Abstract

This study maps shallow coastal groundwater quality in Padang, Indonesia, using four operational parameters: potential of hydrogen (pH), electrical conductivity (EC), total dissolved solids (TDS), and salinity. We characterize spatial dependence using empirical variograms, evaluate directional anisotropy, and generate prediction surfaces with Ordinary Kriging. The variogram analysis indicates stronger spatial continuity along the coastline for EC and TDS, while salinity shows shorter continuity with a distinct directional structure, reflecting localized freshwater-seawater mixing processes. Groundwater pH remains neutral to slightly alkaline and exhibits lower spatial variability than EC, TDS, and salinity. Leave-one-out cross-validation supports the reliability of the kriging estimates at the study scale, indicating low prediction error and strong agreement between observed and predicted values. The resulting thematic maps enable a three-level quality zoning that differentiates a lower-risk northern segment, a transitional central belt, and a higher-risk southern segment consistent with seawater intrusion influence. These outputs provide a practical basis for prioritizing monitoring locations, protecting vulnerable wells, and strengthening evidence-based coastal groundwater management aligned with SDG 6 Clean Water and Sanitation and SDG 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities.

Abstract

Sparing is a remote monitoring tool (telemetry) and is carried out in real-time via various different devices, as well as storing and displaying it on many device options. This research uses a quantitative descriptive method, which aims to present data related to the research object. The data sources used in this research consist of primary and secondary data sources. Where primary data is obtained from direct observation and measurements regarding pH values, Total Suspended Solid (TSS), Iron (Fe) and Manganese (Mn) metal content. Secondary data was obtained through literature relevant to the research and documentation during the research. The results obtained in May 2022 were 31.0 and 32.2 mg/l, in November 2022 upstream and downstream, namely 19 and 26.8 mg/l. Meanwhile, the pH value of the water in May 2022 in the upstream river still met The quality book is 6.03, while the pH value in the upstream and downstream rivers is 7.3 and 7.1, while in November 2022 the upstream and downstream pH will be 6.43 and 7.11. The iron (Fe) and manganese content is also relatively small both upstream and downstream, namely in May 0.323 and 0.284 mg/l and in November 2022 0.612 and 0.124. Meanwhile, the results of the river pollution capacity are TSS on the Kungkilan River, namely (28.89 - 36.13 mg/L) and the Lematang River, namely (27.00 - 30.25 mg/L).

Abstract

This study examines the knowing-doing gap in environmental literacy among coal mine workers implementing ISO 14001:2015 at PT XYZ, South Sumatra. Despite being ISO 14001 certified, the gap between environmental knowledge and actual pro-environmental behavior remains a critical challenge in sustainable mining. Using a mixed-methods design, researchers surveyed 24 workers through questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, field observations, and document analysis. Environmental literacy was assessed through three dimensions: knowledge, attitudes, and behavior, based on the McBeth & Volk framework. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (SPSS 25), while qualitative data were analyzed through thematic analysis. The results indicate high environmental literacy knowledge (83% understand the policy) and positive attitudes (>65% agree with environmental responsibility), but low consistent behavior with only 42% attending regular training and 38% participating in reclamation programs, indicating a 41% gap. Key barriers include productivity pressures, inflexible training schedules, the absence of an incentive system, and weak management role models. ISO 14001:2015 effectively enhances the knowledge dimension through policy dissemination and audits, but fails to drive behavioral change without complementary organizational mechanisms. This research contributes to a conceptual model that integrates individual literacy with organizational determinants, demonstrating that sustainable mining requires systemic interventions beyond administrative compliance
