Abstract

Mekar Mulio Village, located in Sei Balai District, Batu Bara Regency, North Sumatra, has a lot of agricultural potential, one of which is the lemongrass plant which can be used to make natural mosquito repellent products. However, there are problems related to people's understanding of the existing economic potential and a lack of interest and skills in product diversification. To solve this problem, the KKN 86 group conducted outreach on making natural mosquito repellent using lemongrass. The aim of this outreach is to increase the knowledge and skills of the community, especially PKK women, on how to use lemongrass as an innovative and environmentally friendly product. Socialization about making anti-mosquito medicine from lemongrass was carried out through lectures, discussions and direct demonstrations. The result is that participants are more adept at making natural mosquito repellent and better understand the various types of lemongrass products. The result is an effective mosquito repellent that smells refreshing. The response given by the community, village officials and PKK women showed positive results. The economic potential of lemongrass became clearer to the community, and they were inspired to develop businesses based on natural products. These activities not only offer a practical solution to the mosquito problem, but also strengthen local small and medium businesses and improve community welfare.

Abstract

Dakwah dikembangkan dengan ilmu komunikasi. Ilmu komunikasi juga mengalami perluasan area dan perkembangan melalui intensitas dakwah, yang selalu membutuhkan kreativitas dan pengembangan metode serta materinya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami retorika dalam dakwah Habib Ja’far melalui platform digital. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan menggunakan observasi dan analisis data, khususnya analisis terhadap konten video Husain Jafar Alhadar di channel YouTube Noice. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pentingnya retorika sebagai bentuk berbicara dengan efektif yang bertujuan untuk mencapai tujuan tertentu melalui komunikasi yang jelas, singkat, dan berkesan. Dalam hal ini Habib Husein Ja’far menjadi contoh dalam beretorika di zaman sekarang, di mana Habib Husein Ja’far menyesuaikan gaya dan bahasa agar dapat diterima oleh khalayak muda dalam menyerap nilai-nilai keagamaan. Pendekatannya dalam berdakwah memiliki karakteristik tersendiri yaitu popularitas, rasionalitas, dan inklusivitas. Serta memberikan materi dakwah dengan bahasa yang mudah dicerna dan ringan.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has fundamentally reshaped the landscape of political communication, creating new spaces for interaction between political actors and the public through social media. This study aims to analyse the dynamics of political communication in the digital age by highlighting how media and algorithmic logic frame the construction of political discourse and public participation. Using a qualitative approach based on literature review, this study examines literature from accredited scientific journals discussing topics such as digital political communication, mediatisation, social media algorithms, and political literacy. The results of the study indicate that political communication in the digital space tends to be dominated by visual aesthetics and performance rather than political substance. Digital platforms, through non-neutral algorithms, reinforce opinion polarisation and create echo chambers that limit dialogue between groups. Meanwhile, public political participation has expanded in meaning but often gets stuck in shallow and reactive symbolic expressions. The discussion in this study emphasises that digital political communication is ambivalent: it opens up opportunities for the democratisation of information, but simultaneously increases the potential for manipulation and domination of discourse by certain powers. The conclusion of this study is that political communication in the digital age requires an increase in critical literacy so that the public can navigate the complexity of information and avoid the trap of symbolic proximity illusions and structured disinformation.

Abstract

The media plays a central role in shaping public perceptions of contemporary political issues. Through the process of framing, the media not only conveys facts, but also determines which aspects are emphasized, obscured, or omitted. This study aims to analyze how the mass media frames current political issues and to reveal the implications of such discourse construction on public perceptions. Using a qualitative approach through literature review, this study examines academic literature on framing theory, media politics, and the dynamics of political reporting in Indonesia. The analysis reveals that media framing is significantly influenced by political interests, editorial ideology, and market pressures. Issues such as corruption, elite conflicts, or elections are often reported with biased, simplistic, and sometimes fragmented narratives. The discussion emphasizes that framing is not merely a technical editorial choice but an ideological practice that significantly shapes the socio-political reality of society. The conclusion of this study is that framing analysis needs to be developed critically as a tool to uncover biases in political news representation and as a foundation for enhancing media literacy among the public in the age of information overload.

Abstract

This research analyzes ethical violations in five presidential and vice presidential debate sessions in the 2024 Election using a qualitative approach based on content analysis. The main data sources come from debate video transcripts, code of ethics documents, and media coverage. Each statement is classified according to five indicators: information quality, clarity, relevance, politeness, and public responsibility. The findings show a significant tendency for violations: the use of technical jargon without explanation, unverified data claims, veiled personal attacks, polarizing rhetoric, and simplification of complex issues. For example, in the vice presidential debate, Gibran used the term SGIE and rhetorical techniques to attack other statements, which were conveyed as “unethical” communication due to minimal context or explanation. The third presidential debate was also dominated by an ad hominem style that triggered polarization and reduced the substance of public discourse. These results support Grice's pragmatic theory and Habermas's deliberative theory on the importance of transparency, respect, and rationality in public debate. Continuous violations of broadcasting debates as a means of political education increase societal polarization and reduce public trust. Recommendations include improving debate moderation, direct verification by the media, and implementing a stricter code of ethics in each national debate session.

Abstract

Political personalization is an increasingly dominant communication strategy in the practice of digital democracy, where the focus of politics shifts from institutions and ideologies to individual figures. This study aims to analyze the influence of political personalization on voter behavior, especially in the context of social media that allows direct and intense interaction between candidates and the public. Using a qualitative approach through literature study, this article examines how political personalization strategies are constructed and accepted by the public, as well as their impact on the quality of voter rationality. The results of the study show that voters, especially the younger generation, are more likely to respond to visual and emotional aspects of political figures such as communication style, personal narratives, and symbolic closeness on social media. Political personalization creates an impressive relationship between candidates and voters, but on the other hand also simplifies the complexity of politics into a contestation of personal images. The discussion shows that this phenomenon increases public involvement visually and emotionally, but reduces attention to ideas, programs, and policy substance. The conclusion of this study is that political personalization has a significant impact on shaping affective and impressive voter behavior, which in the long term can weaken the deliberative democracy process if not balanced by increasing public political literacy.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas hubungan antara kepemimpinan dan komunikasi politik dalam konteks dinamika politik modern. Kepemimpinan politik tidak hanya terkait dengan kekuasaan, tetapi juga dengan kemampuan untuk mengarahkan masyarakat dan membangun opini publik melalui komunikasi yang efektif. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif untuk menggali pemahaman tentang bagaimana komunikasi politik mempengaruhi legitimasi dan stabilitas pemerintahan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepemimpinan yang efektif sangat bergantung pada keterampilan komunikasi, baik melalui media sosial maupun media massa. Pemimpin yang mampu menyampaikan pesan secara jelas, konsisten, dan sesuai ekspektasi publik cenderung memperoleh kepercayaan yang lebih tinggi.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji hubungan antara politik dan penyiaran televisi di Indonesia, serta dampaknya terhadap kualitas demokrasi dan kebebasan pers. Televisi, sebagai media utama dalam menyampaikan informasi politik, sering kali terpengaruh oleh kepentingan politik pemilik media, yang memengaruhi objektivitas pemberitaan. Melalui analisis kualitatif terhadap program-program televisi yang menampilkan konten politik, penelitian ini menemukan adanya dominasi pemberitaan dari partai atau tokoh politik tertentu, serta distorsi informasi yang menciptakan ketidakseimbangan dalam penyajian berita. Afiliasi politik pemilik media berperan besar dalam mengarahkan kebijakan editorial, yang mengurangi independensi redaksi dan kualitas kebebasan pers. Penelitian ini menyarankan perlunya peningkatan literasi media masyarakat dan pengawasan yang lebih ketat terhadap media penyiaran untuk menjaga integritas jurnalisme dan demokrasi di Indonesia.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas peran dan fungsi manajemen dalam pengelolaan media sosial di era digital, dengan fokus pada strategi, tantangan, dan peran kepemimpinan. Strategi pengelolaan media sosial memerlukan pendekatan adaptif dan responsif terhadap dinamika media sosial, termasuk penggunaan platform yang relevan dan pengelolaan konten yang efektif. Tantangan utama melibatkan risiko reputasi, krisis online, dan adaptasi terhadap tren konten yang selalu berubah. Kepemimpinan yang efektif diperlukan untuk membimbing organisasi melalui kompleksitas ini, melibatkan visi strategis, keterlibatan aktif dengan media sosial, dan kemampuan untuk mengatasi tantangan dan krisis dengan respons cepat. Penelitian ini memberikan wawasan mendalam tentang bagaimana manajemen dan kepemimpinan dapat optimal dalam mengelola media sosial untuk mencapai keberlanjutan organisasi.

Abstract

The development of technology and information has been proven by the emergence of new media that is increasingly massive. One of them is podcasts, digital audio documents uploaded online to be shared with the public. Podcasts are considered an alternative to radio, and in 2016, Nielsen predicted that 2020 would be the beginning of a "new golden age of audio". This prediction has proven to be true, with the number of podcast listeners in Indonesia tripling in 2020. In April 2022, Indonesia even ranked second as the country with the most podcast listeners in the world. However, the increasingly dominant development of podcasts has actually had an impact on the decline in interest and listeners of traditional radio. In this regard, researchers will investigate the impact of the development of podcasts on traditional radio, as well as the causes of decreased interest in traditional radio, especially in Indonesia.
