam kategori baik sebesar 80%, hasil aplikasi bedak (powder) dalam kategori baik sebesar 70%, hasil akhir wajah cikatri dalam kategori baik sebesar 63%, Hal ini menjelaskan bahwa siswa dikatagorikan baik dalam melakukan praktik rias wajah cikatri. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa siswa sudah mampu mengaplikasikan teknik rias wajah cikatri dengan baik.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tingkat kesulitan praktek pengeritingan rambut dasar yang dilakukan oleh siswa kelas XI tata kecantikan SMK pariwisata imelda medan.Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif deskriptif. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan total sampling dengan jumlah sampel 45 orang. Analisis data menggunakan teknik deskriptif. Instrumen penelitian ini adalah lembar pengamatan tingkat kesulitan praktek pengeritingan rambut dasar yang diamati 5 orang pengamat yang ahli atau yang berkompeten dibidang pengeritingan rambut.Berdasarkan penelitian yang dilakukan diketahui hasil rata-rata skor siswa sebasar 70 dengan skor tertinggi 82 dan skor terendah 59. Hasil rata-rata skor ketepatan penerapan teknik parting rambut menjadi 9 bagian memperoleh skor 3 dan mendapatkan nilai baik sebesar 89%, rata-rata skor ketepatan blocking memperoleh skor 3 dan mendapatkan nilai baik sebesar 87%, rata-rata skor ketepatan penggunaan kertas toni memperoleh skor 3 dan mendapatkan nilai baik sebesar 87%, rata-rata skor ketepatan penggulungan memperoleh skor 3 dan mendapatkan nilai baik sebesar 84%, rata-rata skor keketatan penggulungan rotto memperoleh skor 3 dan mendapatkan nilai baik sebesar 76% dan rata rata skor pengecekan gelombang ikal berbentuk S memperoleh skor 2 dan mendapatkan nilai cukup baik dan mendapatkan nilai sebesar 60%.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the formulation and consumer acceptance of a hair tonic made from guava leaf extract (Psidium guajava L.) as a natural alternative for reducing hair loss among university students. Hair loss is a common issue influenced by factors such as stress, nutritional imbalance, and prolonged use of chemical-based hair products, which may irritate the scalp and weaken hair roots. A preliminary survey conducted among 100 female students at Universitas Negeri Medan revealed that 87% experienced hair loss, and 68% preferred natural-based products, indicating the need for safer and more sustainable hair care solutions. Guava leaves contain bioactive compounds including flavonoids, tannins, and vitamins, which are known to strengthen hair roots and maintain scalp health. This research employed a quantitative descriptive method carried out at the Beauty Education Laboratory of Universitas Negeri Medan in August–September 2025. The guava leaf extract was obtained using the maceration method with 96% ethanol and formulated into a 2% hair tonic. A hedonic test was conducted with 72 panelists to assess six sensory indicators: color, aroma, texture, sensation during application, after-use aroma, and overall comfort. The findings showed that the formulation had a pH of 6.4, a viscosity of 45 cP, and caused no irritation, indicating good safety. All sensory indicators received average scores above 4.00, with acceptance levels exceeding 85%, categorized as highly liked. The product’s brownish color originated from natural tannins, its aroma from the fresh scent of guava leaf extract, and its light non-sticky texture from the combination of ethanol and propylene glycol. The cool sensation during application was attributed to ethanol, while flavonoids contributed antioxidant benefits that protect hair cells from damage. In conclusion, the guava leaf extract hair tonic demonstrates strong consumer acceptance, safe physicochemical characteristics, and promising potential as an innovative natural hair care product. These findings support further development and application of herbal-based cosmetic products aligned with sustainable beauty trends.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kreativitas mengajar mahasiswa calon guru dalam mata kuliah microteaching yang ditunjukkan oleh penggunaan metode pembelajaran yang monoton dan kurang variatif Minimnya inovasi dalam merancang pengalaman belajar menyebabkan mahasiswa belum mampu mengembangkan kemampuan pedagogik secara optimal Oleh karena itu penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan buku ajar microteaching berbasis gamification guna meningkatkan kreativitas mengajar mahasiswa Penelitian menggunakan model pengembangan ADDIE yang meliputi tahap analisis desain pengembangan implementasi dan evaluasi Instrumen penelitian berupa tes kreativitas mengajar lembar validasi ahli dan angket respon mahasiswa Uji coba dilakukan pada mahasiswa calon guru program studi Pendidikan Antropologi Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa buku ajar berbasis gamification yang dikembangkan memiliki tingkat kelayakan yang sangat baik berdasarkan penilaian ahli materi dan ahli media Hasil uji efektivitas menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kreativitas mengajar mahasiswa secara signifikan ditunjukkan oleh naiknya skor rata rata dari 64 pada pretest menjadi 79 pada posttest Perhitungan menggunakan rumus N Gain menghasilkan nilai 0 42 yang termasuk dalam kategori peningkatan sedang Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan gamification dalam buku ajar microteaching dapat menjadi alternatif inovatif untuk meningkatkan kreativitas mengajar mahasiswa calon guru < p>
