Abstract

The apostolic task of preaching the gospel is God's own call and choice. Paul realized this and admitted that his choice as an apostle was not his efforts and merits, but was God's loving kindness. Therefore, in carrying out his apostolic duties, Paul truly carried them out with the spirituality of a servant of Jesus Christ. This research aims to describe Paul's apostleship in Romans 1:1-7. Researchers use text studies and literature studies as research methodologies. This article explains the explanation of Paul who was called, singled out and given the position of apostle, as well as how Paul carried out his apostleship. The final result of this research is that the author presents his theological ideas and reflections as an entry point for the Church to live its apostolate today.

Abstract

This article examines the example of the holiness of Mary, the mother of Jesus, as a paradigm in the formation of the faith and morals of contemporary Christian women. The background of this study departs from the reality of the decline in moral and spiritual values experienced by many Christian women amidst the currents of modernity, secularism, and the crisis of religious identity. This phenomenon is reflected in the weakening of faith commitment, a decline in moral integrity, and a shift in life orientation from spiritual values to material and individualistic interests. In this context, the discussion focuses on how the example of Mary's holiness can be implemented concretely in the formation of the faith and morals of contemporary women, namely through obedience to God's will, faithfulness in prayer, and the experience of love in social relationships and daily life responsibilities. The main objective of this study is to explore and actualize the values of Marian holiness, such as obedience, humility, purity, and loyalty so that they can become a concrete inspiration for Christian women in living a life based on faith. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach with theological-biblical analysis and literature study of various sources of Scripture and Church documents. The results of this study illustrate that Marian spirituality has transformative value in shaping the character of Christian women who are spiritually strong and morally upright. In conclusion, Mary's exemplary life is not only historical and symbolic, but also actual and contextual, serving as a life paradigm for Christian women in facing the challenges of faith and ethics in the modern era.

Abstract

The rise of interreligious prejudice in Indonesia is an alarming phenomenon, evident in the intensification of social polarization, the spread of identity-based conflicts, and the decline of constructive communication among religious communities. This situation often hinders efforts to build truthful narratives and substantive dialogue, as they are obstructed by deeply rooted stereotypes and prejudices. This study analyzes the urgency of an epistemological transformation from prejudice toward authentic dialogue as a concrete embodiment of a dynamic and transformative Christian faith, with a particular focus on the narrative of John 1:35–51. By employing a literature-based methodology and descriptive analysis, this research demonstrates how encounters with Christ provide a strong epistemological and spiritual foundation for overcoming prejudice while fostering meaningful interreligious dialogue. Dialogue in this perspective is not understood as doctrinal relativism but as a praxis grounded in truth, agape love, and mutual recognition. This study specifically examines the application of the principle “come and see” as a methodology for cultivating tolerance in response to the complexities of today’s socio-cultural challenges. By integrating theological reflection with the pluralistic reality of Indonesia, this article offers a new perspective on the contribution of Christians in a plural society, particularly their role as facilitators of dialogue amid a social climate saturated with prejudice. The findings of this research are expected to make a significant contribution to the development of more effective, constructive, and transformative models of interreligious dialogue.

Abstract

The Church carries out its mission through five fundamental dimensions: koinonia (communion), diakonia (service), liturgia (worship), kerygma (proclamation), and martyria (witness). Among these, martyria occupies a central role as the witness of faith in Christ in the world. This article aims to analyze the theological meaning of the testimony of John the Baptist in John 1:19–28 and its relevance as a paradigm of the Church’s martyria in the contemporary context. The study employs a qualitative method based on a literature review, using a biblical-theological analytical approach to the text of the Gospel of John. The findings indicate that John’s testimony is characterized by an authentic confession of faith, Christological humility, and a total orientation toward Christ as the center of proclamation. These characteristics affirm that the Church’s martyria is not self-centered but focused on the presence of Christ, made visible through a lived witness and authentic proclamation within the context of the contemporary world. Therefore, the testimony of John can serve as a model for the Church in carrying out its mission of martyria today.
