Abstract

Abstract

Many school children still have limited knowledge about the safety of snack foods, causing them to choose snacks based on taste without considering the ingredients. To facilitate nutrition education for school children, instructional media in the form of PowerPoint slides were used. The snakes and ladders game method is highly suitable for school-aged students because it is interactive and enjoyable. The aim of this community service activity was to provide education on PJAS (school snacks) safety using the SAH approach (Fresh, Safe, and Hygienic) with the Biopsychosocial model. The method applied was lectures supported by PowerPoint slides. Based on the results of questionnaires regarding students' knowledge about PJAS safety, pre-test and post-test scores were obtained. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The analysis showed an increase in students' knowledge about snack food safety after the intervention. Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test resulted in p = 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant improvement in students' knowledge and attitudes between pre-test and post-test. Thus, PJAS food safety education using the Biopsychosocial model approach was proven effective in improving students' knowledge and attitudes regarding snack food safety.

Abstract

Garbage is now one of the biggest problems in Indonesia. Indonesia produces 64 million tons of garbage annually, most of which is household waste. If not properly managed, waste can block waterways, resulting in environmental pollution and health impacts. The method of community service activities is educational management of household garbage around the location of Emo-G Waste Bank Bogor district. The event was attended by 20 participants who were present and given a questionnaire at the beginning and end. The analysis results showed an increase in the average knowledge score of respondents related to garbage management, with an average pre-test score of 8,17 and a post-test average of 8,25. For the variable attitude towards garbage management, there was also an increase in the average score, where the pre-test score was 8,33, and the post-sitting score was 8,67. An increase was observed for the waste management behavior variable, with an average pre-test score of 7,42 and an average post-test score of 8,08. Based on the results of the internal evaluation, the team's service to the community is rated as running fairly well. Recommendations to citizens are expected to participate more actively in household garbage disposal activities and to deposit in the trash bank to reduce the waste burden that the TPA has to manage and also bring economic benefits for citizens as the saved trash can be converted into monetary value.

Abstract

Coal mining vehicle operators have negative consequences with health effects such as fatigue. The aim of the study was to analyze the risk factors related to subjective fatigue among coal mining operators. Specifically, it seeks to examine the relationship between work shift, working period, sleep quantity, sleep quality, and personal characteristics, such as age, neck circumference, and body mass index. Data were collected from a coal mining site in South Kalimantan, Indonesia in 2022 with primary questionnaires. A total of 440 workers who worked in the mining and hauling area for at least one year were recruited in this study. This was a cross-sectional study. Quantitative data were obtained to describe the level of subjective fatigue and to analyze the risk factors associated with the work fatigue in coal mining vehicle operators. The fatigue was associated with obesity (OR:1.777, 95% CI:1.0067-2.960), overweight (OR:1.783, 95% CI:1.046-3.040), neck circumference (OR:1.513, 95% CI:1.0983-2.329), sleep quality (OR:4.597, 95% CI:2.762-7.650), and working period (OR:0.545, 95% CI:10.360-0.825) (p<0.05 for all). However, fatigue did not significantly affect from sleep quantity and work shift. Ensuring individual health is essential for preserving the opportunity to sleep and allowing the body to recover from fatigue.
