Abstract

During college, various factors influence students' low academic engagement. Emotional pressure, academic stress, and an unsupportive social environment are often the main causes of students' lack of academic activity. However, academic engagement is a crucial factor that significantly influences academic success. Academic engagement itself is a multidimensional construct encompassing emotional, behavioral, and cognitive aspects of students' learning experiences. In general, academic engagement is influenced by internal factors, such as emotional state, learning interest, self-efficacy, and intrinsic motivation; and external factors, such as social environment, peer support, parental involvement, and the teaching style of lecturers. Students at the Painan College of Law (STIH) are not immune to this challenge, especially those who attend weekend employee classes. They face the dual pressures of work responsibilities, family obligations, and academic obligations. This can certainly reduce their focus and energy in optimally participating in lectures. Therefore, academic engagement is a crucial issue that needs to be addressed systematically to ensure students maintain their enthusiasm for learning. Through the Community Partnership Program (PKM), efforts are being made to provide students with a deeper understanding of the importance of academic engagement. The purpose of this activity is for students to understand the factors that influence academic engagement and develop strategies to address them. The methods used in this PKM include presentations, interactive discussions, and self-development and academic planning exercises. Through this activity, it is hoped that students will develop adequate awareness and skills in time management, self-regulation, and internal motivation to remain engaged in academic activities.

Abstract

Environmental education at an early age is a strategic step to shape children's character who care about the sustainability of nature. This article examines the role of simple but meaningful activities, namely coloring used buckets and planting green beans, in fostering environmental awareness in PAUD children. By using an experiential learning approach, children not only learn through theory, but also experience the recycling and planting process directly as a form of contribution to the environment. This study was conducted through a literature study of relevant literature in the fields of early childhood education, environmental education, and experiential learning approaches. The results of the study show that this activity is able to instill the values of sustainability, responsibility, and social awareness from an early age.

Abstract

Tanggung jawab adalah salah satu aspek terpenting yang harus dimiliki oleh masyarakat Indonesia. Dengan adanya rasa tanggung jawab, masyarakat dapat bersatu untuk berupaya mengubah sesuatu yang lebih baik lagi dari bangsa ini. Salah satu yang dapat diubah saat ini adalah kondisi ekologi DKI Jakarta yang sedang berada pada fase berbahaya. Saat ini Indonesia, khususnya DKI Jakarta, sedang mengalami kerusakan lingkungan. Hal tersebut perlu adanya kesadaran masyarakat untuk bertanggung jawab memulihkan keadaan DKI Jakarta yang rusak menjadi lebih baik lagi. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik kualitatif metode deskriptif dengan mengumpulkan 2 subyek yang berdomisili DKI Jakarta, khususnya Jakarta Utara dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran tanggung jawab kewarganegaraan terhadap ekologi di DKI Jakarta. Hasil dari wawancara tersebut menunjukkan bahwa kedua subyek telah sama-sama memiliki aspek kesadaran serta rasa kecintaan atau kesukaan akan lingkungan sekitar. Meski begitu, masih terdapat kelemahan dalam diri masing-masing subyek dalam aspek keberanian.

Abstract

This Community Service Program aimed to enhance the understanding and skills of employees at PT MTI in applying self-leadership as an effort to achieve optimal performance within a dynamic work environment. The program was implemented through a psychoeducational webinar entitled “Starting with Yourself,” which was attended by 110 employees from various divisions and job levels, demonstrating a high level of participation. The psychoeducational content covered fundamental leadership concepts, behavior-focused strategies, natural reward strategies, and constructive thought strategies. Evaluation was conducted using pre-test and post-test assessments to measure improvements in participants’ understanding. The results indicated a significant increase in employees’ knowledge after joining the webinar, as reflected in their enhanced ability to comprehend, integrate, and apply self-leadership concepts compared to their initial understanding prior to the program. Active engagement in ice-breaking activities, discussions, and question-and-answer sessions further contributed to the effectiveness of the learning process. These findings suggest that psychoeducation is an effective method for strengthening employees’ self-regulation capacities and readiness to meet the demands of work in the telecommunication industry. This program is expected to serve as a foundation for the development of subsequent leadership-based training initiatives aimed at continuously improving the quality of human resources.

The rapid growth of social media in the digital era has led emerging adults to be increasingly exposed to achievement-oriented content, including academic accomplishments, career success, and personal achievements. Such exposure frequently elicits upward social comparison, which may, in turn, intensify tendencies toward self-criticism. However, self-compassion is widely regarded as a protective factor that can mitigate these negative effects. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the relationship between self-compassion and self-criticism among emerging adults who are exposed to achievement-related content on social media. The participants consisted of 189 individuals aged 18–29 years who actively use social media and have previously encountered achievement-related content. Data were collected online using the Self-Compassion Scale (SCS) and the Forms of Self-Criticizing/Attacking and Self-Reassuring Scale (FSCRS). Subsequently, data analysis was conducted using Spearman’s correlation. The results revealed a strong and significant negative relationship between self-compassion and self-criticism (ρ = –0.600, p < .001). In other words, higher levels of self-compassion were associated with lower tendencies toward self-criticism. Overall, these findings underscore the crucial role of self-compassion as an important protective factor against the negative psychological impacts of exposure to achievement-related content on social media. Accordingly, this study is expected to serve as a foundation for the development of interventions aimed at enhancing self-compassion in order to strengthen the mental health of emerging adults in the digital era.

Abstract

The situation of Indonesian teenagers is not in a good condition. Family and economic conditions sometimes mean that teenagers do not experience formal education and adequate personality education. Therefore, the presence of orphanages is an important means to accommodate these disadvantaged teenagers both economically and socially. The presence of the Beriku Hati Orphanage in Cisauk is able to help a group of teenagers obtain proper education and good personality guidance from their caregivers. The residents of this orphanage come from different cultural, economic and social backgrounds. These differences in background require them to be able to adapt to their other peers. In addition, through education and guidance while in the orphanage, it is hoped that the members of the orphanage will be able to build their self-confidence and strive to achieve their dreams. With an unfavorable economic background and social status, they are invited to be more confident and have positive expectations to achieve their dreams and future. Through this PKM, residents are invited to understand the concept of hope in their lives. A proper understanding of hope will help them to apply it in their daily lives. With the presentation method and Q&A between the facilitator and participants, it is expected that the residents of this orphanage will remain enthusiastic, optimistic and have hope. The mandatory output of this PKM is in the form of journal articles or proceedings and disseminated in seminars, while additional outputs are in the form of compiling learning modules or training on hope. ABSTRAK Situasi anak-anak remaja Indonesia tidak berada dalam kondisi baik-baik saja. Keadaan keluarga dan ekonomi keluarga membuat para remaja kadang tidak mengalami pendidikan formal dan pendidikan kepribadian yang memadai. Maka kehadiran panti asuhan menjadi sarana penting untuk menampung anak-anak remaja yang kurang beruntung ini baik secara ekonomi maupun sosial. Kehadiran Panti Asuhan Beriku Hati di Cisauk mampu menolong sekelompok anak-anak remaja memperoleh pendidikan yang layak dan pendampingan kepribadian yang baik dari para pengasuh mereka. Para penghuni panti asuhan ini berasal dari latar belakang budaya, ekonomi dan sosial yang berbeda. Perbedaan latar belakang ini membuat mereka harus mampu beradaptasi dengan rekan-rekan mereka yang lain. Selain itu melalui pendidikan dan pendampingan selama di panti asuhan diharapakan para anggota panti asuhan mampu membangun kepercayaan diri mereka serta berusaha mencapai cita-cita mereka. Dengan latar belakang ekonomi dan status sosial yang kurang menguntungkan mereka diajak untuk lebih percaya diri dan memiliki pengharapan yang positif untuk meraih cita-cita dan masa depannya. Melalui PKM ini warga diajak memahami pengertian pengharapan (hope) dalam hidup mereka. Pemahaman yang tepat mengenai pengharapan akan menolong mereka sendiri untuk menerapkan dalam hidup mereka sehari-hari. Dengan metode presentasi dan tanya jawab antara fasilitator dan peserta diharapkan penghuni panti asuhan ini tetap bersemangat, optimis dan memiliki pengharapan. Luaran wajib dari PKM ini adalah dalam bentuk artikel jurnal atau prosiding dan diseminasikan di dalam seminar, sementara luaran tambahan berupa penyusunan modul pembelajaran atau pelatihan mengenai pengharapan.

Abstract

Migrant students are a group vulnerable to psychological challenges arising from adaptation to a new environment, separation from family, and changes in social networks, which can elicit feelings of loneliness when needs for emotional closeness and social support are not met. One psychological factor presumed to contribute to loneliness among migrant students is self-esteem, defined as an individual’s evaluation of their worth and value. This study aimed to examine the relationship between self-esteem and loneliness among migrant students. Using a quantitative correlational method, the study involved 355 participants aged 18–25 years who were studying at Universitas X. Self-esteem was measured using the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES), and loneliness was measured using the UCLA Loneliness Scale Version 3. Because the data were not normally distributed, Spearman’s rho correlation was used for analysis. The results showed a strong negative relationship between self-esteem and loneliness (r = -0.873; p < 0.001), indicating that higher self-esteem was associated with lower loneliness among migrant students, and vice versa. Descriptive analysis also indicated that self-esteem was in the moderate category, whereas loneliness was in the high category. These findings underscore the importance of attending to self-esteem in understanding and reducing loneliness among migrant students facing adaptation pressures in higher education settings.

Abstract

High levels of TikTok use among university students have the potential to increase fear of missing out (FoMO) and lead to a decline in sleep quality. This study aimed to examine the relationship between FoMO and sleep quality among university students who are active TikTok users. The research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design, involving 352 students and using the FoMO Scale and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) as measurement instruments. Regression analysis showed that FoMO had a significant effect on sleep quality, with p = 0.000 and a regression coefficient of B = 0.965. In addition, the R² value of 0.802 indicated that 80.2% of the variance in sleep quality disturbances was explained by FoMO. These findings indicate that higher levels of FoMO are associated with poorer sleep quality among students, as reflected in increased sleep disturbances, delayed sleep onset, and feelings of non-restorative sleep upon waking. The study underscores the importance of managing social media use, particularly TikTok, to maintain healthy sleep among university students.
